A media company has created a travel influencer who never needs a passport, never takes a break — and yet is always on one. Collective Artists Network has introduced Radhika Subramaniam , a bilingual AI-generated personality who speaks both Tamil and English. Designed to travel across India and share stories rooted in culture and identity, Radhika is India's first virtual travel influencer built entirely by artificial intelligence.Radhika follows the earlier introduction of Kavya, a millennial-focused AI influencer who promotes aspirational and luxury content. In contrast, Radhika is positioned as a solo traveller representing Gen Z values, with a backstory that includes leaving a secure corporate job to travel across India.Describing the new virtual personality , Vijay Subramaniam, Founder and Group CEO of Collective Artists Network, said, 'Radhika feels like someone we all know, that one friend who took the leap and actually went on the trip. She's thoughtful, independent, and interested in the world around her. With her, we wanted to build more than just a new kind of influencer — we wanted to create someone who could tell stories with heart, and make people feel seen.'An AI travel influencer is a computer-generated personality created using artificial intelligence tools such as generative design, machine learning, and natural language processing. These virtual characters are built with specific personalities, backstories, and communication styles, allowing them to post on social media, interact with users, and promote destinations or products—just like human influencers. AI influencers can be tailored for different audiences and are always available to produce consistent content without real-world limitations.India is not alone in exploring this space. In 2023, the German National Tourist Board introduced Emma, an AI-generated travel ambassador created to promote tourism in Germany. Emma is portrayed as a young, enthusiastic traveller fluent in 20 languages, including English in a British accent. She was launched through a video campaign and described as an 'innovative, interactive brand ambassador' designed to engage global audiences digitally.According to the company, the storytelling ability of Radhika sets her apart in the influencer space. Sudeep Subhash, Chief Revenue Officer at Collective Artists Network and CEO of Big Bang Social, said, 'There's a warmth to Radhika that's hard to fake. She's not just spitting out trends or trying to be viral — she actually gets the context. For brands, that's gold. India-UK free trade pact gets cabinet nod, signing set for 24 July in London
New Delhi: The Union cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday approved the India-UK free trade agreement, paving the way for the much-awaited formal signing of the pact during Modi's visit to London on 24 July, said two government officials, asking not to be identified. Modi begins a four-day trip on Wednesday that will take him to the UK and the Maldives, with the signing of the free trade agreement (FTA) in London expected to be a key highlight. India and the UK had concluded negotiations for the deal on 6 May after more than two years of talks. UK Parliament must ratify The pact, which also includes chapters on services, innovation, government procurement, intellectual property rights and anti-corruption, will come into effect after it is ratified by the UK Parliament, which may take another six months. As per practice, the agreement will be signed by the commerce ministers of both countries, but officials said the Prime Minister's presence will add political significance to the event. The pact will mark India's first major bilateral trade agreement with a developed Western economy since the Modi government accelerated its FTA agenda -- part of a wider strategy to diversify export markets and attract investments. Separately, India and the UK have also concluded negotiations on a social security agreement—called the Double Contribution Convention—that will allow Indian professionals working in Britain on short-term assignments to avoid paying into both countries' social security systems. The FTA does not include the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) —the so-called carbon tax—at this stage, but both officials said it will be taken up for discussions later. The total bilateral trade stood at $21.34 billion in 2023-24, up from $20.36 billion in the previous year.

Cabinet clears UK FTA ahead of PM's London visit; deal text expected this week
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the UK this week, where he is expected to formally sign the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with his counterpart Keir Starmer, the Cabinet on Tuesday approved the deal. While the deal was announced on May 6, the text of the agreement was due to be released as legal scrubbing was ongoing. The formal signing is expected on June 24 in the UK, where PM Modi will be accompanied by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. The Cabinet decision, PTI reported, comes ahead of Modi's four-day visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives from Wednesday. However, the agreement will come into effect only after it is also passed by the British Parliament. The signing of the deal comes after a period of significant political turmoil in the UK over the past three years, during which London saw three different Prime Ministers. The deal was finally announced after the Starmer-led Labour Party secured a landslide election victory. For India, the UK deal is the first major trade agreement with a Western country since New Delhi decided to quit negotiations to enter the China-led Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in 2019. While the agreement is expected to open the UK market for Indian textile and leather products, the deal text will reveal how India addressed the looming concern over the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which is expected to significantly impact India's metal exports to the UK. The UK deal assumes significance as it marks the beginning of integration between the advanced services sector in the UK and that of India. India has also opened its doors to high-end British cars and whisky, albeit in a phased manner. The India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) ensures comprehensive market access for goods across all sectors, covering all of India's export interests. India will gain from tariff elimination on approximately 99 per cent of tariff lines, covering nearly 100 per cent of trade value — offering opportunities to boost bilateral trade between India and the UK, the Commerce and Industry Ministry said. The pact includes chapters on goods, services, innovation, government procurement, and intellectual property rights. The two countries have also concluded negotiations on the Double Contribution Convention Agreement, or social security pact. It would help avoid double contributions to social security funds by Indian professionals working for a limited period in Britain. However, talks on the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) are still ongoing. Government officials have pointed out that the India-UK trade deal is also significant as it is one of the most comprehensive free trade agreements that India has entered into so far and could serve as a template for future engagements, including the multiple trade deals currently under negotiation — such as the complex agreement with the European Union. The Ministry had said that the UK FTA will ease mobility for professionals, including contractual service suppliers; business visitors; investors; intra-corporate transferees; partners and dependent children of intra-corporate transferees with the right to work; and independent professionals such as yoga instructors, musicians and chefs. India's exports to the UK rose by 12.6 per cent to $14.5 billion, while imports grew by 2.3 per cent to $8.6 billion in 2024–25. Digital push: Vypeen to launch e-libraries in all high schools
Kochi: In a pioneering step towards promoting digital literacy and access to knowledge, e-libraries will be set up across all higher secondary schools (HSS), vocational higher secondary schools and high schools within Vypeen constituency. According to MLA K N Unnikrishnan, this initiative will make Vypeen the first constituency in the state where every high school has a digital library. The inauguration of the constituency-wide project will be held at the St Mary's High School ground in Pallippuram at 10am on July 29. Kerala legislative assembly speaker A N Shamseer will inaugurate the event, with MLA Unnikrishnan presiding. This innovative initiative, spearheaded by Unnikrishnan, aims to shape a brighter future for the community. "The digital libraries will host an extensive collection of top-quality books accessible to both students and public.
