ACME Solar inks pact with NHPC to supply 250 MW electricity to RE project in Rajasthan
The power purchase agreement (PPA) has been signed at a tariff of ₹ 4.56 per kWh for a minimum annual Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) of 40 per cent and to meet 90 per cent of peak power requirement of 4 hours daily, according to a company statement.
ACME Solar Holdings Ltd (ACME Solar) signed a 25-year PPA with NHPC Limited, a AAA-rated central government enterprise, for its 250 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in Rajasthan, the company said.
This PPA marks a significant step in strengthening ACME Solar's footprint in the FDRE space while supporting India's clean energy ambitions through an innovative mix of solar, wind, and battery storage technology.
The project will be connected to an ISTS (Inter-State Transmission System) substation for which connectivity is already in place.
The requisite approval under section 63 of the Electricity Act 2003 for adoption of tariff has been issued by CERC (Central Electricity Regulatory Commission) on June 19, 2025, the company said.
With this, the company's PPA-signed portfolio stands at 5,130 MW, of which 2,826.2 MW is already operational, and the balance is under various stages of implementation.
ACME Solar's overall portfolio comprises 86 per cent offtake with central government enterprises and the remaining 14 per cent with State discoms.
The company is an integrated renewable energy player with a diversified portfolio of 6,970 MW spanning solar, wind, FDRE and hybrid solutions.

NLCIL wins 450 MW wind-solar hybrid power project from NTPC
NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has received a Letter of Award from National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) for the establishment of a 450 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connected Wind-Solar hybrid power project. This project is part of NTPC's plan to procure 1200 MW hybrid power under a Tariff-based Competitive Bidding Process, with a provision for an additional 600 MW under the Greenshoe option. NLCIL has emerged successful in securing 450 MW contracted capacity, reaffirming its growing role in India's renewable energy transition. According to NLCIL, the hybrid project is designed to ensure a minimum annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 30% prompting optimal integration of renewable resources while ensuring grid stability and reliability. Under the terms of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the project is expected to commence power supply within 24 months and will operate for a contractual period of 25 years. NLCIL will also have the option to form a dedicated Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project implementation. According to Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, 'This significant win from NTPC marks a major milestone in NLCIL's renewable energy journey. The 450 MW hybrid project not only strengthens the company's footprint in green energy but also symbolises our commitment to innovation and sustainability. NLCIL remains firmly aligned with the country's vision for a cleaner, greener future and is confident of delivering high-performance assets that contribute to long-term energy security. NLCIL is already establishing a 150 MW Wind-Solar hybrid project from Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) at Gujarat and the current project will enhance the company's hybrid capacity to 600 MW in total. The Letter of Award reinforces NLCIL's strategic alignment with the Government of India's energy diversification and clean power objectives, and it marks another step towards the company's vision of achieving 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

India to spend about 5 lakh crore in power grid modernisation between 2027-32: Report
ANI 01 Jul 2025, 13:03 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): India is required to invest 4.91 lakh crore during the 2027-2032 period in order to expand and modernise its power transmission infrastructure, according to a report by financial consultancy firm InVed. The investments to focus on constructing additional high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and reactive power compensation systems, with a voltage level of 220 kV and to data from the National Electricity Plan (NEP) released in October 2024, the projected capital outlay will facilitate the addition of 76,787 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 4,97,855 MVA of transformation capacity. The reports also reveal that, of the total estimated investment, 3.91 lakh crore is earmarked for the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), which enables power transfer across state boundaries and plays a pivotal role in maintaining the stability of the national remaining 99,296 crore will be directed toward intra-state systems, which distribute power within individual upcoming investments mark a significant increase from the 4.25 lakh crore planned during the 2022-27 cycle, reflecting the government's commitment to transitioning to a greener and more resilient grid NEP also includes plans to add 32,250 MW of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) bi-pole capacity during the same five-year span, indicating a sharp focus on efficient long-distance power per the NEP pipeline, more than Rs 9 lakh crore of projects are to be completed by 2032. Till now, only projects worth Rs 3 lakh crores have been allotted; the remaining Rs 6 lakh crores worth of projects are yet to be allotted. The report notes that considering the execution time of 2-3 years, projects worth Rs 6 lakh crore should be allotted by 2029. So the next four years will see significant opportunities across various components of the power sector, like transmission lines, substations, smart grid technologies, and metering systems, indicating a robust and expanding market for key players in this sector. Overall, the report says, this growth is essential for integrating renewable energy, ensuring grid stability, managing loads effectively, and facilitating nationwide electrification. (ANI)
