Vuori accelerates global expansion in China and South Korea

Fashion United2 days ago
US performance lifestyle brand Vuori is accelerating its international expansion with new brick-and-mortar stores across Asia alongside an expansion of its digital footprint with a rollout of its e-commerce platform across Europe and Japan.
Vuori, launched in 2015 by Joe Kudla, founder and chief executive of the brand, has been growing its international community with its fabric-first approach to creating premium performance apparel and elevated everyday styles.
Currently, Vuori is available in more than 18 countries worldwide, and will surpass its 100-store milestone globally by the close of 2025, including locations in the US and the UK. By 2026, the brand will have a total of 15 stores outside the US as it continues to push forward with an international mindset.
This will include its first locations in Seoul, South Korea, in September through a franchise partner, followed by another debut location in Beijing, China, this October, as it continues to focus on adding retail stores in 'top-tier cities' in a data-driven, phased market-entry strategy.
Andy Lawrence, senior vice president of international at Vuori, who joined the brand in 2021, said in a statement: 'Vuori's international growth has been patient, long-term focused, and designed to build brand equity across all key channels where our customer shops.
'We're not chasing quick wins, we're cultivating meaningful communities in high-potential markets. With our new stores in Beijing and Seoul, we're deepening our presence in key markets in Asia, while our digital expansion into key European and Asian countries allows us to test, learn, and scale in a way that's responsive and efficient.' Alongside its physical retail growth, Vuori is also launching localised e-commerce platforms in 11 new countries, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, and Japan, as it looks to target a broader audience across Europe and Japan.
This follows successful store launches in London and Shanghai, and a 'strong start' to wholesale in Japan and Europe, adds the brand.
'To date, we view international as something like a slingshot: pulled back to build strength before we accelerate and launch forward,' added Lawrence. 'The foundational work we're doing now is setting us up for quicker, sustainable acceleration in the years to come. Vuori's continued international expansion follows the Southern Californian performance lifestyle brand announcing a partnership with the Gerber-Crawford family in May 2025, which tapped supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber, alongside their model children Presley Gerber and Kaia Gerber as ambassadors, as well as contributing to shaping Vuori as creative, strategic and financial partners.
The activewear brand also appointed Ashley Kechter its new global president earlier this month. Kechter joined the company from Fabletics, where she had served as global brand president for over two years.

Newry sandwich firm's multi-million pound investment creates jobs and upskills workforce

Some 130 jobs are to be created at a sandwich firm in Co Down. Deli Lites is planning a £12.8 million investment to automate the company's production and broaden its product range. The move is being supported by Invest NI's Agri-Food Investment Initiative, while a further £6 million investment by the company is to help upskill the existing workforce and create 130 jobs in Warrenpoint. The new jobs include senior positions such as a new chief commercial officer. Deli Lites was established in 1998 by husband and wife Brian and Jackie Reid and supplies fresh gourmet sandwiches and food-to-go products to convenience stores, supermarkets, major coffee chains and international airlines. Its customers include Applegreen, Costa Coffee, Aer Lingus and American Airlines. Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald hailed the investment. 'The north's food and drink processing sector is a true local success story, with latest statistics showing that it generates £6.5 billion in sales and supports over 25,500 jobs across our towns and countryside,' she said. 'This investment will unlock significant growth opportunities for Deli Lites in this exciting sector. 'Increased capacity and new automated equipment will boost productivity and enable it to expand its fresh and frozen ranges, growing its sales in Britain and Ireland, and open up additional export markets. 'With 78% of our food and drink sold outside the north, this industry showcases the quality, innovation, and global appeal of what we produce right here at home. 'The creation of 130 new jobs in Warrenpoint, which will help leverage almost £10 million in wages and salaries across the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area by 2027, is also good news as we work to deliver a more regionally balanced economy.' Brian Reid, chief executive at Deli Lites, said: 'Since our beginnings over 30 years ago, we are now an all-Ireland business with export sales growing in international markets. 'We've always been a trailblazer in our sector, shown when we became the first sandwich maker in the UK and Ireland to achieve B Corp certification.' Jackie Reid, co-founder and CSO at Deli Lites, said: 'Bringing even more products to our snacking and convenience range and investing in production and automation will significantly increase our capacity and customer reach. 'We're delighted to be growing our team in Warrenpoint to bring further expertise into the business and help us achieve our vision, to transform how the world experiences food on the move.' Grainne Moody, director of food and drink at Invest NI, said the project builds on its previous support for the firm to develop its product range for the European market. 'Its success has positioned the company to become a key supplier for the global airlines sector,' she said. 'This new project will increase innovation and boost productivity by transforming labour-intensive processes and increasing digitalisation.

