More than a million primary pupils go to schools with no male teacher
Data showed that out of England's 16,743 primaries, there were 3,392 with all-women teaching staff last November — with another 746 having men on the books only part-time.
It means 4,138 schools have no full-time male teacher, up from 3,865 in 2020.
A typical primary has about 300 pupils, so 1.2 million kids are at schools with only women teachers.
Overall, just one in seven of England's 350,000 primary school teachers is male.
The Department for Education statistics show the largest school with no men is West Thornton Primary in Croydon, South London, with 910 pupils.
Experts have warned of a lack of role models to combat misogynists like Andrew Tate.
Christopher McGovern, of the Campaign for Real Education, said masculinity has become a dirty word in the 'feminised' teaching profession.
He said: 'No wonder the classroom is shunned by most young men.
'But it's going to undermine the well-being and stability of this country.'
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has vowed to recruit more men.

Pilot ‘didn't send mayday call' before plane vanished without a trace as search for missing couple on board continues
Pilot was 'very experienced' but plane was 'new to him' after buying it just months ago PLANE MYSTERY Pilot 'didn't send mayday call' before plane vanished without a trace as search for missing couple on board continues Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A PILOT flying off Australia with his partner and their dog reportedly failed to contact authorities before their plane disappeared. The two-seater aircraft took off from George Town in Northern Tasmania on Saturday afternoon. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 5 An Australian Maritime Safety Authority search aircraft reportedly deployed to search for the plane Credit: Australian Maritime Safety Authority 5 The plane took off from George Town in Northern Tasmania on Saturday afternoon Credit: Google Maps 5 On board was a man in his 70s, a female passenger in her 60s, and their dog, but none have been seen or heard from since. The plane was set to stop in Leongatha in southern Victoria, before continuing to on to Hillston Airport in New South Wales. But the aircraft never made it to its first stop — and no mayday call or radio contact was ever made. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) confirmed the pilot didn't make contact before takeoff, but added it's still investigating whether the plane disappeared before such communication was required. The move has since stunned aviation experts, with George Town flight instructor Eugene Reid telling ABC: 'You have to do scheduled reporting. 'On leaving the coast, they should have called up air services.' Compounding the mystery, the aircraft was reportedly equipped with an emergency satellite beacon, which should have triggered if anything had gone wrong — but no signal was detected. Reid also noted that local airports like George Town don't always track individual flight plans. 'If someone took their plane out of the hangar and flew away, well, you wouldn't know,' he said. The revelation has since intensified the urgency of the multi-agency search, which entered its third day on Monday. Ex- fighter pilot and son, 13, feared dead after plane crashed off Majorca as wreckage found near tourist hotspot Authorities are scouring vast stretches of northern Tasmania, the Bass Strait, and southern Victoria with helicopters, aircraft, and marine crews. They say the focus remains on finding the pair alive. Police have confirmed the couple, both Tasmanian residents, were travelling to visit family in NSW when they disappeared. AMSA confirmed the aircraft disappeared over Bass Strait after leaving George Town around 12.45pm. The alarm was raised shortly after 5pm on Saturday by concerned relatives after the pair failed to arrive in NSW. Tasmania Police Inspector Nick Clark said the pilot was 'very experienced' and a key member of the local aero club. But he added the plane itself was 'new to him,' having only been purchased three to four months ago. 'We believe he has had several flights prior to this incident,' Clark said. 'Any body of water is difficult to search. The main thing is, though, that this is still a search operation.' 5 Rescue workers are searching the area near the flight's path Credit: Australian Maritime Safety Authority 5 A Tasmania Police boat involved in the search operation Credit: ABC News: Mackenzie Heard The disappearance triggered an immediate and large-scale search effort, coordinated by AMSA. Air and marine assets from Tasmania Police, Victoria Police, and regional airline Par Avion have been combing the area. AMSA previously said: 'Just after 5pm on Saturday evening, concern was raised after the aircraft failed to land in Central Western NSW. 'Search efforts are underway across northern Tasmania around George Town, over the Bass Strait and southern Victoria around Morwell and Leongatha.' Anyone travelling near George Town, crossing Bass Strait, or along southern Victoria's coastline is urged to report any signs of wreckage to AMSA or Tasmania Police immediately. In a direct appeal to the public, Inspector Clark said: 'Keep a lookout for any debris or something as simple as a life jacket or some aeroplane parts. 'If you find people in the water and it's safe to do so, please render them assistance.' The Sun has contacted AMSA and Tasmania police for more information.

