Kerala: 1st AI-Integrated Smart Ambulance launched
This innovative ambulance is equipped with key features such as 5G connectivity, real-time GPS tracking, driver visibility technologies, and ECMO/ECPR equipment.
With this system, patients and their families can track the vehicle's live location. Moreover, emergency physicians can monitor critical health parameters of patients in real time and provide accurate treatment directives, making the system highly beneficial in emergency situations.
Through powerful 5G network connectivity, high-bandwidth video from the ambulance and crucial patient information are transmitted in real time to the Department of Emergency Medicine at KIMSHEALTH, its Chairman Dr. M.I. Sahadulla, said while launching the new service on Tuesday.
Dr. Sahadulla stated that this new initiative would set a benchmark in emergency medical care, ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient treatment.
'If care is administered effectively during the golden hour, the chances of saving patients and bringing them back to life are significantly higher,' he said.
He added that such a system can enhance care even before the patient reaches the hospital.
The Department of Emergency Medicine will feature a dashboard displaying real-time GPS data, speed, and the ambulance's current position.
Critical health indicators such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, non-invasive blood pressure, and end-tidal CO₂ will be shown on a centralized monitor within the department.
The upgraded ambulance also includes a portable ECMO system and battery-operated mechanical chest compression devices, which can be used when required. The mechanical chest compression system delivers continuous compressions automatically, enhancing the efficiency of resuscitation efforts.

Kerala Health Dept denies H1N1 cases in Kollam
South Kollam (Kerala), July 20 (UNI) The Kerala Health Department has termed as baseless the reports circulating about confirmed H1N1 cases in this district of the State. In the wake of confirmed cases of Influenza A in schools within the district, the District Surveillance Officer and team visited the affected institutions and issued necessary guidelines. Seven school children in the district have tested positive for the illness. "Influenza is a respiratory illness caused by a virus and presents symptoms such as fever, cough, and sore throat. Children showing these symptoms should avoid attending school and coming into contact with others," they said. If fever cases are observed in schools, the authorities must inform health workers and maintain a fever register. Mask usage in schools should be encouraged. 674 people on the Nipah contact list in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, July 18 (UNI) A total of 674 people are currently on the Nipah virus contact list across various districts in Kerala. Out of these, 131 are from Malappuram, 426 from Palakkad, 115 from Kozhikode, and one each from Ernakulam and Thrissur districts, Health Minister Veena George said. She said "84 people removed from the contact list after completing isolation. In Malappuram, 12 individuals are undergoing treatment in isolation." So far, 88 samples from the district have tested negative. After completing their isolation period, 81 people from Malappuram, two from Palakkad, and one from Ernakulam have been removed from the contact list. Currently, 17 people in Palakkad are under isolation treatment. Across the state, 32 individuals are under highest-risk surveillance, while 111 are in the high-risk category. The minister also directed the One Health Centre for Nipah Research to document all matters related to Nipah cases. An ICMR team visited Malappuram for inspection yesterday. A high-level meeting was convened under the leadership of Minister Veena George on Thursday. Officials including the NHM State Mission Director, Director of the Health Department, Director of Medical Education, Additional Directors, District Collectors, District Medical Officers, police officials, and officers from various departments participated in the meeting.