Lazard's profit tops estimates on record advisory revenue from dealmaking

July 24 (Reuters) - Investment bank Lazard (LAZ.N), opens new tab surpassed second-quarter profit estimates on Thursday, as a rebound in dealmaking helped power record revenue in its advisory business, sending its shares up 1.5%. Dealmaking activity bounced back sharply in May and June, after grinding to a halt in April as uncertainty over U.S. tariffs weighed on corporate confidence. Lazard's financial advisory revenue jumped 21% to $497 million in the quarter on robust activity in Europe. The business generated record revenue in France and Germany in the first half. "We are super busy," CEO Peter Orszag told journalists on a conference call. "We also see an increasingly constructive environment for dealmaking going forward." Orszag said on a post-earnings call Lazard saw a bit more of an uptick in European activity in the first half that may get balanced as the year progresses and U.S. activity expands. Lazard expects that private equity will play an increasingly active role in M&A, Orszag said, as pressure from investors to return cash continues to mount. The largest U.S. banks last week struck an optimistic tone about the outlook for the rest of the year after their profits beat expectations. Investment banking fees rose 13% at Citigroup (C.N), opens new tab, 7% at JPMorgan (JPM.N), opens new tab, 26% at Goldman Sachs (GS.N), opens new tab, and 9% at Wells Fargo (WFC.N), opens new tab. Lazard had advised Belgian healthcare REITs Aedifica ( opens new tab and Cofinimmo ( opens new tab on their $13.8 billion merger during the second quarter. In July, the company advised Italy's Ferrero on its $3.1 billion deal for Froot Loops maker WK Kellogg (KLG.N), opens new tab. Lazard has hired 14 managing directors in 2025 after setting an earlier target to add 10 to 15 per year, as part of its goal to double revenue by 2030. On an adjusted basis, it earned 52 cents per share in the quarter, beating expectations of 40 cents, according to estimates compiled by LSEG. Adjusted revenue jumped 12% to $770 million, topping estimates of $683.4 million. In asset management, Lazard registered net inflows of $677 million in the quarter, after grappling with outflows since the second quarter of 2023. "Asset management achieved positive net flows in the quarter and record gross inflows for the first half of the year, demonstrating progress towards our goal for this year to serve as an inflection point for the business," Orszag said. Analysts said the inflows could be an early signal of a turnaround for the business. The real highlight of this quarter was in asset management, said Wolfe Research analyst Steven Chubak. Orszag told journalists there are inorganic growth opportunities on the asset management side, but Lazard has not yet found the "right match". Asset management provides a durable source of revenue and helps diversify revenue from investment banking businesses that are driven by economic cycles. Revenue in the asset management business rose 2% to $292 million, while assets under management rose 2% to $248 billion, as of June 30.

Traders increasingly confident of ECB pause until year-end

LONDON, July 24 (Reuters) - Traders grew more convinced on Thursday that the European Central Bank will hold rates after the summer as the bank's relatively upbeat assessment of the economic outlook and signs an EU-U.S. trade deal is near reduced bets on further cuts. Money markets now price in less than a 25% chance of a 25 basis-point rate cut when the ECB meets next on September 11. That's down from close to 50% on Wednesday, before news broke that the European Union and the United States were heading towards a deal that would result in a broad tariff of 15% applying to EU goods. The ECB, which kept rates on hold on Thursday after eight cuts over the last year that halved its policy rate to 2%, fuelled those moves further. Traders also reduced bets on another rate cut by the end of the year following ECB President Christine Lagarde's comments and now see a roughly 70% chance of a move by December, having nearly fully priced it in last week. Before the ECB's press conference they had seen an October move as a coin toss. At the central bank's post-meeting news conference, Lagarde stressed the ECB was in a "good place" to hold policy and watch how risks develop in the coming months. "Perhaps it was the lack of the use of the word 'pause' and she (Lagarde) described rates as on hold and decision by decision," said UBS Wealth Management economist Dean Turner. Two-year German bond yields , sensitive to interest rate expectations, rose as much as 11 bps to 1.91%, and were eyeing their biggest one-day jump since May. Germany's 10-year yield , the benchmark for the euro area, was up similarly. The euro reversed most of an earlier fall against the dollar and was last flat at around $1.1776 European shares slightly pared gains and were last up 0.2%. (.STOXX), opens new tab Lagarde playing down ECB forecasts showing inflation below target next year had also made her sound "a bit hawkish", said Arne Petimezas, director of research at AFS Group. A 15% tariff would be only half the 30% rate U.S. President Donald Trump had threatened to impose on the EU earlier in July. If it materialises it also takes out the ECB's worst case scenario of a 20% tariff. Indeed, two sources told Reuters policymakers are setting a high bar for a September cut and would need to see a significant deterioration in growth and inflation before backing further easing. But with no certainty on the final tariff outcome, the policy outlook remains uncertain. Some investors remained sceptical that a 15% tariff rate improved the euro zone outlook materially. "Unlike Japan, the relationship between Europe and the U.S. is more complicated as it also includes a security angle," said Salman Ahmed, global head of macro and strategic asset allocation at Fidelity International, who expects more rate cuts to shield the bloc's economy. How much the euro rises from here was also key, as its appreciation hurts exporters and - according to Lagarde - makes it harder for firms to invest. The euro surged nearly 17% from February to early July, hitting its highest since 2021 around $1.18, prompting the ECB's vice president to signal $1.20 as a pain point. It is not too far off those levels now. If trade uncertainty fades, the ECB may not need to cut rates again and the focus is likely to shift to the timing of a rate hike, analysts said. Traders price in a roughly 30% chance of a rate hike in the second half of 2026, LSEG data shows, with German fiscal stimulus expected to start supporting the bloc's economy. "Markets are not far away from switching focus from the last cut to the first hike," said Deutsche Bank's chief European economist Mark Wall.
