MG's Tesla Model Y Rival To Make Debut On July 10- But There's A Catch
IM Motors is a premium electric car brand under the umbrella of MG's parent company, SAIC Motor. With the debut of the IM6, this will be the brand's first car in the UK, but with an MG badge. Diving into the details, the IM6 comes in three versions: Premium, Platinum, and Performance. The entry-level models come equipped with a 75 kWh battery and a 291 bhp electric motor located at the rear, providing a range of 450 km, accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.8 seconds, and supporting a maximum charging speed of 153 kW.
The other two versions offer a larger 100 kWh battery, enabling up to 555 km on a single charge, and transition from a 400V to an 800V electrical system, similar to those found in the XPeng or Hyundai Ioniq 5. This upgrade allows for rapid charging at 396 kW, quicker than any Porsche Taycan. This means you can recharge from 30 to 80 percent in just 15 minutes, provided you can locate a sufficiently fast charger.
Additionally, the Performance variant boasts a dual-motor system producing 767 hp, allowing it to reach 0-6100 kmph in 3.4 seconds, which is on par with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Tesla recently began its operations in India with the launch of the first showroom in Mumbai. While the brand prepares to expand its presence in the country with the inauguration of the second showroom in Delhi, the US-based brand is preparing to launch its first supercharger in the country. To use the charger, the owners of Tesla electric vehicles are required to plug in their vehicles. To check availability, the consumers can use the Tesla app. This application can also be used to monitor charging progress, receive notifications while charging, and pay for charging. The Tesla Model Y is offered in India with both RWD (rear-wheel drive) and long-range RWD options. The initial pricing for the RWD model stands at Rs 59.89 lakh, while the long-range variant is set at Rs 67.89 lakh. Consequently, the total on-road cost for the RWD version amounts to Rs 61.07 lakh, whereas the long-range version's on-road price is Rs 69.15 lakh. In India, the rear-wheel drive variant of the Tesla Model Y can be purchased with either a 60 kWh battery or a larger 75 kWh battery pack. This RWD model features a single electric motor that produces roughly 295 hp. Additionally, the 60 kWh battery is claimed to have a WLTP range of 500 km when fully charged, while the long-range version is reported to offer a range of 622 km.

Uncertainty looms over the resumption of NREGS in Bengal as the Centre is yet to clear the labour budget
With the August 1 deadline set by the Calcutta High Court for restarting Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MG-NREGS) in West Bengal already passed, the job program's resumption remains uncertain as the Centre is yet to clear the state's labour budget for financial year 2025–26, The Indian Express has learnt. According to sources, the West Bengal government had written to the Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), seeking approval to its labour budget. However, the same has not been done so far, said a source. The labour budget refers to anticipated demand for unskilled manual work for execution of a shelf of work identified to be taken up during a financial year. The labour budget is approved by the Empowered Committee headed by the Union Rural Development Secretary. The states can generate their demands for funds using NREGASoft, the Management Information System (MIS) of the MG-NREGS, only after this committee clears their labour budget proposals. Under the NREGS, the MoRD releases funds to states 'based on agreed labour budget'. Generally, the states' labour budget proposals are approved by the MoRD by the end of January before the beginning of each financial year (April-March). In Bengal's case, no labour budget has been approved post financial year 2021-22 after the Centre suspended implementation of the scheme in the state. By invoking Section 27 of the MGNREGA, 2005, the Centre had stopped release of funds to West Bengal with effect from March 9, 2022, 'due to non-compliance of directives of Central Government'. Since then, no work under the NREGS has taken place in the state. In an order on 18th June 2025, the Calcutta High Court had directed that the 'scheme be implemented prospectively with effect from 1st August 2025'. However, the West Bengal officials say that they have not received any intimation from the Centre about resumption of the scheme in the state. They have also been urging the MoRD for approval of the labour budget but the same has not happened either, said an official. The MoRD officials have kept mum so far on the issue of Bengal. When asked whether the ministry has challenged the June 18 Calcutta High Court order, the concerned officials at the MoRD did not respond. However, sources say that the Centre has not yet challenged the order. On July 22, Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had