46 Comfy Travel Pants on Major Sale This Fourth of July—Up to 81% Off
Whether you're on the lookout for a new pair of stretchy leggings or hoping to score a breezy pair of palazzos ahead of your next summer adventure, this roundup of comfy pants is perfect for every type of traveler. Keep scrolling for shockingly good deals on travel pants we (and thousands of shoppers around the world) are obsessed with—up to 81 percent off through the long weekend.
Some of the best Fourth of July travel pant deals we've spotted include major markdowns on Travel + Leisure -tested brands like Lululemon and The North Face, Oprah-loved brands like Vuori, and even rarely-discounted items like Madewell The Harlow Wide-leg Trouser in Brushed Twill (which is a jaw-dropping $90 off). This Fourth of July weekend, you can also save nearly $40 on Eddie Bauer's Men's Rainier Pants, and almost $20 Skeckers' Women's Go Walk Pant.
In the market for a new pair of sweatpants? I recommend Lululemon's Women's Scuba Mid-rise Oversized Jogger. These soft and roomy pants are made of a cotton-blend fleece fabric and are naturally breathable, meaning they'll keep you cozy without the risk of overheating. Other great features include hand pockets, a hidden card sleeve, and a drawcord waist.
It's no secret that Amazon is a goldmine of deals on everything from clothing to outdoor gear. Right now, there are major discounts on comfy travel pants from brands I love. Consider dropping the Sunzel Flare Leggings in your cart while they're 35 percent off, or Eddie Bauer Men's Rainier Pants while they're 56 percent off. The popular Sketchers Women's Go Walk Pant is also marked down by 40 percent, and a pair of Cnbqdd Jogger Pants is just $14.
I love the Skeckers Women's Go Walk Pant because it's truly the wear-everywhere bottom. Crafted from a nylon-spandex blend, it's both stretchy and durable, yet it has a soft, cotton-like feel. A compression waistband helps with tummy control and comfort while flying, and a semi-flare hem allows you to pair these with anything in your closet. To top it all off, these pants have both side and back pockets so you can keep your most important essentials on hand.
You'll feel just as comfortable on the plane as you will in the mountains while wearing Eddie Bauer Men's Rainier Pants. Available in multiple size and length combinations, these travel pants feature articulated knees for mobility, as well as StormRepel DWR that wicks away moisture, plus FreeShade UPF 50+ sun protection.
I'd be lying if I said a Nordstrom shopping spree wasn't one of my guilty pleasures—so I'll be taking advantage of these cozy travel pant Fourth of July sales while they last. Mona's High Waist Ankle Wide Leg Trouser Jeans and Zella's Move In Pocket Joggers both boast a 50-percent discount, while prices on Liverpool Los Angeles' Kelsey Wide Leg Knit Pants have been slashed by an impressive 65 percent. Other Nordstrom styles are down by nearly $20.
These Mona Trouser Jeans are so stylish, you'd almost never guess they're incredibly comfy for travel days, too. They have a slimming high-waist silhouette, and provide a bit of stretch for extra mobility. They're constructed from a cotton, polyester, and elastane blend, have four functional exterior pockets, and cut off right at the ankle for a modern, contemporary look.
You know a pair of pants with 'move' in the name are bound to be comfortable. These lightweight joggers are a dream to travel and move around in, thanks to their stretchy polyester-spandex blend, making them feel like leggings. Despite their comfort, though, they're still stylish enough to wear while running errands or on a walking tour.
You know you're getting a high-quality, long-lasting piece when you shop at Madewell. This weekend, you can snag some of their best on-sale travel pants for an additional 30 percent off when you apply the code SUMMERTIME at checkout. Grab these work-ready Harlow Wide-leg Trousers in Brushed Twill for 76 percent off, or these Zoe Relaxed Wide Pants in 100% Linen for 55 percent off. Other popular pants, like the Easy Pull-on, Straight-flare Trouser, and Superwide-leg Trouser all range from 50 to 55 percent off.
