What Penn State players are in Matt Miller's mid-summer 2026 mock draft?
The first Penn State player off the board, according to Miller would be cornerback A.J. Harris, perhaps a slightly surprising pick off the Nittany Lions' roster. But Harris has the kind of skills NFL teams are searching for in defensive backs, and a good year in the secondary could give Harris a good first-round boost at the right time. Miller has Harris projected to go to the Washington Commanders with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 draft.
Penn State has developed a nice reputation for players in the defensive secondary in recent years, and that may have been one of the reasons Harris opted to transfer to Penn State from the SEC when he did. Expect more hype for Harris moving forward.
The next Penn State player off the board is one more mock drafts seem to have a little bit higher. That would be quarterback Drew Allar, who some have projected as one for the top quarterbacks off the board. Miller is a tad less optimistic about that being the case with a few passers going ahead of Allar, but a 27th overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams seems like a decent landing spot for Allar. Could Allar end up being the heir apparent to Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford? That seems like a good situation for Allar to be in if that ends up being the case.
We will be watching the mock draft progress now until the 2026 draft to see where Allar and Harris (and others) end up being projected by some of the biggest names in the NFL draft community. There is a long way to go, so there could be many changes along the way.

Ex-NFL QB Delivered Strong Message to Commanders Amid Drama
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The start of NFL training camp is around the corner, and the Washington Commanders still have a major question mark on the availability of Terry McLaurin. What's the holdup? Nobody can take a guess, but it's gotten to the point where former players are speaking out on the situation, demanding that the Commanders give the veteran wideout his money. The former Washington quarterback Joe Theismann is the latest to sound off on the situation. Read More: AFC Contender Named as Landing Spot for Commanders Star WR "That would be a major problem for all of us that appreciate what the Commanders have done, what Terry has done," Theismann said on 'Up & Adams' this week, regarding the thought of McLaurin reaching a point of no return with the Commanders. "His intangibles and his value to this football team are even more outweighed than his talent, which we know is extreme. He needs to be paid. He needs to be paid right away. We need to put this issue behind us as a football team. He is one of the leaders, and he's a guy that you can always count on." Terry McLaurin #17 of the Washington Commanders carries the ball for a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys at Northwest Stadium on November 24, 2024 in Landover, Maryland. Terry McLaurin #17 of the Washington Commanders carries the ball for a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys at Northwest Stadium on November 24, 2024 in Landover, wasn't long ago when former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson spoke on the McLaurin situation and praised the veteran wideout for being one of the most consistent players at the position since landing in the NFL. "Pay the man because the man has been nothing but consistent," Johnson stated. "I don't know Terry very well, but from afar, the guy has been nothing but consistent for that organization. He's been a staple there in Washington for his whole career. He plays well. He steps up in big games, and I love watching the kid because he's always making plays." After his run at Ohio State, McLaurin entered the NFL Draft in 2019. He was drafted by Washington in the third round, with the 76th overall pick. From the jump, McLaurin was a handful for secondaries. He produced over 900 yards with seven touchdowns during his rookie season. Read More: Ex-NFL Star Cam Newton Asks Difficult Jayden Daniels Question Since then, McLaurin has had five-straight 1,000-yard seasons. During that stretch, he dealt with an organization that was turning over owners and quarterbacks who were cycling in and out. Last season, he landed some stability with the star quarterback Jayden Daniels getting under center. The result? McLaurin caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and scored a career-high 13 touchdowns. He was a Pro Bowler for the second time in his career and earned All-Pro for the first time. With one season left on his current deal, McLaurin is ready to lock in long-term again. With the Commanders unwilling to do so before mandatory minicamp, McLaurin steered clear of participating. The Commanders still have time to get something done, but the former Super Bowl champion Joe Theismann wants to see his former team make it happen before it's too late. Fans Saddened by NFL's Snub of Vikings' Andrew Van Ginkel
Fans Saddened by NFL's Snub of Vikings' Andrew Van Ginkel originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Andrew Van Ginkel may be an All-Pro, but he may still be overlooked. The Minnesota Vikings edge rusher signed a two-year, $20 million contract to reunite with Brian Flores last season and made a statement from the outset. Advertisement In Week 1, he snared a screen pass from New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and returned it for a pick six -- a preview of the type of season to come from the former fifth-round pick from Rock Valley, Iowa. Van Ginkel went on to have an All-Pro season, tallying a career-high 11.5 sacks, two pick-sixes, 79 tackles and 18 tackles for loss. He doubled his worth to the Vikings, who promptly re-upped and extended him an additional year to the tune of $23 million. The NFL recognized Van Ginkel, naming him to the "Top 100 Players of 2025" list for the first time in his career. But fans are upset with where he landed. Advertisement Minnesota Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (43)Matt Krohn-Imagn Images Upon the NFL's announcement that Van Ginkel was ranked No. 88 overall, fans took to social media to voice their displeasure with his placement on the list. "At least 40 spots too low," one fan wrote. "This is actually criminally low like there's gotta be voter fraud," a second fan replied. "This man deserves to be so SOOOO much higher on here," a third fan said. "You couldn't convince me there's 87 better players in the nfl then ginkle," a fourth fan added. How many outside linebackers that will be named ahead of Van Ginkel will be interesting to see. He was a dark-horse candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, and had he not dropped a Week 5 pick-six opportunity against Aaron Rodgers, he could have been at the forefront of that conversation. Advertisement Overall, Van Ginkel earned tremendous respect from his peers for making the list for the first time in career. Another impressive season under Flores could catapult him much higher now that he has a foothold in the top 100. Related: Vikings' Justin Jefferson Dealt Disrespect Due to J.J.