told Lok Sabha that the order of the High Court is 'being studied in the Ministry to decide further course of action'. In January this year, West Bengal's Rural Development Minister Pradip K Mazumdar wrote a letter to Chouhan, seeking an appointment for a meeting, which has not happened so far. Earlier, multiple meetings between the Centre and West Bengal government officials have taken place but the issue has not been resolved till date. Before the Centre suspended the MG-NREGS in March 2022, West Bengal figured among the top performers with 51-80 lakh families in the state availing the scheme annually between 2014-15 and 2021-22. The data available on the NREGS portal shows that the number of households working through the rural job guarantee scheme stood at 51 lakh in 2014-15, 61 lakh in 2015-16, 58 lakh in 2016-17, 52 lakh in 2017-18, 43.89 lakh in 2018-19, 54.57 lakh in 2019-20, 79.64 lakh in 2020-21, and 75.97 lakh in 2021-22. MG Cyberster EV Review: Style And Speed In The Same Breath
MG Cyberster looks a million dollars and a few, drives with intent, and promises plenty of attention. Is the electric roadster too good to be true at Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom)? Spending a day, and driving the Cyberster electric a few laps on the Buddh International Circuit, here's what we think about the most modern MG yet. MG Cyberster EV Looks: The stance radiates a ready-to-attack attitude - long nose, low stance, and massive 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels wrapped in the sporty silhouette. Cyberster appears better with the soft top down. The electronically-operational roof drops or shuts in about 10 seconds. Touch of a button, and the scissor doors swinging upwards could be a massive flex for the Cyberster owners. Save the soft-compound, Pirelli tyres for track days with the Cyberster. Sensors all around the sedan, the operation of the doors pauses, if it perceives an obstacle. MG Cybster EV Ergonomics: With a mere 117 mm ground clearance, driving the MG Cyberster EV could be challenging over uneven roads. Thanks to a massive door aperture, getting in is easy. A strict two-seater, the driver and passenger are seated low with a focused view of the road ahead. Dropping the soft top feels airy. It rained intermittently during our testing, and the view with the roof closed is restrictive and takes time getting used to. MG Cybster EV Cabin and Features: A triple instrument layout for the driver is a true cockpit view. The main 10.25-inch display packs drive-centric information. The twin 7-inch displays - bending inwards - showcase entertainment and range stats. If that wasn't enough, another 7-inch display trickles down, allowing a series of controls, ranging from air conditioning to regen modes, launch control to ambient lighting. The co-passenger would find it difficult to operate due to the design. The bucket seats are sporty and large. The steering wheel is a new, three-spoke unit, and the 'super sport' mode catches the eye. Maroon on the seats may not be to everyone's liking, yet it adds to the bling. Four airbags come as standard. MG Cyberster EV Drivetrain And Charging: At the heart of the skateboard architecture is a 77 kWh battery pack, promising a range of up to 580 kilometres on a single charge. A 7 kW AC wallbox charger takes more than 10 hours to fully charge the battery. A 150 kW DC fastcharger replenishes 10 to 80 per cent in 38 minutes. Cyberster EV is an all-wheel-drive configuration, thanks to dual motors. In combination, the output stands at 325 hp and 605 Nm. Level 2 ADAS and 360-degree camera come as standard. MG Cyberster EV Drive Experience: A gentle dab at the throttle, and the Cyberster EV lunges ahead. It is quick, if you want it to be. A 0 to 100 kmph timing is claimed at 3.2 seconds, and triple digits are easy to achieve and maintain in the Cyberster electric. The speed build up is brisk before it starts plateauing after 200 kmph. The sedan feels nicely planted at high speeds and holds its line purposefully around the corners. Thanks to the underbelly battery, the seating is marginally higher than it could be - although the difference is unnoticeable for ones who haven't experienced the likes of Porsche Boxster, Mercedes SL, and other roadsters. While the seats are largely comfortable and reassuring, it's the side bolstering that could be better. Especially when Cyberster EV darts into a corner with precision, the driver feels pushed sideways, and better seat bolstering could make a difference. The Pirelli P0 tires offer ample grip, and even in wet conditions, the control felt adequate. The brakes are sharp, and the feedback on the lever is satisfactory. MG Cyberster EV: Final Note Cyberster EV is striking. Razor-sharp looks and playful handling hides the not-so-practical aspects of the sedan. It's fast. It's fun. It seeks attention wherever it drives in. For Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Cyberster is a great example of how EVs are not boring.
