A JetBlue flight arriving from Chicago veered off the runway while landing at Boston Logan International Airport, prompting a temporary halt in flight operations. The aircraft, an Airbus A220-300 operating as Flight 312, landed shortly on runway 33L before skidding off into the adjacent safety area, New York Post reported.
All passengers on board were safely evacuated and transported to a nearby terminal. No injuries were reported and emergency services responded immediately to the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun an investigation into the incident. As a precaution, a total ground stop was implemented at the airport for two hours to allow for safety assessments and runway clearance.
The runway incident occurred on the same day as a major international aviation disaster in India, where an Air India Boeing 787 crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, resulting in the deaths of more than 200 people.

"Mami, I Love You": Last Text Of Brazilian Hiker Who Fell Into Indonesian Volcano

A Brazilian hiker who died after falling from a cliff while trekking on an active volcano in Indonesia had sent a heartbreaking text message to her mother at the start of her trip. Juliana Marins was hiking Mount Rinjani - the second-highest volcano in Indonesia - with a group on June 21 when she slipped and fell into a ravine. She was trapped for four days in the active volcano before authorities discovered her dead. Ms Marins, who was a publicist and pole dancer from Brazil, had been travelling across Asia since February, reported the New York Post. According to the report, when she first started her trip to the Philippines, the hiker messaged her mother saying she loves her and she felt "heartbroken" saying goodbye. "Mami, I love you so much. I was heartbroken when we said goodbye. In fact, that's the only thing that worries me: letting you, papi or my sister be disappointed. Other than that, I'm not afraid of much, much less trouble," Ms Marins wrote. She also told her mother that she was not afraid of difficulties as she was raised by a woman who could "solve any problem". "I was raised by a woman who can solve any problem and who is not afraid to take the plunge and go after her dreams. I am like that too. I have different desires and dreams. I love you all very much! And I will always be grateful for all the support, care and affection. That is what makes me fearless," she said. According to Indonesian officials, the 26-year-old hiker slipped and plummeted around 490 feet down the cliff face. The tragic fall took place around 6:30 in the morning. Drone footage had revealed that she was still alive despite the initial "screams for help" that were heard, reported The New York Post. However, the dense fog covering the volcano and other unfavourable circumstances prevented rescue workers from reaching her. Officials added that Ms Marins was stuck on soft land, making it challenging to try to pull her with ropes. "After four days of labour, hindered by unfavourable weather, terrain, and visibility conditions in the area, teams from Indonesia's Search and Rescue Agency discovered the body of the Brazilian tourist," the Brazilian government said. Located on the Indonesian island of Lombok, the volcano is more than 12,000 feet high and is a famous tourist destination in the Southeast Asian archipelago. Many people, including a Malaysian visitor last month, have lost their lives while hiking on the mountain.

Air India Delhi-Washington Dreamliner flight grounded in Vienna over maintenance issue

NEW DELHI: An Air India Dreamliner flight from Delhi to Washington DC was grounded in Vienna on July 2 after a maintenance issue was detected during a scheduled stopover, forcing the airline to cancel both onward and return journeys. Flight AI103, a Boeing 787-8 flight, departed from Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport at 1 am on Wednesday and had a planned fuel stop at Vienna at 6.35 am (local time). During enhanced pre-flight safety checks taking place in light of the Ahmedabad plane crash, a maintenance issue was detected resulting in cancellation of the trip from that point. An Air India statement said, 'Flight AI103 from Delhi to Washington, DC on 2 July made a planned fuel stop in Vienna. During routine aircraft checks, an extended maintenance task was identified, which required rectification before the next flight and, thus, additional time for completion. Due to this, the Vienna to Washington DC leg was cancelled, and passengers were disembarked.' Passengers eligible for visa-free entry or those with valid Schengen visas were provided hotel accommodation in Vienna until the next available flight, it said. For those without entry permission, accommodation is being arranged, pending immigration and security clearances by Austrian authorities, the statement added. 'Consequently, flight AI104 from Washington, DC, to Delhi via Vienna was also cancelled, and the affected passengers have been rebooked on alternative flights to Delhi or offered full refunds based on their preferences,' the statement said. The statement said that despite all efforts from its side, certain flights get delayed or cancelled due to extraneous factors such as the closure of certain airspaces, nighttime curfew at several airports in Europe and East Asia, air traffic congestion and unforeseen operational issues. 'We notify passengers ahead of time to reduce inconvenience in case of planned delays or cancellations, but sometimes, certain challenges lead to last-minute disruptions,' it added.

Indigo launches direct flight service to Amsterdam from Mumbai

The Gurugram-based airline, which has over 400 aircraft in its fleet, in May this year said it was looking to introduce direct flights to London, Athens, and eight other international cities in the current financial year. Amsterdam, Jul 2 (PTI) Spreading its wings to Europe, Indian carrier IndiGo on Wednesday launched its flight services to Amsterdam from Mumbai, the airline's second long-haul overseas service to be rolled out in as many days. The new Mumbai-Amsterdam service will operate thrice weekly with IndiGo's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Amsterdam's Schiphol airport is one of the world's busiest airports and a key European hub. On Wednesday, the airline operated its maiden flight to Manchester from Mumbai, which it termed as a significant move that paves the way for it to become a global airline besides offering enhanced connectivity between India and key global markets. 'Spreading our wings further in Europe, we are delighted to launch our Mumbai-Amsterdam flights, connecting India to the world. This route will not only enhance connectivity for leisure, business, and student travellers, but also deepen the thriving partnership between India and the Netherlands, culturally, economically, and diplomatically,' said Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer at IndiGo. The Mumbai-Amsterdam route not only bolsters the airline's fast-growing international network but also underlines its commitment to making long-haul travel more accessible, efficient, and affordable for Indian travelers, IndiGo said in the statement on Wednesday. With this launch, customers flying to and from Amsterdam can seamlessly connect to the entire Europe, North America and Canada; and on IndiGo's domestic network of over 90 destinations within India, it said. IndiGo has tied up with Norwegian low-cost airline Norse Atlantic Airways for damp leasing of six wide-body B 787-9 aircraft for its international operations, primarily to the UK and Europe. These leased planes are to be delivered to the airline by 2026, with the first joining the fleet from March this year. The aircraft features a two-class cabin configuration comprising 56 IndiGoStretch (business class) seats and 282 economy seats. PTI RAM MR MR This report is auto-generated from PTI news service.