Using just £30 worth of materials, she was able to completely transform bathroom. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 TikTok user Natasha showed her followers what her bathroom looked like before she got to work Credit: TikTok / @natashalawson20 In her viral video, TikTok user Natasha Lawson (@natashalawson20) showed 1.3 million viewers how she elevated the half bath in her home. On a mission to turn her "council house into a home," the TikToker is carrying out a series of DIY projects throughout the space. This included doing up the guest bathroom on a penny-pinching budget. New floor She spent the bulk of her budget on vinyl to transform the floor, opting for a rustic wooden pattern. "This job has been long coming for a while now because I absolutely hate my bathroom," Natasha told her followers. After ripping up the old vinyl, which was splattered with paint, she got to work. The TikToker carefully cut and laid out the new vinyl flooring, before trimming the edges and applying a sealant to protect it from trapped moisture. "I thought it would look so nice with the green and then obviously the marble as well," Natasha said, adding that it is now her "favourite room in the house". While she was intially hesitant if the vinyl would work as "the main flooring", the mum revealed that it "actually held really well". Finishing touches She also carried out other finishing touches including using the £2 Crowne Matchpot Breath Easy from Wicke's to create neater lines after her paint job. My council flat is so stylish thanks to second-hand finds - plus the treasure chest place you need to look for bargains Natasha also used her steady hand to paint the wooden block "under the toilet". And she applied a layer of gloss to the skirting boards in the bathroom. She also added some decor throughout the space, including a clock on the wall, a candle holder on the window sill, and a wax burner she picked up for just 99p from Aldi. Then Natasha stood back and admired "how much nicer" the room looked. She shared a side by side comparison of the transformation for her audience to see. How to do your council house up on the cheap Take inspiration from pricier shops and head to B&M, Home Bargains for interior decorations. Head to YouTube for easy to follow tutorials on how to decorate rather than paying for professionals. For a quick glow-up for your floors or anywhere with tiles, opt for stick-on vinyl to save on costs. A lick of paint does wonders to make a room feel brand-new. Switch out kitchen cupboard knobs for modern ones instead of buying brand-new cupboards. The bathroom was origingally painted in a "washed out" grey, which she explained was the reason why she hated it. Natasha shared her plans to add a black matte shelf with hanging plants at some point. Her followers shared their thoughts on the transformation in the comments section. "I love it, I'm going to do it now you've done it," wrote one impressed viewer. "Love the bathroom," agreed another follower. "You've done amazing," commented a third person. And the bathroom makeover isn't the only DIY work Natasha has carried out in her home, she used an Ikea mirror trick to give the space a luxury finish. More on council houses And another woman revealed that she is nowhere near finished her council house renovation despite already spending £15,000. One TikToker did up the hallway of her council house using all B&Q buys. Another woman used buys from B&M and Shein to decorate her council house. A 21-year-old mum bagged her dream home after rejecting every council house on offer.

Death of a duck-billed platypus gifted to Winston Churchill by Aussies finally uncovered
The animal's fate was covered up to avoid a public outcry FOR DUCK'S SAKE Death of a duck-billed platypus gifted to Winston Churchill by Aussies finally uncovered Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE truth over the death of a duck-billed platypus sent to Winston Churchill as a wartime gift has finally been uncovered. Researchers found the baby monotreme cooked to death on its long journey to Britain from Australia. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 The duck-billed platypus was plucked from a Melbourne river, nicknamed Winston and shipped off on a 45-day voyage Credit: Getty - Contributor Its fate was covered up to avoid a public outcry and when it leaked a few years later was blamed on shock from German U-boat attacks on the ship on which it was carried. The truth was uncovered by students who found the ship was never bombed — and the platypus succumbed to the 27C-plus heat as it crossed the equator. Researcher Ewan Cowan said: 'It's way easier to just shift the blame on the Germans, rather than say we weren't feeding it enough, or we weren't regulating its temperature correctly.' Australia, fearing the Japanese were moving ever closer, sent the platypus to curry favour with wartime PM Churchill in 1943. It was plucked from a Melbourne river, nicknamed Winston and shipped off on a 45-day voyage, pampered with 50,000 worms, duck-egg custard and even its own full-time minder. But after crossing the Panama Canal into the Atlantic, it was found dead in its purpose-built pen. The mission was hushed up while Winston was stuffed and shelved in Churchill's office. But Australian students got to the truth by trawling archives in Canberra and London. They found an interview with Winston's minder, who insisted the crossing was peaceful.