It's hard to pass up a stylish pair of pants—especially when they're a whopping 76 percent off. The Harlow Wide-leg Trouser in Brushed Twill comes in a wide range of sizes and lengths and looks just as gorgeous on business trips as it does at dinner at the resort. The pants are chock full of useful features like an adjustable back slider tab and fitted wide legs for a cleaner look.
We love how put-together these wide-leg pants make us look—but they still feel breezy, thanks to their linen material. The high-rise waist is trendy and flattering, and their multiple pockets make them a functional piece to travel with. Wear them to the beach, or even to the office: Either way, you're sure to look stylish and feel comfortable.
Who doesn't love scoring a few dollars off Lululemon's iconic selection of leggings and pants? You can take home styles like the Scuba Mid-rise Oversized Jogger, the Soft Jersey Jogger for half-off. Too, you can save up to $49 on these stretchy Align High-rise Pants. I'm also eyeing the Pace Breaker Pant that's currently just $99, the Softstreme High-rise Wide-leg Cropped Pant, $79, and the Swift Mid-rise Wide-leg Pant, which has certain colors and styles as low as $69.
There are few leggings as well-known and well-loved as Lululemon's Align Pants. This high-rise iteration of the legging style, with a 25-inch inseam, fits beautifully and feels even better on long-haul flights, road trips, and days spent exploring new towns. They're some of the softest and lightest-weight pants around—plus, they have a hidden waistband pocket, sweat-wicking properties, and excellent breathability.
Whether you're lounging or sightseeing in these comfy Lululemon joggers, you'll always feel at ease and look good doing so. Not only are they soft, stretchy, and slim-fitting, but they're also sweat-wicking, quick-drying, and lightweight. I guarantee they'll last you through years of travels and outdoor activities—so considering some sizes are as low as $49, they're a steal.
Vuori makes some of the comfiest travel clothes around, so you can bet I'll be adding some of the brand's on-sale pants to my cart. While many styles—including the Performance Jogger, Daily Pocket Legging, and Men's Aim Pant are sitting at 20 percent off right now—the Women's Ripstop Pant is currently 30 percent off, and the Men's Vintage Ripstop Pant has an even more impressive discount of 40 percent off. $108 $64 at Vuoriclothing.com
These Vuori's Men's Vintage Ripstop Pants are so comfy and stylish, you'll want to wear them everywhere. They're made with DuraTerra ripstop fabric for ultimate durability, and have a relaxed fit and two-way stretch for added mobility. These pants are also outfitted with a drawstring waist, front slip pockets, and back zipper pockets, and have a casual style that works well for a variety of occasions. $98 $68 at Vuoriclothing.com
Nothing provides comfort like a classic, slightly oversized pair of sweats. Vouri's Boyfriend Sweatpant is one of the comfiest choices around, thanks to brushed jersey material, four-way stretch, and moisture-wicking capabilities. It even has a foldable elastic waistband with a drawcord for a customized fit.
REI's clothing selections are made for the rugged outdoors—so if you're in the market for some durable yet super comfy pants this July Fourth weekend, look no further than these deals. These Free Country Stretch Casual Pants are down by 31 percent right now, while the Free Country Get Out There Convertible Pants follow closely behind at 30 percent off each. Even these premiere The North Face travel pants are 25 percent off, and these Prana joggers are nearly $30 off their original price.
I believe everyone should own at least one pair of pants from The North Face during their lifetime. The brand really knows what it's doing when it comes to constructing pants that prioritize comfort and quality, making them an ideal choice for grueling travel days. This pair features FlashDry technology to keep moisture out, as well as an elastic waistband with an adjustable drawcord, UPF 40+ sun protection, articulated knees, and both secure-zip and open welt pockets.
