Pregnant teen 'drug mule' appears in court with bump as dad blows her a kiss

The 19-year-old Brit, caught allegedly taking cannabis into the ex-Soviet state of Georgia, was said to have been told by her dad to 'stay strong' ahead of her trial
Pregnant Brit 'drug mule' Bella May Culley appeared in court today sporting a visible baby bump – as her dad was spotted blowing her a kiss.
Bella, who was caught allegedly taking cannabis into the ex-Soviet state of Georgia, faces life in prison. The 19-year-old was asked by the judge what her position was to the charge and she used her right to remain silent. Her dad, Niel, was in the courtroom in capital Tbilisi where he blew her a kiss as his daughter left the short hearing. Bella's trial had been expected to start today but proceedings were postponed with the teen due in court again on 24 July.
The teen's dad told his daughter to "stay strong", the BBC reported. It comes after Bella sobbed when she appeared in a Tbilisi court room at a hearing earlier this month – claiming she had been 'forced by torture'.
'I didn't want to do this. I was forced by torture. I just wanted to travel. I study at the university… to become a nurse,' she told Tbilisi City Court on July 1. 'All I wanted to do was to travel and this happened to me. I'm clean - I had nothing in my blood test. I wanted to make my family proud. Thanks for listening.'
Bella's lawyer Malkaz Salakaia asked his client to show the court her arm with a scar – apparently caused by an iron in Thailand. The teenager – who was wearing a pink T-shirt– stood up showing the court her arm and cleared her tears before sitting down, looking at her family.
Mr Salakaia said his client was tortured with a hot iron on her right arm by a criminal group that gave her the drugs. Bella approached a policeman to seek help but he turned out to be part of the criminal group too, the lawyer told the court.
She was told she would be approached by some people in Tbilisi airport, but this did not happen as she was taken by the customs officer already, the lawyer said. The Brit went missing in Thailand before turning up in Georgia in May, accused of taking in about 14kg of cannabis and hashish into the country.
The prosecutor, Davit Mestvirishvili, said evidence consisted of the illegal drugs, as well as footage from Ms Culley's phone and iPad. In May Bella, Bella, from Billingham, Teesside, told a court she was pregnant.

US court orders George Gibney's extradition to Ireland

US magistrate Judge Daniel Irick made the order at a hearing in Florida on Friday. Mr Gibney appeared in federal court in Orlando before Judge Irick. In court documents, seen by the PA news agency, it stated that Mr Gibney is sought by the Irish Government, which has filed charges against him and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Mr Gibney has been charged with 78 counts of indecent assault and one charge of attempted rape against four minor females aged between eight and 15 years at the time of the alleged offences. Earlier this week, Mr Gibney had agreed to being extradited from the US to stand trial over multiple sex offence charges. He also withdrew a request to contest his continued detention, which was due to be heard in court on Friday. Mr Gibney, who had sex offence charges against him dismissed in the 1990s, has lived in the US for years. He was arrested on an Irish extradition warrant earlier this month. An order was made to remand Mr Gibney into the custody of the US Marshal pending the arrival of representatives of the Irish Government to transport him back to Ireland. It was also ordered that the transfer of Mr Gibney from custody will take place at a time agreed by the US Marshal and the Irish Government authorities. Mr Gibney's lawyer, Alec Fitzgerald Hall, said on Thursday that after meeting his client to discuss the case, the former swimming team coach agreed to be extradited to Ireland. Mr Gibney will be extradited to Ireland and is likely to appear before a Dublin court, however it is not yet known when this will take place. In 2020, the podcast Where Is George Gibney, produced by Second Captains and the BBC, highlighted allegations of abuse against Mr Gibney and prompted new complainants to come forward.

Fugitive ‘White Widow' terrorist Samantha Lewthwaite ‘is still alive and active in terror cell financing jihadists'

