3 Texas A&M players are expected to be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft
However, senior ace pitcher Ryan Prager is not ranked within MLB Pipeline's Top 250 prospect list despite being selected in the 3rd round by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2024 MLB Draft. Choosing to return for what was expected to be his final season in College Station, Prager struggled during the majority of his starts, finishing with a 4-4 record, 4.21 ERA, and 73 strikeouts.
Compared to his 9-1 finish during the Aggies' College World Series run in 2024, Prager was expected to improve, but as we've seen with star pitchers in the past, it's sometimes a mistake to return after being selected in the first three rounds.
While there is a slight possibility that Prager returns, Justin Lamkin and Shane Sdao are the two other players to watch, especially Sdao, who, after missing the entirety of the 2024 season, may not see his draft status rise any further than it currently sits. Lamkin, who finished with a 5-7 record and 3.42 ERA, finished with 98 strikeouts, while his complete, hitless game against the Georgia Bulldogs included 15 Ks in the best outing of his Aggie career.
According to MLB Pipeline's 250 rankings, LaViolette comes in at No. 20, Lamkin at No. 111, and Sdao at No. 116. Even if all three players are selected, they still possess the option to return to Texas A&M for the 2026 season.

Nationals take 17-year-old Eli Willits with No 1 pick in MLB Draft
High school shortstop Eli Willits became the latest teenager to take a big step in making his professional baseball dreams come true. The Washington Nationals selected Willits with the No. 1 overall pick of the MLB amateur draft on Sunday night. At 17 years old, he's the youngest player taken No. 1 since Ken Griffey Jr. in 1987 with the Seattle Mariners. He's the son of ex-major leaguer Reggie Willits, who played for the Los Angeles Angels and was a coach with the New York Yankees. Willits played baseball at Fort Cobb-Broxton High School in Oklahoma. He's a switch-hitting shortstop who is expected to put more power into his swing as he develops. "I feel like I have good hitability, and I'm going to take that to the next level," Willits said about his strengths. "And I feel like my power is up and coming, but I needed to get into an organization like the Nationals that can help develop that and take that to the next level." Willits is 17 years and 216 days old. Griffey was 17 and 193 days old when the Mariners chose him No. 1. Tim Foli, who was the top pick in 1968, was the youngest at 17 years, 180 days old, according to The Nationals' selection came a week after the organization fired manager Dave Martinez and general manager Mike Rizzo. But Nationals interim general manager Mike DeBartolo maintained that Willits was the top guy on the board. "It's one of those nice things where the scouts and the analysts see things exactly the same way and saw him as the best hitter in the draft, the best fielder in the draft with just great makeup, great work ethic and all the intangibles," DeBartolo said, via Willits hit .473 with an OPS of .912 in his final year in high school. Saugerties High School grad Ethan Conrad drafted 17th overall by the Chicago Cubs
Ethan Conrad, a Saugerties High School graduate and former Marist University baseball standout, was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft on Sunday. Conrad also played two seasons with the Saugerties Stallions summer league. Conrad, a junior at Wake Forest University, was selected with the 17th overall pick. In a season shortened by injury, Conrad played 21 games for the Demon Deacons, batting .372, slugging .744, collecting 29 hits, which includes eight doubles and seven homers. Ethan Conrad.
