Government committed to welfare of retired RTC staff: Telangana minister Ponnam Prabhakar
On Sunday, the minister attended the fifth annual meeting of the TGSRTC Retired Officers Welfare Association in Lakdikapul as the chief guest. He, along with the RTC Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, felicitated retired RTC employees who have completed 90 years of age.
Speaking on the occasion, Ponnam Prabhakar praised the retired officers and employees for their significant service towards the improvement of the public transport system. He emphasised that the organisation is moving forward with three priorities: employee welfare, providing comfortable transport services to the public and protecting the organisation.
The minister stated that over the past year, the RTC has initiated the purchase of new buses, and recruitment processes are underway to match the acquisition of new buses.
Ponnam Prabhakar said that the implementation of the Mahalakshmi Scheme by the government has been strengthening RTC financially. He asserted that the government is taking all necessary measures to make Telangana RTC the number one organisation in the country.
Later, Sajjanar said that several innovative initiatives have been introduced in RTC based on the suggestions and advice of retired employees. Keeping in mind the health of both regular and retired RTC staff, the TGSRTC Tarnaka Hospital has been developed into a super-specialty hospital, offering all types of medical services, he added.

Resolve pending issues: RTC union leaders
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (APPDC) Employees Union submitted a representation to the chairman of the APSRTC Konakalla Narayana on Monday urging the latter to resolve the pending issues of the employees of the APSRTC. The Union leaders met the chairman at the RTC House and narrated their problems. The Employees Union state president P Damodara Rao, general secretary GV Narasaiah and others met the chairman. The Union leaders demanded that medical facilities to RTC (PTD) employees should be provided through referral hospitals, purchase and operation of electric buses should be done strictly under APSRTC management and staff, reinstatement of alternative employment under the old policy for medically unfit employees and assurance should be given for the job security of outsourced employees. The Union leaders submitted the representation in view of the APSRTC Board meeting to be held on Tuesday. They also submitted representations to Zonal Chairmen on Monday, seeking immediate attention to these matters. The union highlighted that the RTC staff were facing many critical issues after the APSRTC merger with the government. They said around 350 RTC employees die every year due to health related issues and non-availability of good treatment and medical care. The EU leaders insisted on reinstating referral hospital-based treatment to the RTC staff. They also made other demands such as Implementation of compassionate appointments which are pending since the pre-merger period, disbursement of pending SRBS/SBT dues, Regularisation of remaining contract employees, clearance of 24 months' arrears under the 11th PRC and pending DA payments, finalisation of pending employee promotions overdue for six years and issuance of a recruitment notification to fill 10,000 vacancies and procurement of 3,000 new buses. EU leaders MDA Siddique (treasurer) stated that APSRTC Chairman Konakalla Narayana assured them that efforts would be made to discuss and resolve these issues during the Board meeting to be held on Tuesday.

SHGs generate Rs 1 cr p.m. via RTC bus rentals: Seethakka
Hyderabad: Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka has announced that Women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have collectively earned Rs 1 crore through the rental of RTC buses. During a recent review meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister confirmed that 150 buses have so far been handed over to the RTC by women's groups on a rental basis. The RTC is reportedly paying Rs 70,000 per month for each bus, with the total amounting to Rs 1 crore now being received by these women's groups. As per the contractual agreement, the RTC disbursed the first month's payment to the women's groups on Thursday. The Minister also highlighted plans to strengthen Anganwadi centres, stating that cooperation from women's self-help groups and voluntary organisations would be sought to enhance nutrition among children. The meeting specifically focused upon reinforcing Anganwadi centres, advancing the nutrition mission, addressing job vacancies, processing compassionate appointments, encouraging SHG and voluntary organisation participation in Anganwadi services, and developing awareness programmes for improving child nutrition. Minister Seethakka further instructed officials to immediately relocate dilapidated Anganwadi centres to nearby government offices. She directed them to identify suitable sites for the construction of new Anganwadi buildings, working in close coordination with District Collectors. To combat malnutrition among Anganwadi children, the Minister issued instructions for the preparation of specific activities and mandated the implementation of a progress report system to monitor improvements in children's nutritional status. To eliminate childhood malnutrition, special 100-day campaign programmes are to be organised to raise parental awareness regarding the food provided to their children.

Foundation stones laid for multiple development projects including road expansion works in Husnabad
Minister for Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar has said that the Husnabad constituency is witnessing comprehensive development with a focus on education, health, road infrastructure and other key sectors under the current Congress government while he was addressing a public meeting in the Husnabad town of Siddipet district on Friday. He along with the Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy participated in a slew of development programmes held in the constituency earlier in the day. The ministers inaugurated 50-bed Matha Sishu Arogya Kendram built at an estimated cost of Rs 11.50 crore, laid the foundation stone for a 150-bed government hospital building at a cost of Rs 82 crore and four-laning of the Kothapalli-Husnabad main road with an outlay of Rs 77.20 crore in separate programmes held in the town. Mr. Prabhakar said that classes in the newly sanctioned Satavahana University Engineering College in Husnabad will commence from this year. The Gouravelli project works are progressing at a brisk pace, he added, taking a dig at the previous BRS government for allegedly neglecting the Husnabad constituency in its 10-year rule. Mr. Venkat said the road infrastructure in the constituency is poised for major upgradation, 'The four-laning works of Sundaragiri-Kothapalli will be taken up with an outlay of Rs 80 crore soon.' Mr. Raja Narasimha said that they have laid a special focus on strengthening medical and nursing education as well as improving the infrastructure in government hospitals and public health delivery systems. As many as 16 nursing colleges have been set up with an intake of 950 seats under the current Congress government, he said, adding that the bed strength in the Husnabad government hospital is poised to increase to 250.
