Box Office: Son of Sardaar 2 in a fight for showcasing in India as Saiyaara & Mahavatar Narsimha strike gold; Dhadak 2 locks release plan
The source further added, 'Being a comedy film from a franchise with Ajay Devgn in the lead, PVRInox is demanding 60 per cent of the total showcasing, however, exhibitors are willing allot not more than 35 per cent of shows at their properties. While some single screens have agreed on two-shows per-day, the non-national chains are willing to give not more than 35 per cent shows to Son of Sardaar 2. This has left PVRInox fuming, and the fight is on to secure more shows.'
Interestingly, the present showcasing plan is favouring Saiyaara as also Mahavatar Narsimha in the non-national chains and single screens. 'Dhadak 2 team is going tight with their release with about 1000 screens on the first day. They are not looking for a wide release, and content with a strategic release on 1000 screens, mainly focused towards the urban markets. It's a strategy similar to what team Dharma followed with Kesari 2, and they are looking to increase their shows over the weekend if the word of mouth comes in their favour. The issue is with Son of Sardaar 2 – a bigger film, which is aiming for a release on over 3500 screens, but the circumstances might restrict it to 2500 screens with scattered showcasing,' the source shared.
At 4 screen property, the proposed allocation at the moment is – 6 shows of Son of Sardaar, 5 shows for Saiyaara, 4 shows for Dhadak, 3 shows for Mahavatar Narsimha and the remaining for the other holdover releases. The 3 screen properties on the other hand have proposed a showcasing of 5 shows for Son of Sardaar, 4 shows for Saiyaara, 3 for Dhadak 2 and the remaining for Mahavatar Narsimha. On the contrary, the single screens have proposed 2 shows for Son of Sardaar 2, 2 shows for Saiyaara and 1 show for Mahavatar Narsimha. 'PVR Pictures has demanded 4 shows from some single screen owners, who at the moment have decided to skip Son of Sardaar 2 for the holdover releases – Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha,' the source concluded. Surprisingly, some single-screens owners are willing continue Saiyaara in the third week too on all the four shows, based on the strong demand from the audiences.

Son of Sardaar 2, Dhadak 2 Movie Review, Rating and Release Live Updates: It's Friday and two films have hit the big screens. First is Ajay Devgn's return as Jassi in the film Son of Sardaar 2, which is a sequel to his 2012 hit. The second film is Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi's Dhadak 2. These films will have a head-to-head fight for the box office collection where Aneet Padda-Ahaan Pandey's Saiyaara is still going strong. Dhadak 2,a romantic drama, is a written and directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures. The film is a spiritual sequel to Dhadak (2018) which star Ishaan Khatter and marks Janhvi Kapoor's debut film. The film was a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (2018). Originally slated for release on July 25, Son of Sardaar 2 was pushed to August 1. Looks like these two films will face a big challenge at the box office with Saiyaara's continuing its strong run, and also Mahavatar Narsimha's growing numbers. South actor Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom, which was recently released in theatres too has earned well on its first day. And looks like this latest release too can be a threat the films. Dhadak 2's production house, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, is going the Kesari 2 way with this film. It's releasing only in 1000 screens across India, focusing on the urban centres, with more screens expected to add in case the word of mouth is in their favour. Saiyaara actor was Rs 2 crore in debt, relied on family's support during bankruptcy: ‘Didn't have enough money for survival'
Actor Rajesh Kumar has been a part of landmark series on both television (Sarabhai vs Sarabhai) and the web (Kota Factory). He can now add theatrical films to the list, having played a supporting role in the blockbuster romantic drama Saiyaara. Starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film is directed by Mohit Suri. It debuted in July to mostly positive reviews, but shocked everybody with its box office performance. The movie recently crossed the Rs 400 crore milestone worldwide, and will probably pass the Rs 500 crore mark this weekend. Rajesh Kumar is basking in the film's success, heralding it as a much-needed return to the limelight. In an interview with Meri Saheli, he spoke about the film's success, and his recent personal difficulties. Rajesh took to farming some years ago, and was hit with the harsh realities of the business. He went bankrupt, and at one point, had only Rs 2500 in his account and was Rs 2 crore in debt. He said, 'Bankruptcy, yes. The incoming and outgoing flow had gone for a toss. There was no incoming, and I had exhausted all my reserves because of the outgoing. I went under debt of Rs 2 crore. (Bankruptcy) is a big word, but definitely, I had that feeling with me for a long time. I was not able to generate money for survival also. This was definitely a phase.' Rajesh said that he wants to dispel the myth that farming is only undertaken by people who have no other options. He said that nobody these days dreams of becoming a farmer when they grow up, and he wants to change this mindset. He said that he relied on his family's support when he wasn't making any money himself. Rajesh quit acting and took up farming in 2019, but he was immediately struck by a series of setbacks. First, the weather turned against him, and then, he had to contend with a pandemic. 'Financially, I was on a slide. By the lockdown, I had used up my savings, and was literally bankrupt. I didn't have anything in my pocket. I had huge loans, and that was adding to the pressure,' he told Rajshri Unplugged. Things became so bad financially, Rajesh took up a role in a film called Binny and Family but couldn't afford to buy his kids simple gifts. 'I had just Rs 2,500 in my bank account when I was in the UK. I traveled back and forth twice during that 24-day shoot, but I couldn't bring back even two chocolates for my kids,' he said in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar. In an older interview with Galatta India, he said that farming made him a better actor. 'Farming helped me become a better actor. Now, whenever my role demands emotions, I simply remember my farming days and tear up.' He laughed as he said, 'I don't have to visualise as an actor that my parents died or a friend died, I simply remember: 'Arey yaar, khet mein aag lag gaya tha uss din (The farm caught fire the other day)',' he said.
