2. Coaching carousel
After eight seasons as the football coach at Lynn Classical,
Brian Vaughan
will be moving over to Arlington Catholic. Vaughan went 43-38 at Lynn Classical, where he coached his son,
Brian Vaughan Jr.
, now a freshman quarterback at Western Connecticut State. The elder Vaughan was a standout running back at Lynn English and graduated as the all-time leading rusher at Northeastern. He has served as an assistant at Lynn English, Winthrop, and Everett and was head coach at South Boston, Boston English and Pope John in Everett. He takes over an Arlington Catholic program that went 1-10 each of the last two seasons and, other than a 2-2 finish in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, hasn't had a winning record since 2014. Vaughan takes over for Brian Wilcox, who coached the Cougars for five seasons.
3. Fabulous Pham
For the fifth time in the award's 40-year history, the Gatorade Massachusetts Girls' Basketball Player of the Year went to a player from Noble & Greenough School.

USA TODAY reveals 2025 stadium rankings. Where is Jordan-Hare Stadium?
How does Jordan-Hare Stadium stack up with the rest of the country's best venues? College football fans across the nation would include Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium among the top venues in the nation, based on fans hostility and the wild games that take place there. Blake Toppmeyer of USA TODAY Sports ranked Jordan-Hare Stadium as the No. 8 venue in the SEC earlier this summer, trailing several SEC cathedrals such as the Swamp in Gainesville and Death Valley at LSU. Where does the home of the Auburn Tigers rank on a national scale? Toppmeyer and Paul Myerberg collaborated to rank the top venues in the country, regardless of conference affiliation. Much like the national polls throughout the year, being middle-tier in the SEC still means a high ranking elsewhere. Jordan-Hare Stadium ranks No. 13 in USA TODAY's rankings, topping stadiums such as Husky Stadium in Seattle, Camp Randall Stadium at Wisconsin, and Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech. Toppmeyer credits Auburn fans for creating an environment that usually forces opponents to make questionable decisions, which makes for crazy finishes. Some say Jordan-Hare uncorks a strange voodoo magic on opponents. (See the "Prayer in Jordan-Hare" and the 2012 Iron Bowl, held just two weeks apart, for one example.) It may also just be that Auburn fans create a tough environment that lends itself to late-game meltdowns or heroics. Find someone who loves you the way Auburn fans love to 'Swag Surf.' LSU's Tiger Stadium takes the top spot in this year's preseason ranking, with Penn State's Beaver Stadium, Ohio State's Ohio Stadium, Oregon's Autzen Stadium, and Clemson's Memorial Stadium rounding out the top five. This season, Auburn will visit Kyle Field at Texas A&M and Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium at Oklahoma, which rank No. 10 and No. 11 in USA TODAY's ranking. 15 Auburn Tigers named to Shrine Bowl 1000 watchlist
While the 2025 college football season is yet to begin, players are being named to watchlists for some of the college all-star games. On Monday, the Shrine Bowl 1000 watchlist was released for the 2026 edition that will be played on Jan. 27 in Frisco, Texas. Auburn was well represented on the list, featuring 15 players. A lot of hope and expectations are being placed on Jackson Arnold this season as a transfer from Oklahoma. The people at the Shrine Bowl like the potential of Arnold as he was named to the watchlist. Joining him on the offensive side of the ball is another transfer with Eric Singleton who arrives at Auburn from Georgia Tech. Singleton has been featured high on many mock drafts this off-season. Something that should excite Auburn fans is the number of offensive linemen named to the watchlist. Five players from the offensive front made the list. Center Connor Lew made the list to no surprise. Also, tackles Xavier Chaplin and Izavion Miller plus guards Mason Murphy and Dillon Wade. The offensive line has been a group of concern over the years, but this group could change that narrative. The defensive side of the ball has eight players listed in the Shrine Bowl 1000 watchlist. Three EDGE rushers were mentioned led by possibly Auburn's top prospect Keldric Faulk. Big things are expected for Faulk this season. Keyron Crawford and Sam Houston State transfer Chris Murray join Faulk. The Auburn secondary is represented by Kayin Lee, Rayshawn Pleasant, and Raion Strader. The lone Tigers linebacker was Maryland transfer Caleb Wheatland. Former Auburn QB Bo Nix is learning from legendary signal callers ahead of the 2025 season
Bo Nix met with the Denver Broncos media recently to talk about his meeting with Drew Brees. Former Auburn and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is looking to take his game to another level. Nix had a big rookie season for the Denver Broncos, throwing 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 66%. He helped lead the Broncos to their first playoff appearance since the 2015 season when they won the Super Bowl against another former Auburn quarterback, Cam Newton, and the Carolina Panthers. Nix did that under head coach Sean Payton who knows something about coaching great quarterbacks. That is a category Nix wants to get to. At his previous stop with the New Orleans Saints, Payton got to coach Drew Brees. Nix had the opportunity to meet with Bress over the off-season. Nix talked about how it was fun talking to Brees over the off-season. He also mentioned talking to both Peyton and Eli Manning and picking their brains on what they went through as a player. He was quoted by Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports saying, 'I want to be the best in the world." Nix is talking to legends who, at one point in their careers, were considered the best. Especially talking about Peyton (Manning) and Brees. Adding Eli (Manning) to the list makes five championships among the three. Brees played 15 seasons for the New Orleans Saints, and all were under Payton as his head coach. During that time Brees threw for 68,010 yards and 491 touchdowns. The Saints posted a record of 142-86 record, and they were the champions for the 2009 season. It is unknown if Nix will have a career like Brees, but he is off to a good start after year one.
