Axed Scots Gogglebox couple release heartfelt statement as fans left gutted over exit

Gogglebox stars Roisin Kelly and Joe Kelly have been brutally dumped from the show after three and half years.
Gogglebox fan favourite couple Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle have released a heartfelt statement after they were brutally dumped from the Channel 4 show. The beloved duo, who hail from Glasgow, shocked social media on Monday evening when they announced they had been axed from the programme after three and a half years despite being one of the most popular couples among Gogglebox fans.

Roisin, who celebrated her 27th birthday earlier this week, took to her social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok to announce the sad news that she and Joe, 28, had not made the cut for season 26. The pair have released an emotional joint statement following their departure.

It reads: "After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa, Channel 4 have decided it's time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family. We couldn't be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching tv with you all on Friday nights!

"It's been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don't actually need subtitles."
She continued: "We have made friends for life and after filming every week for years you have become like our family! We could not have asked for better people to work with and we will miss you immensely.

"A huge thank you to everyone who has watched us, met us and supported us during this experience, it has for sure been a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn. Miss you already, Roisin and Joe."

Channel 4 have now been advised by viewers that they have made a huge 'mistake' in axing the Scots couple who captured viewers hearts with their hilarious banter during their time on the show.
Underneath Roisin's post on TikTok, one fan fumed: "That's a stupid decision by ch4/gogglebox! Sorry to hear this."
A second chimed in: "Gutted! Their loss though."

A third echoed: "Nooo you were a favourite in our house! Very stupid move from Channel 4."
Roisin and Joe were the only Scottish cast members left on the show and fans have been quick to point out that Scotland is no longer being represented on the programme.

One complained: "Aw man, this is s****. No Scottish voices on the show anymore! You were great."
Another wrote: "Hate this! It was nice to have Scottish people and the West of Scotland sense of humour represented on TV, not worth watching anymore."
A third added: "Oh no way! Typical because they are Scottish."
Fans are hoping it won't be the last they'll see of Roisin and Joe on their screens and their Gogglebox axe means Roisin may now find the time to return to her podcast, Nags and Brags, which she co-hosts with pal and Clyde 1 breakfast show broadcaster, Cassi Gillespie.
Nags and Brags covers a variety of subjects, from dating woes to fashion faux pas, with the show temporarily being put on hiatus while Roisin and Cassie juggled their other work commitments.

Hollyoaks confirms unexpected reunion for Ste and Rex

Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) is keen to reunite with Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) in Hollyoaks next week – but not without son Lucas' (Oscar Curtis) blessing. Rex, as viewers know, targeted and groomed Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) into a world of exploitation earlier this year while working with sister Grace Black (Tamara Wall) to traffic the teens of the village. He subsequently had a change of heart and turned himself in to the police after boyfriend Ste uncovered what he did to son Lucas' boyfriend Dillon, branding his partner a 'monster'. After some persuasion from Donny Clark (Louis Emerick), Rex decides to inform on sisters Grace and Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) and next week, he's introduced to Froggy (John Middleton), shocked to realise that he's his granddad. And soon after, Rex is released from prison. Knowing he'll be public enemy number one if spotted, he hides in the shadows upon his return to the village. Ste, meanwhile, attempts to reach out to Lucas, who brushes him off, and later he's left in shock when Rex approaches him. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Despite what Rex did to Dillon – who is still very much struggling in the wake of his exploitation ordeal – it seems Ste is willing to give him another chance, but only if Lucas is receptive, reiterating that they will need to get his son's blessing. While Ste contemplates how exactly to get Lucas on side, Rex arrives at Grace's flat, much to the horror of Clare, who is in an unforgiving mood. Grace, however, is determined to turn over a new leaf and, unwilling to lose another brother, she pleads with Clare to leave Rex unharmed. Later, Ste finds Rex outside The Dog and, with Lucas out for the evening, he invites him over for tea, with the former flames spending the night together. More Trending As is always the case in this village, it doesn't take long for word to spread about Rex. When he pays a visit to The Hutch, the whole village turns against him, understandably refusing to forgive his role in the exploitation of the teens. The question is: will Ste's reunion with Rex prove controversial? How will Lucas react? Not to mention the rest of the village? Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) is left furious with wife Eve (Heather Peace) in EastEnders next week – when she supports a huge decision from Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James). As viewers know, Avani confided in best mate Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) that she thought she could be pregnant with twisted Joel Marshall's (Max Murray) baby. In episodes that air these week, despite her reluctance, Eve attends the scan with Avani and Suki, but reasoned that they must tell her parents Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy). In upcoming scenes, Avani begins to struggle with morning sickness and it becomes apartment that it won't be long before others start to realise she's pregnant. When Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) decides to hold a hot tub party, the teen becomes increasingly paranoid about her body image and reaches for a drink, just as Suki and Eve arrive and an argument escalates. Eve chases after her to talk about the situation, and during their heart-to-heart, agrees to support Avani's decision to have an abortion. A move that will devastate Suki. She's unaware that her wife and granddaughter are heading off to a clinic, and after some wise words from Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), she comes clean to Ravi and Priya. The second episode aired tonight and within minutes, a further two celebrities ripped off their arm bands and called it quits. The stars were tasked with trekking up a hill, before taking on the challenge of hanging from a wire over a ravine. However, Love Island star Chloe Burrows struggled on the climb, having already told her co-stars that she was finding the demands of the show difficult. As she was berated by the Special Forces staff for her moaning noises, she ripped off her arm band and told them between gasps for breath: "I can't do it." The DS was furious and yelled: "Can't do what? We've walked 300 metres up a f***ing hill!" He then told Chloe she was "wasting a massive opportunity" but through her tears, she told him: "I'm done, I'm done." After handing over her arm band, she headed down the hill, chucking her water bottle before taking off her backpack and saying: "F*** off, this is the worst thing I have ever done in my whole life!" But Chloe wasn't alone for long, as within a minute she was joined by another former Love Islander. The group continued climbing the hill, and the DS drilled number 5 - Tasha Ghouri - telling her to "dig deep" as she lagged behind.
