TRAI releases Tariff Order for retail broadband connectivity for Public Data Offices under the PM-WANI Scheme
To ensure a balanced and inclusive approach, TRAI prescribes the following tariff framework for the PM-WANI Scheme: "Every service provider providing retail Fiber to the Home (FTTH) broadband services shall offer all of its retail FTTH broadband plans upto 200 Mbps to the PDOs under the PM-WANI scheme, at tariff not exceeding twice the tariff applicable to the retail subscribers for the corresponding FTTH broadband plan of the bandwidth (capacity) offered."
This pricing framework has been designed to appropriately balance the interests of all stakeholders by ensuring affordability for small-scale Public Data Offices (PDOs) while also providing reasonable compensation for the broadband connection to the service providers. The proposed tariff framework takes into account prevailing market scenario, current levels of adoption of PM-WANI services, as well as potential future growth. By aligning with these considerations, the framework aims to facilitate the orderly, sustainable, and inclusive growth of the public Wi-Fi ecosystem under the PM-WANI initiative.

PM-eBus Sewa scheme: Min urges Centre to give subsidies to states
Mangaluru: The central govt should provide direct subsidies to state govts to procure electric buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, instead of allocating them to private operators under the PPP model, said Karnataka transport minister Ramalinga Reddy. He was speaking after inaugurating the new automated driving test track at Kamblapadavu in Pajir village, Ullal taluk, on Sunday. The procurement and operation of electric buses was easy during the UPA regime. While the central govt was providing 50% of the fund, the state and its transport corporations had to invest 25% each to operate buses. Now, under the NDA regime, buses are not given directly to states but instead procured through tenders, and the subsidy goes to the participating bidders. They will own the buses, hire drivers, and also maintain the vehicles while the state corporations have to appoint conductors and pay the operators on a kilometre basis. The minister suggested that the central govt should directly pay the subsidy to the state transport corporations across the nation. He added that a discussion in this regard was held with Union minister HK Kumaraswamy too. Centre tells states to take strict action against those selling fake, poor quality fertilisers
New Delhi: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chauhan has written to the Chief Ministers of all States and Union Territories to take immediate and strict action against those selling counterfeit and substandard fertilisers to farmers. The letter has been issued to curb the sale of fake fertilisers, black marketing of subsidised fertilisers, and illegal activities such as forced tagging across the country, an official statement said. The Minister has emphasised, in the letter, that agriculture is the backbone of India's economy, and to ensure stability in farmers' income, it is essential to provide them with quality fertilisers at the right time, at affordable prices, and of standard quality. He has also highlighted that the sale of counterfeit or substandard fertilisers is prohibited under the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985, which falls under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has highlighted that it is the responsibility of the States to ensure adequate availability of fertilisers at the right places and locations where it is required. Therefore, states must strictly monitor and take swift action against activities such as black marketing, overpricing, and diversion of subsidised fertilisers. He has asked them to undertake regular monitoring of fertiliser production and sale, as well as strict control over counterfeit and substandard products through sampling and testing. The Union Minister has further stated that forced tagging of nano-fertilisers or bio-stimulant products along with conventional fertilisers should be stopped immediately.
