Uttarakhand Cabinet approves amendment in Biotechnology Council's departmental structure
The Haldwani Headquarters and Dehradun Centre posts will be kept in the integrated cadre.
Approval has been given for creating 18 new Geology and Mining Department posts to deal with incidents like land subsidence. It has been decided to issue the final notification of flood plain zoning on both banks of the Asan River (from Bhatta Fall to Asan Barrage) and to include some construction works in the permissible category.
UIIDB has been entrusted with monetising the operation of 5 inspection buildings (Ranikhet, Uttarkashi, Duggalbitta, Harshil, and Rishikesh) of the Public Works Department in PPP mode. The formation of the Uttarakhand State Allied and Healthcare Council has been approved under the National Allied and Healthcare Professions Commission Act 2021.
The cabinet has decided to operate the fund from the cess on foreign liquor/beer under the Chief Minister's Women and Child Multipurpose Assistance Fund (Corpus Fund). It will be used for assistance in schemes run for women and children, the operation of innovative schemes, and support to orphaned children, destitute people, and old women in disaster.
Earlier, the Central Government has approved the project at a cost of Rs 720.67 crore for the improvement work of Dehradun-Lal Tappar-Nepali Farm section of National Highway-7 and Nepali Farm-Motichur section (total length 36.82 km) of National Highway-34, taking an important step regarding road connectivity and traffic safety in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.
CM Dhami has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for this important approval. He said that this project will not only ensure fast and safe traffic between Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh, but will also make the Chardham Yatra route more accessible and smooth.
The main objective of this project is to comprehensively improve road safety by grade separation at the existing busy junctions and separating local traffic from the main road traffic.
Under this, additional service roads will also be constructed, reducing accidents and traffic pressure. CM Dhami said that under the leadership of PM Modi, infrastructure is developing rapidly in Uttarakhand, and this project is another strong step towards the development of the state. (ANI)

Farmer sends seed earnings to Kokate with unusual request to play rummy & help his family financially
Nashik: A 25-year-old farmer from Devgaon village in Niphad taluka on Thursday sent his seed sale earnings to agriculture minister Manikrao Kokate, with a peculiar request — to play online rummy and help support the farmer's family financially. On July 20, a video of agriculture minister Kokate went viral on social media, purportedly showing him playing rummy when the house was in session. Kokate, however, refuted the allegation. Farmer Yogesh Khule, who sent the money to Kokate, said he owned 10 acres in Devgaon village and waterlogging due to poor drainage prevented farmers in the area from sowing seeds, threatening the kharif crop. "If I am going to lose the kharif crop, the thought occurred to me to invest the money from where I'll get returns. I therefore sold off the seeds bought from the market and sent Rs 5,500, which I received, to the agriculture minister, requesting him to play a game of rummy online and help my family's living for this season," he said. Kokate's PA was reached for the minister's comment on the issue, who claimed that the minister was busy. His response was awaited till going to press. No funds from muzrai temples diverted: DGR
Mangaluru: Minister for health and family welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, expressed concern over the spread of false information accusing the govt of diverting revenue from endowment temples for other purposes. Stating that the govt utilises the revenue from muzrai temples exclusively for the development of religious shrines under the department, the minister said that a few organisations have been spreading malicious campaigns against the govt with a political agenda. Rao was speaking at a consultation meeting with the management committee members of temples under the Hindu religious institutions and charitable endowments department on Friday. The Congress govt under chief minister Siddaramaiah increased 'tasdik' (remuneration for archaks) from Rs 24,000 to Rs 36,000 per year, and later to Rs 48,000 during his previous term. "The govt has further increased the tasdik to Rs 72,000. There is a political conspiracy to portray the Congress govt as anti-Hindu," Rao alleged.
