A GIRL was banned from a school's cultural diversity day — for wearing a Union Jack dress.
Heartbroken pupil Courtney Wright, 12, was told: 'You get to celebrate being British everyday, this is for everybody else.'

The Year 7 pupil teamed her dress — similar to the one worn by Spice Girl Geri Halliwell in the 90s, above — with a matching bowler hat.
She also planned to read a speech celebrating tea, Shakespeare, fish and chips and the royals.
But the grade-A student was stopped by teachers who gave her the option of wearing a second-hand uniform instead.
Courtney refused before her dad Stuart Field, 47, arrived to collect her from Bilton School in Rugby, Warwickshire.
Last night, he slammed the school for 'virtue signalling' and said he had since received a grovelling apology.
The dad of five told The Sun: 'Her head of year bizarrely said that if she had worn a suit of armour or a nurse's outfit, she probably would have been allowed.
"It's ridiculous. The irony is they were having a cultural diversity day and yet they singled out a group of people.
'She's a grade-A student and they have vilified her and punished her for being proud of being British.'
He said a mum told him her son was banned for wearing a farmer's outfit.
The marine engineer, from Coventry, added: 'This was Courtney's interpretation of British culture and what it means to her.
Homeowner divides opinion with Union Jack driveway as some praise 'patriot' but others say it'll 'knock £20k off house'
"Their response goes against all the school's inclusion policies. She was segregated from the kids taking part.'
Before last Friday's event, head Jayne Delves wrote to parents: 'This special day is dedicated to recognising and celebrating the rich cultural diversity within our school community.
"Students across all year groups will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of cultural activities.'
In her speech, Courtney hoped to say: 'We have lots of traditions including drinking tea, our love of talking about the weather and our Royal Family.
'We have amazing history, like kings and queens, castles and writers like Shakespeare.'
She would add: 'Sometimes at school we only hear about other cultures — which is great because learning about different countries is interesting and important.
'But it can feel like being British doesn't count as a culture, just because it's the majority.'
The school responded: 'We deeply regret the distress this has caused and offer our sincere and unreserved apologies. We've since spoken directly with the pupil and her family to listen to their concerns and reflect on how this could have been handled better.
'We are committed to learning from this experience and ensuring every student feels recognised and supported.'

I'm not raising an iPad kid & I'm still called selfish for letting him run in restaurants & stand on tables making noise

Read on for our top tips on dealing with toddlers NOT KIDDING I'm not raising an iPad kid & I'm still called selfish for letting him run in restaurants & stand on tables making noise Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MUM has been slammed after sharing how difficult it is not raising an iPad kid. Irene took to social media to show the reality of taking a toddler out to a restaurant but it seemed many lacked sympathy for the mum. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Irene was trying her hardest nt to raise an iPad kid Credit: Tiktok/@irene_arr 2 But she was slammed for letting her kid run around Credit: Tiktok/@irene_arr The term 'iPad kids' means young children who seemingly can't function or behave without being put in front of a screen. Many child experts have also discussed the dangers of relying on screens to keep kids entertained. It has also been linked to higher anxiety, depression symptoms, lower quality of life and lower psychological well-being in children, which could in turn, make them poorly behaved. But Irene was trying her best to make sure her son didn't turn into one. Unlike many parents, the mum refused to give her toddler an iPad while she and her partner were dining out to keep him entertained. She said: "Fighting for our lives trying not to raise an iPad kid. "Absolutely feral." In the short video, she shared what her son got up to while in the restaurant. He could be seen running around on top of their table until their food came. Once it did, she put him in the high chair where he began to grab items to chuck on the floor. Watch the moment mum returns to her toddler son after leaving him for a minute and find he's EATEN her dad's ASHES Despite the mum trying to keep her son away from technology, she was still slammed online. The video shared to her TikTok page @irene_arr went viral with over 2 million views. Many said she was selfish for letting her kid run around on the table instead of giving him other ways to keep entertained. One person wrote: "The kids standing on the table and you aren't doing nothing about it I'm going to judge sorry, public place that's someone else's tables." Another commented: "It's fine not to have an iPad kid but don't let your kid walk all over the table. Can you teach him to sit down normally?" Tips for Dealing with Toddlers IF you're struggling to control your toddler, here's ten tips that you need to know... Stay Calm and Patient Take deep breaths and maintain a calm demeanor. Patience is key; toddlers are still learning to navigate their emotions and behaviors. Set Clear Boundaries Establish consistent rules and explain them in simple terms. Be firm but gentle in enforcing boundaries. Offer Choices Give your toddler options to foster independence. For example, let them choose between two outfits or snacks. Use Positive Reinforcement Praise good behavior and offer small rewards. Acknowledge their efforts and achievements to encourage repetition of positive actions. Create a Routine Structure and predictability help toddlers feel secure. Maintain regular meal times, nap times, and bedtime routines. Stay Engaged Spend quality time interacting with your toddler. Read, play, and explore activities together to strengthen your bond. Be a Role Model Demonstrate the behavior you expect from your toddler. Use polite language, share, and show empathy in your interactions. Encourage Communication Help your toddler express their feelings with words. Teach them simple phrases to communicate needs and emotions. Redirect Attention When faced with undesirable behavior, distract and redirect their focus. Introduce a new activity or toy to shift attention away from the issue. Ensure Safety Child-proof your home to prevent accidents. Supervise your toddler closely to keep them safe while exploring. "If you can't parent your child, don't take him out in public. It's rude to the server, the staff and everyone at the establishment. It's not their job to clean up after your toddler walking on the tables is unacceptable," penned a third. Meanwhile a fourth said: "The real problem is when you can't control your kids when they aren't iPad kids it's okay to have an iPad don't gotta have it all the time but super annoying your kids screaming in restaurant and you can't control them." "People judge when kids are loud and playing but will judge when they have a screen you can't win either way,' claimed a fifth Someone else added: "I just know every other table in there had their dinner ruined."

