Behind the Curtain: Production and Development Insights
Hints of a third season had gained momentum since March 2025, when reports emerged that Season 3 had received internal codenames—
NIGHTSHADE
and
RAVEN
. These titles tie directly into the show's lore, referencing Nevermore Academy's secret society and its symbolic dance event, respectively.
Lead actress Jenna Ortega, who has garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of the gothic heroine, had previously indicated that work on the third installment had quietly commenced. However, she emphasized that an official confirmation had not been issued—until now.
Live Events
Narrative Continuity and Story Arcs
Though full plot details remain under wraps, leaks and unconfirmed reports suggest a seamless narrative transition from Season 2 into Season 3. The developing storyline is said to feature redemption arcs, more intense external threats, and evolving interpersonal relationships among the student body at Nevermore Academy.
The creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, expressed their commitment to building upon the show's thematic foundations. 'Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of
Wednesday
we possibly can,' they told
TUDUM
. 'We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.'
Netflix Executives React
Bela Bajaria, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, praised the series' cultural influence and mass appeal. 'The undeniable impact of
Wednesday
resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts as our most popular English-language TV show,' she said in a statement.
'We are thrilled to renew the iconic series for a third [season] and to deliver more of what the fans love,' Bajaria added, lauding the creative team including Tim Burton, Gough, Millar, Ortega, and the wider cast and crew.
Potential Spinoff in the Works
In a surprising addition to the renewal news,
The Hollywood Reporter
also disclosed that a
Wednesday
spinoff series is in early stages of discussion. While unnamed, prior reports from
Bloomberg
had suggested an
Uncle Fester
-centric spinoff was being considered by the streamer.
Showrunner Alfred Gough commented on the possibility, saying, 'It's something we're definitely noodling. There are other characters we can look at.' However, he stopped short of confirming whether the proposed series would be tied directly to
Wednesday
's third season.
Long-Term Vision for the Series
The series' creative heads remain cautious about projecting a long-term episode count. Director Tim Burton downplayed questions regarding series longevity, saying, 'I don't think that way. You're talking to two of the worst people to ask that question.'
Despite the ambiguity, Gough and Millar hinted at a broader vision: 'We hope to keep
Wednesday
enrolled through the character's Nevermore tenure, which lasts seven years (or seasons).'
Season 3 Release Date Speculation
Although no official
Wednesday Season 3 release date
has been announced, timelines based on ongoing production activity suggest a likely premiere in late 2026, according to the report by What's On Netflix. This would hinge on swift movement post-Season 2 and the absence of major delays.
With Season 2 already split into two parts and set for release during August and September 2025, audiences can expect an interlinked continuation that sets the stage for the events of the third installment.
Fan and Industry Response
Fans responded to the news across social media with excitement, memes, and anticipatory countdowns. The series has garnered a dedicated following due in large part to Ortega's nuanced performance, as well as the show's mix of macabre humor, teen drama, and supernatural intrigue.
As showrunner Miles Millar aptly summarized, 'It's been a dark delight to watch
Wednesday
cast her spell over audiences across the globe—one deadpan quip at a time.'
He continued, 'We're beyond thrilled she'll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3. This time, she'll unearth more of the school's sinister secrets—and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt. Or, as Wednesday would say: 'Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.''

Bhumi Pednekar On Debate Around Botox, Fillers: 'We Live In A Time…'

Last Updated: Bhumi Pednekar also reveals what fitness means to her and reveals details about her diet. Read on. The debate about actors opting for botox and fillers has been going on for a long time now. When Bhumi Pednekar starred in the web series The Royals earlier this year, she was also trolled and questioned for her alleged surgeries. Therefore, when News18 Showsha met Bhumi at a recent event in New Delhi, we asked what she thinks about it. Bhumi argued that too much attention is being given to this subject and added that if one wants to opt for fillers, why not? 'I feel, to each their own. We live in a time where people should make their own choices. I am nobody to have any kind of judgment on what people want to do. I also feel that this is being discussed way too much," she told us. The 36-year-old actress explained her definition of fitness and added, 'It is my way of being." Bhumi was in New Delhi for a Skechers' event. Talking about the same, the actress shared, 'People in Delhi have come together and run one thousand kilometres collectively. Sketchers, in return, is going to give 100 pairs of shoes to The Kutumb Foundation. It is so lovely." However, when asked what food items Bhumi keeps in her diet to be fit and healthy, the actress stated, 'People get very scared of but I have it in my diet – fat. I have a lot of ghee in my diet. The only difference is, I do not cook in ghee; I consume it raw. Put it on your rotis or idlis, it is very beneficial for your health." Meanwhile, on the work front, Bhumi Pednekar was last seen in Netflix's The Royals, a romantic dramedy about the unlikely love story between Aviraaj Singh (played by Ishaan Khatter), a modern-day prince, and Sophia Kanmani Shekhar (Bhumi), a fierce startup founder. The ensemble cast included Zeenat Aman, Dino Morea, Nora Fatehi, Sakshi Tanwar, and others. The series continues to stream on Netflix and has received praise for its fresh take on romance. Next, Bhumi will be seen in Daldal, a gritty web series for Prime Video in which she plays a police officer. The show has wrapped filming, and fans are eagerly awaiting an official release date. Netflix's 'Aap Jaisa Koi' actress Fatima Sana Shaikh teams up with 'Saiyaara' star Aneet Padda for their next project: "There are huge plans to make..."

A source told Bollywood Hungama, 'Aneet is a big screen heroine for YRF. Nyaya was shot before she signed Saiyaara and it has no bearing on her career trajectory as a theatrical heroine going forward. A girl who is delivering probably a Rs. 400 crores hit in theatres, is a true Gen Z star at the age of just 22, will be preserved for theatricals. There are huge plans to make her the face of a generation and that can be achieved only by consolidating her theatrical equity.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD About Fatima Sana Shaikh In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Firstpost, when Fatima Sana Shaikh too spoke on gender pay gap and for things to change, audiences need to accept women led films. She said, 'Finally, there are women who are asking for what they deserve, and that is commendable because to voice it and to even receive that was like a dream. And, you know, these are the women like Deepika Padukone who are paving paths for us so that tomorrow when we are in that position, we won't obviously think twice to get our due.' On working with Anurag Basu I didn't get to interact with other characters a lot. I largely interacted with Sara Khan and Ali Fazal that you've seen in the trailer also. So, I didn't unfortunately get to share the screen with all of these other actors that I'm a huge fan of. The best thing about Anurag (dada) is that you are not bound by the script and you know what you're getting into. So, you learn a lot when you go to the set. Even if there is a climax scene, even if there is a hectic scene, you come to know about it in the morning. And you just go with the flow. Whatever comes on your way, you just figure it out. You try to be as honest as possible. And that's what we all did, and there is, you know, significant fun in that too.