Whether you travel in them, wear them on a hike, or simply lounge in them after a day of outdoor adventure, these Prana joggers are sure to keep you comfy. These four-way stretch pants feature an elastic waistband, stretchy ankle cuffs, and a midrise waist for easy comfort. Plus, they have multiple front and back pockets to stash small items while on-the-go.
Gap-owned activewear brand Athleta expertly combines style, comfort, and quality, which is why some of the pant styles below have been on my shopping wish list for quite some time. Looking for some serious discounts this holiday weekend? These Retreat High-rise Linen Ankle Pants and Brooklyn Heights High-rise Cargo Pants are both 45 percent off. You can also score 40 percent off these Salutation Stash High-rise Capri Leggings, while the Elation Ultra High-rise 7/8 Leggings are 30 percent off. But that's not all: During Athleta's Semi-Annual Sale, the brand is offering an additional 30 percent off Final Sale items, which means you can score these Pacesetter leggings for as low as $18, and these Trekkie Relaxed Mid Rise Joggers for just $21.
When it comes to women's lounge pants, it doesn't get much cuter than Athleta's Retreat High-rise Linen Ankle Pants. These relaxed, breezy pants are designed to flow with you while you move, making them a foolproof choice for vacations, flights, and errand runs. Multiple zippered pockets and an elastic drawstring waist keep things casual (and practical).
Cargo pants are perfect for travel since they're roomy and packed with extra pockets you can actually use. I love this pair from Athleta; they're super lightweight, made with recycled materials, and look unbelievably cool in the air or on the road. They're available in five neutral shades and 30 sizes, including tall and petite lengths, so you can find the pair that's right for you.
If you're looking for discounts on trending styles, head over to Alo Yoga. This popular apparel shop has travel-friendly pants on sale for up to 40 percent off right now. This 7/8 High-waist Airbrush Legging leads the pack with a 40-percent discount, while this Mid-rise Showdown Trouser takes second place, touting 30 percent off its original price. This Show Off Cargo Wide-leg Trouser is also down by 20 percent.
Thinking about finally trying out Alo Yoga pants? Go with these Mid-rise Showdown Trousers while they're $48. They're versatile enough to wear during travel or everyday activities, and have a unique cutout waistband that adds some serious style. This pant is designed with a relaxed, slightly oversized fit to keep things comfortable and mobile, so don't be shy about grabbing multiple pairs while it's on sale.
I love these leggings for their waist-cinching abilities, unique skinny waistband, and high-rise style. They're also built to sculpt and smooth, further ensuring everyone who puts these on looks their absolute best. To top it all off, they feature toe hook covers (or stirrups) to keep the pants perfectly in place on your body, no matter your activity.

Go to the beach, just don't get wet. Bacteria warnings issued ahead of July 4th at 8 beaches
With the Fourth of July weekend, local beach lovers are ready to hit the shores. Authorities, however, are warning visitors to avoid any beach activities that involve getting wet at eight beaches. The warnings have been issued ahead of the holiday weekend due to excessive bacterial levels, county officials said. The Los Angeles County Public Health Department released a statement on Wednesday warning residents to avoid surfing, swimming and any other ocean-water activity after tests indicated that street runoff had increased bacterial levels at certain beaches. 'Swimming in water with bacteria can make you sick or cause skin infections,' the department said in astatement. 'Children, the elderly, and those who have weak immune systems are at higher risk of getting sick or infected.' The department could not estimate when the warnings would be lifted, but state law requires weekly tests be conducted on the waters. The following beaches were affected: · Avalon Beach at Catalina Island: the swimming area 50 feet west of Green Pleasure Pier and the Step Beach swim area east of the Casino arch. · Santa Monica Beach: Santa Monica North Lifeguard Tower 12 and 100 yards up and down the coast from the Wilshire Boulevard storm drain. · Ramirez Creek at Paradise Cove in Malibu: 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier. · Will Rogers State Beach: 100 yards up and down coast from the Bel Air Bay Club border fence. · Mothers Beach in Marina Del Rey: the entire swim area. · Topanga Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the Castlerock storm drain. · Santa Monica Beach: 100 yards up and down the coast from the Santa Monica Pier. · Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro: the entire swim area. The health department will issue updates as they become available.

