
Manipur: Arms, ammunition recovered in security operations
Police today said as part of these efforts, one individual was arrested from the Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai area under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. A pistol, along with a magazine, one round of live .32mm ammunition, and one live round of 7.62 x 30mm AK rifle ammunition were recovered from the individual's possession.
In a separate operation, security personnel recovered a significant cache of weapons and equipment from a forested area near Maovom village under Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur district. The recovered items included various country-made firearms, including rifles, pistols, a lathode gun, and a Sten carbine. Live and empty rounds of different calibres, including 5.56mm, 7.62mm, 12 Gauge, and ammunition for pump-action weapons, were also seized.
Additionally, military gear such as a bulletproof jacket, helmet, communication equipment, and jungle boots were recovered during the search.
Another search operation, conducted in the Wangoo Naodakhong area under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district led to the seizure of a pistol, two empty magazines, and two rounds of live .32mm ammunition.
Authorities confirmed that these operations are part of a continued effort to enforce law and order and remove illegal weapons from civilian areas. Security forces are expected to maintain a strong presence and continue similar operations in the days ahead to ensure public safety across the state.

Afghanistan: Massive arms haul unearthed in Uruzgan province
The Afghan security forces have discovered a mass weapon and ammunition cache in southern Afghanistan's Uruzgan province, seizing various types of arms along with a large quantity of ammunition, a statement from the Ministry of Interior said on Sunday. The weaponry, according to the state-owned media outlet, includes 97 pieces of Kalashnikovs, seven pieces of the M16-type assault rifles, 86 stock pistols, seven rocket launchers, and many more types of arms and ammunition. Without providing more details, the official media outlet citing police added that no one has the right to keep or carry arms illegally. In similar operations, police reported the discovery of arms and ammunition, including an anti-aircraft gun, in Afghanistan's northern Samangan province. On July 17, Afghanistan's security forces discovered a large amount of weapons and military equipment, including 885 hand grenades, in the past four months in eastern Ghazni province, a local official reported. The contraband, which included 52 various types of arms, 21 AK-27 Kalashnikovs, 21 pistols, two PK machine guns, 885 hand grenades, 15 rocket launchers, 8 mortar shells, and a quantity of war equipment, such as cartridges and bullets, was seized during a series of operations, said Ezatullah Saeedi, provincial government spokesman. Police have also taken into custody 58 individuals on charges of involvement in criminal activities such as theft, armed robbery, and murder, the official said, adding police won't allow anyone to create law and order problems in the province.

Huge cache of banned cough syrups seized in Odisha, three arrested
States » East Bhubaneswar, July 27 (UNI) Police in Odisha's Bargarh district have arrested three persons for smuggling of codeine-laced Wincerex and Eskuf cough syrup, a banned substance under Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS). Acting upon specific intelligence regarding hoarding and transportation of cough syrup by suspected drug peddlers in the Bisipada area, a raid was conducted and three persons were intercepted on Saturday, police said. In the presence of an Executive Magistrate and government witness, a search was conducted, leading to the recovery of 1970 bottles of Wincerex cough syrup and Eskuf cough syrup and 1000 Nitrosun Tablets . All necessary legal formalities under the NDPS Act were duly followed. The accused persons were taken into custody yesterday and were forwarded to Court. Later they were sent to jail after the Court rejected his bail application. Further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the contraband articles and unearth the broader network involved in the illicit drug trade, said Superintendent of Police, Bargarh, Prahlad Sahai Meena.