A new investigation has given fresh clues as to where the long-wanted extremist might have been WIDOW MOST WANTED Fugitive 'White Widow' terrorist Samantha Lewthwaite 'is still alive and active in terror cell financing jihadists' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE notorious 'White Widow' Brit terrorist linked to 400 deaths who married a 7/7 suicide bomber is still alive and active in terror cells, a new investigation has claimed. Samantha Lewthwaite has been one of the world's most wanted terrorists having eluded capture for years. But an investigation from the Daily Mail has shed lights on the possible whereabouts of a figure linked to a series of ghastly attacks. It comes as Britain marks 20 years since the London bombings on July 7, 2005 this week, in which 52 people died and hundreds were injured. Lewthwaite, who was born in Northern Ireland and grew up in Aylesbury, was married to one of the suicide bombers, Germaine Lindsay. read more in world news PILOT 'MISTAKE' Air India pilots made fatal error after takeoff, crash investigators claim She denied knowing he planned to blow up a tube train, but her subsequent alleged involvement with other terrorists has cast doubt on that. The now 41-year-old left the UK in 2009 and went to South Africa, before heading on to Tanzania in 2011 and then to Kenya. Lewthwaite was put on Interpol's red list of fugitives in 2013 after a shopping mall massacre in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, in which 67 died. She is also accused of orchestrating the attack in Mombasa targeting England fans during Euro 2012, and two other deadly attacks in the country. The Brit has been in total linked to around 400 deaths. Security services across Africa and the Middle East have tried to track her down without any success for a decade and a half. At a court hearing in 2014, one Kenyan detective said: "She is a person with multiple identification. "She keeps moving. We think she is using plastic surgery including her nose." But it is now believed she is still alive and was spotted in Uganda as recently as last year. She is allegedly now based in Somalia, where she is part of an al-Shabaab cell - an al-Qaeda affiliate. "Despite not knowing her exact location, we believe she is active in terrorism activities under al-Shabaab control in Somalia," a source said. The White Widow was also reported to be the "main financier" of the cell, operating in a logistical role. In this position, she allegedly controls the money instead of working on the front lines. She is also said to be a fan of Beyonce and Weetabix. Police previously crossed paths briefly with Lewthwaite when investigating a property in Mombasa in 2011. A British man called Jermaine Grant was arrested when fuses and ammunition were found stashed under a sofa - and he named Lewthwaite as the senior cell member. While cops discovered she was in the adjacent apartment, the passport they found was in a different name. Lewthwaite had fled by the time they realised the passport was a fake. This was the last confirmed sighting of her. It is now alleged the officers accepted a bribe of five million Kenyan dollars (nearly £30,000) from her when they went to the apartment. In 2018, there were alleged sightings in Yemen where she was said to be offering as little as £300 to the desperate families of young women to persuade them to become suicide bombers. She has not yet been charged with any of those offences. As a teenager she was seduced by the teachings of extremist cleric, Trevor Forrest, or Sheik Abdullah el-Faisal. Lewthwaite even visited him in prison in 2006, a year after the bombings. Through el-Faisal she met first husband, bomber Germaine Lindsay who killed himself and 26 others on the Tube in July 7, 2005. 6 Germaine Lindsay and Samantha Lewthwaite Credit: ©2020 Netflix, Inc.

Gregg Wallace 'was warned by the BBC six years ago that he would be sacked if he continued to behave inappropriately'

Gregg Wallace was warned six years ago by the BBC that he would be sacked if he continued to behave inappropriately, it was reported last night. A BBC executive wrote to the MasterChef presenter, 60, in 2019 following complaints and he was told the corporation would cut ties with him if it learnt of further allegations, it was claimed. But upon hearing further claims about Wallace's inappropriate behaviour, the BBC did not follow through, The Daily Telegraph reported. It emerged this week that Wallace has been banned from working at the BBC after executives decided they were not confident that he could change his behaviour. But in 2019 Kate Phillips – then director of unscripted television and now chief content officer – issued an official warning to Wallace about his behaviour. 'The BBC will not tolerate behaviour to occur on any productions that is inappropriate, unprofessional and/or has the effect on individuals to feel sexually harassed,' she wrote. 'It would be regrettable and disappointing to learn of any further incidents. In such circumstances the BBC would need to seriously consider its future working relationship with you.' An independent report by Lewis Silkins, which was commissioned by MasterChef producers Banijay in November after initial allegations against Wallace, is yet to be published. Wallace insists he has been cleared of the most serious allegations of groping but it is understood he was found to have made repeated inappropriate comments. He came out earlier this week to defend himself and recognised 'that some of my humour and language, at times, was inappropriate' for which he apologised for 'without reservation'. The dismissal letter from the BBC, first obtained by The Telegraph, noted 'you were a presenter on a flagship BBC show' and 'the impact that your comments had on the BBC's reputation'. The letter, from Claire Powell, head of compliance for BBC Television, adds: 'I have also taken into account whether your behaviour could be improved with training and/or coaching. 'However, I do not have the confidence that you can change what seems to be learned behaviour for you to make what you perceive to be jokes in the working environment. 'I also have to consider the fact that various people in the BBC have spoken to you about your behaviour over the course of your career, and that you also received training/coaching in 2019.'
