Shin Yamada 'officially' secures Celtic transfer as Carlos Forbs claim emerges after he says yes to £7.4million deal
Incoming Shin Yamada has officially had his Celtic transfer rubber-stamped by Kawasaki Frontale and he will bid farewell to fans today before travelling to Glasgow.
The Japan B international has been with his country but has now returned to his club side to bid his goodbyes before travelling to Glasgow for his unveiling after the clubs agreed a £1.2m fee.
Yamada will join compatriots Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Hayata Inamura in Glasgow's east end and he expected to receive a hero''s goodbye from the Frontale fans.
The 23-year-old's move was revealed in the time-honoured tradition of announcing an agreement had been reached with a 'foreign club'.
And that team is Celtic as Yamada gets the same treatment as Maeda, Hatate and Kyogo when their move to Glasgow was announced by their clubs.
Ajax winger Carlos Forbs is on the brink of securing a £7.2million transfer to Brugge and it's been reported a Scottish club enquired before he committed to a switch to Belgium.
Forbs – who previously went by the surname Borges while at Manchester City – was strongly linked with Celtic during Brendan Rodgers' first summer back in 2023.
But now the Portugal U21 star – a team-mate of Paulo Bernardo at international level – is aiming to make the most out of his switch to Brugge.

Brown expects 'quality' from teenage Celtic duo
Scott Brown is expecting 19-year-old Celtic midfielders Jude Bonnar and Kyle Ure "to add quality" to his Ayr United side on loan this made his third appearance as the former Celtic midfielder's side lost 2-1 in their final Premier Sports Cup group game away to St Mirren on Brown credited the half-time substitute with helping turn the game in the Championship side's favour after going into the break two goals down to their top-flight hosts."The change of shape and personnel helped and I thought Jude coming into the middle of the park was exceptional and that helped us keep the ball - also a bit of urgency and aggresseness as well," he told BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound."Coming from Celtic to come in and play for us like that, it looks like he's been part of this team for some time."Bonnar scored in his debut as a substitute in Ayr's opening 4-0 win over Arbroath and started their 3-0 defeat of Forfar Athletic, while Ure played the closing minutes in Paisley."Obviously, if you are good enough, you get game time and Jude so far has shown he's not out of his depth and he can probably push on again," Brown added. "Kyle we've not seen too much of just yet, but he was only just in training the other day and gets his minutes on the park today. "The two of them are fantastic footballers and it's another two lefties in the team and they have a good understanding of the game and they want to better themselves. "Hopefully they can get game time and, at the same time, add quality on the pitch."

Scottish mountain biker first woman to complete tough downhill race
Scottish mountain biker Louise Ferguson has made history by becoming the only woman to complete the final course of the Red Bull Hardline in Wales. The 29-year-old from Fort William, who is based in New Zealand, became the first female rider to qualify in the history of the event, which is held in the Dyfi Valley, on Saturday. In the event's 11 years, a female rider has never completed the course – hailed as one of the toughest downhill mountain bike races in the world – in full. The run is well known due to the scale of its jumps and the challenging terrain. On Sunday, Louise made history by battling slippery conditions to complete the run, becoming the first ever rider to win the women's category in the event's history. She beat some of the world's best female riders including Vaea Verbeeck, Kirsten Van Horne, Cami Nogueira and Hannah Bergemann. Ferguson, currently ranked 14th in the world, recently won the British National Championships the week before attending Red Bull Hardline UK for the second time. She said to get through the finish line was the 'craziest feeling'. 'It doesn't feel real, to be honest'. 'I'm just taking it all in, and I'm super proud and happy with the effort. I can't explain how nervous I was at the top, so to get through to the finish line was just the craziest feeling. It was super greasy at the top – some of the guys are making it look easy, but it's not.' 'It's hard to explain how much it means to achieve this. The other girls have definitely got this and I would've loved to have come down with them. 'I know it's just a matter of time and it's going to be something I can do with them in the future. To see them at the finish means so much. The support is unreal and our community is something else. I'm just so happy.' Only Celtic switch up for Rangers Champions League congestion can soothe Premier Sports Cup fixture headache
Both of the big two being handed home ties against Falkirk and Alloa severely limits the options of then ties can be played Both Celtic and Rangers being handed home draws has given the SPFL a fixture headache. Both entered the League Cup at the second round stage along with the other European qualifiers from the Premiership. But it's the big two's Champions League qualifiers that could throw a spanner in the domestic works in terms of both playing in Glasgow on the same weekend. Holders Celtic are at home to top flight new boys Falkirk while Russell Martin's side host Alloa Athletic at Ibrox on the weekend of August 16/17. Gers take a 2-0 Champions League second round qualifying first leg lead to Athens this week, looking to finish the job against Panathinaikos. Do so, and they will face either Servette or Viktoria Plzen in the third qualifying round. It's not unthinkable that they will book a spot in the playoff round alongside their city rivals, leaving both 180 minutes away from the lucrative league phase. The first legs of those ties will be played on Tuesday August 19 and Wednesday 20, with the Premier Sports Cup fixtures being played the weekend prior. That's still a while away, but it won't be known if Rangers make it before the TV picks for the domestic cup clashes are made. That rules out the Sunday with at least one of them set to play on the Tuesday, and assuming Police Scotland don't go for staggered kick-offs on Saturday August 16, then the most obvious solution at this stage looks like Celtic hosting the Bairns on Friday 15. There is a precedent for both to kick-off on their own respective patches at the same time, however. July 2022 saw the Light Blues host Tottenham Hotspur in the friendly while Norwich City were across town at Celtic Park. Both games kicked off at 3pm on the same day in the same city - which was the first time that had happened since January 1999. Just under 38,000 watched Rangers beat Stenhousemuir 2-0 in the Scottish Cup while over 42,000 were at Parkhead to see the Hoops see off Airdrie 3-1.