Colorado mountain travel along I-70 to see heavy congestion over July 4th holiday weekend
Those driving to Colorado's mountains to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend will likely encounter heavy traffic along Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 285. The holiday kicks off higher traffic volume in the high country, with summer tourism hitting its peak over the next six to seven weeks, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The department is urging motorists to plan ahead if traveling to or from the mountains July 3-6. The Fourth of July is on Friday. Last year over the Fourth of July holiday period, more than 235,000 vehicles traveled through the Eisenhower/Johnson Memorial tunnels along I-70. With the holiday falling on Friday, westbound I-70 will see the heaviest volume the afternoon of July 3 through the morning of July 4. Heaviest I-70 eastbound returning traffic from the mountains will take place the afternoon of July 6, which is Sunday. Here are ways you can beat the congestion: This allows you to see the travel forecast to plan your departure time. For real-time traffic information, road conditions and live cameras. To ease congestion, the Colorado Department of Transportation is suspending all construction and maintenance work across the state starting at noon July 3 through the morning of July 7. That means less of a bottleneck at major projects like the I-70 Floyd Hill Project, which suspended construction starting June 30. Congestion still may occur in construction areas due to reduced speed limits. Leave the driving to someone else by taking public transportation options, including Bustang, Pegasus and Bustang Outrider. The buses provide service to many mountain areas, including Estes Park. With Fourth of July weekend here, can you still find cheap travel with a tight window?
With Fourth of July weekend here, can you still find cheap travel with a tight window? With Fourth of July weekend here, can you still find cheap travel with a tight window? With Fourth of July weekend here, can you still find cheap travel with a tight window? The Fourth of July weekend is here, which means your time to plan a summer getaway is starting to run out. So, can you still find cheap travel with a tight window? CBS News Miami went hunting for some deals. Illiett Ojeida said she travels about six times a year, often with little planning. Spontaneity is her guide, and she doesn't always go to tourist traps. "Sometimes, honestly, the most spontaneous trips have been short-planned," Ojeda said. "Very adorable, and we have the best experiences." She told CBS News Miami she's learned how to navigate these trips through scouring social media, reading travel blogs from other moms, and even using AI. "I love just hidden gems that we have to kind of just figure out how we're going to get there," Ojeda said. Her family's most recent trip was to Arizona for Memorial Day. Ojeda found out that flying to Las Vegas and driving to their destination cost less than flying directly to Arizona. "Going to Vegas, making something special about that stop and then driving over part of the road trip experience — it made a huge financial difference," Ojeda said. Richie Massa, the managing partner of the Lorraine Travel Agency, said you likely won't find many deals this late in the summer if you want to go to international destination spots like Greece or Italy, but added you could get more for less if you go to some place less popular, or a place in the offseason. "That could be the Caribbean and more specifically a lesser-known Caribbean island," Massa said. "These places, nonstop flights from Miami. They're gonna provide immediate value compared to more in season." Massa said a place like Portugal can be 30-40% cheaper compared to Italy or France this time of year. And he said outdoor enthusiasts can save up to 50-60% if they go to Canada compared to Aspen in the summer. "They're not the place that the usual traveler thinks of. Less tourists, better value," Massa said. If you're looking for deals online, Amazon has travel deals for Prime Day. You can save on gas, rental cars, cruises and select hotels. Some of those deals are available now. Ojeda said when you're done exploring and need a place to crash, she usually finds better prices on Airbnb compared to hotels. "I feel like the gem of being in an Airbnb gives that whole personal experience," Ojeda said. Massa says if you want to save money traveling internationally, you should go to a place that has better currency exchange rates. That means countries like Japan, Canada, Argentina and Peru, your dollar is worth more in these countries than it is in the United States.