Arrested Development's disgraced Jeffrey Tambor, 81, resurfaces on grocery run 8 years after sexual misconduct claims

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DISGRACED actor Jeffrey Tambor has resurfaced in public nearly eight years after his Hollywood career was marred by allegations of sexual misconduct. The former Arrested Development actor, 81, appeared to have a disgruntled expression on his face as he wore a blue-colored padded shirt, khaki shorts, black sneakers, and a baseball cap. Tambor has been out of the spotlight since November 2017 when he was at the center of sexual misconduct allegations brought forth by a former assistant and a co-star on the Amazon Studio series Transparent. At the time, Tambor had been accused of harassing and groping his former assistant and actress, Van Barnes, and made inappropriate sexual advances against his then-co-star Trace Lysette - both transgender actresses. "I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon's handling of these false accusations against me," Tambor, who starred as Maura Pfefferman, a transgender character, for four seasons on the series, said in a statement to NPR at the time. "I am even more disappointed in Jill Soloway's unfair characterization of me as someone who would ever cause harm to any of my fellow cast mates," he added, referring to the show's creator and co-writer. "In our four-year history of working together on this incredible show, these accusations have NEVER been revealed or discussed directly with me or anyone at Amazon. "Therefore, I can only surmise that the investigation against me was deeply flawed and biased toward the toxic politicized atmosphere that afflicted our set." At the time, Soloway praised Barnes and Lysette for their courage in "speaking out about their experience on Transparent." "We are grateful to the many trans people who have supported our vision for Transparent since its inception and remain heartbroken about the pain and mistrust their experience has generated in our community," Soloway said. "We are taking definitive action to ensure our workplace respects the safety and dignity of every individual, and are taking steps to heal as a family." Tambor was never charged with any crimes in regards to the allegations made by Barnes and Lysette. When the accusations first surfaced, Tambor apologized for any inadvertent misbehavior, but denied any intentional harassment or sex abuse. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in May 2018, Tambor admitted that his "ill-temper" did not make him the "easiest person to work with" on set. "I know I haven't always been the easiest person to work with. I can be volatile and ill-tempered, and too often I express my opinions harshly and without tact," he added. "But I have never been a predator - ever." 7 A frail Jeffrey Tambor was seen pushing a shopping cart with a single shopping bag as he exited a Trader Joe's in North Carolina Credit: Tim Jackson - Commissioned by The U.S. Sun Digital Edition 7 Tambor portrayed Maura Pfefferman, a divorced transgender Jewish parent of three, on Amazon Studios' Transparent Credit: Alamy 7 Tambor has vehemently denied the sexual misconduct allegations against him and has never been charged criminally Credit: Tim Jackson - Commissioned by The U.S. Sun Digital Edition SHOCKING ACCUSATIONS The allegations against Tambor came at the height of the MeToo Movement when sexual harassment and assault accusations were made against powerful bigwigs such as Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Bill Cosby, among others. At the time, Lysette, the Transparent actor, accused Tambor of making unsolicited advances that included kisses on her forehead. Lysette also alleged that while shooting a scene for the Amazon show, Tambor told her, "My God, Trace, I want to attack you sexually." The actress claimed that minutes later, Tambor moved over next to her in his pajamas and "put his feet on top of hers," and started "little thrusts on her hip." "They were discreet and insidious and creepy. I felt his genitals on me. And I pushed him off," Lysette alleged. Months after Barnes, Tambor's former assistant, and Lysette came forward with their allegations, actress Jessica Walter claimed her former Arrested Development co-star verbally harassed her. However, Walter admitted that Tambor never sexually harassed or assaulted her. "[Tambor] never crossed the line on our show, with any, you know, sexual whatever," the actress told The New York Times in May 2018. "Verbally, yes, he harassed me, but he did apologize." In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tambor acknowledged that he once had a "blowup" with Walter, confessing that he "profusely apologized" to his co-star after. "I drove myself and my castmates crazy," he said. "Lines got blurred. I was difficult. I was mean."
