Teenage footballer dies during surgery as club tell of 'deep sadness'
Nuin was reported to have been operated on to address meniscal and cruciate ligament injuries in an effort to restore stability to his joint. However, the teenager's death was confirmed on Wednesday evening by his club, San Telmo, following the procedure at Clinica Espora in Adrogue, Buenos Aires.
The cause of the reserve player's death has not yet been announced, with suggestions that an autopsy will be conducted once his body is transferred to the La Plata morgue. Many of Nuin's teammates in the reserve division only discovered the tragic news shortly before San Telmo's match against Defensores de Belgrano.
Having joined the club in 2022, Nuin had previously spent time in the academy systems of Boca Juniors and Independiente. San Telmo are now observing a period of mourning and have extended their support to Nuin's loved ones, reports the Mirror.
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Camilo Ernesto Nuin, a player in our youth and reserve divisions, who was undergoing surgery today," San Telmo stated. "The club will remain closed today as a sign of mourning.
"We join his family, friends, and team-mates in this difficult time and remain at their disposal for anything they may need."
The Argentine Football Association shared their sorrow in an official release, stating: "The Argentine Football Association, through its president Claudio Tapia and executive committee, expresses its sorrow at the death of Camilo Nuin and extends its condolences to the player's family."
AFA chief Claudio Tapia wrote on social media: "A very sad piece of news that shakes the entire football world."
Devastated, Nuin's father recounted to Telenoche the harrowing moments of learning about his son's passing. "He went into the operating room, and after an hour or so, they told me things were complicated, and they were resuscitating him," he revealed.
"I didn't understand, because how could things get complicated? Are you resuscitating a person who's having knee surgery? And then someone else comes out and tells me, 'He's dead'."
"I was in a daze . There are things I don't remember. I saw his mother on the floor. I grabbed the doctor and asked him what happened, why. I don't even remember the answers. Then I asked if I could see him. I saw him, I was with him, I hugged him, I kissed him , I promised him things he would have asked me to promise him, regarding his sister and his grandparents."

Katie Boulter OUT of Wimbledon as she's stunned by world No101 who originally FAILED to qualify for tournament
KATIE BOULTER crashed out to lucky loser Solana Sierra - and could not even blame misfortune on it. The British No2 had a shocker for the majority of her 1hr53mins out on a half-empty Court No1, save for an impressive first-set fightback. 3 Katie Boulter was out of sorts against her lucky loser opponent Credit: Getty 3 Solana Sierra produced a brilliant performance on No1 Court Credit: PA That revival had seen And from then the supporters who had turned up were half-expecting a comfortable victory for the Leicester-born London resident. But it did not turn out that way as an inspired Sierra capitalised on Boulter's catalogue of errors to come through 6-7 6-2 6-1. The Argentine, 21, had lost in qualifying and was only in the SW19 main draw after being selected to replace an injured player. READ MORE WIMBLEDON She certainly made the most of it and was much the better, more consistent, of the two players, setting up a third-round tie with Spaniard Cristina Bucsa. As for Boulter, she will look back ruefully on a complacent display which saw her lay down 14 double faults and 36 unforced errors. It was chalk and cheese compared to her But the world No43 was nowhere near at that level against a much-lower ranked opponent in this second round, and paid for it dearly. Most read in Tennis BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Sierra revealed after her victory that she has had to move the house in which she is staying during the championships several times already because she did not expect to be here this long. And now she and her mother, who is staying with her, will have to switch residences again given she is into round three. Inside Wimbledon star's home for tournament with gym and wine cellar as she reveals bizarre way she unwinds The Argentine explained: 'I lost in the third round of qualies so we already changed three times the apartment and now we are going to change again! 'But we said it's a good problem. 'It feels amazing. I knew it was a really tough match, Katie is an amazing player, so I just tried to focus on myself and enjoy this moment. Advertisement By Alcaraz* 6-1 6-4 4-3 Tarvet - Alcaraz breaks Alcaraz crunches an absolute monster forehand that flies past the Brit. Tarvet finds the net for 0-40 and another huge return is too hot to handle. Three breaks in a row and Alcaraz is two games away. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 6-4 3-3 Tarvet* - Tarvet breaks back A double fault to start the game. And at 15-30, Alcaraz skews a backhand volley wide. Two break points... The first goes begging. But Tarvet takes the second when Alcaraz booms a forehand long. Centre Court erupts. Copy link Copied By More on Katie Boulter first set What a storming comeback from Katie Boulter - that has lifted the energy on Court No1! The Brit was 5-2 down to Argentine Solana Sierra and slumping to a first-set loss. But Boulter, 28, battles back to take it to a tie-break, where she finally converts a fourth set point. Cue a big celebration from the Leicester star and a few spectators pitching up for the second set - though the number of empty seats is still stark. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz* 6-1 6-4 3-2 Tarvet - Alcaraz breaks Oh, that is brilliant. Both players scrambling around the court but it is Tarvet who nudges one into the empty space. There is more fun and games on the next point as Tarvet produces a hot dog - only for Alcaraz to knock away a simple volley. It goes to deuce but Alcaraz steps it up and secures the break. That could be crucial. It feels a long way back now for the world No733. Copy link Copied By Boulter* 7-6 Sierra She's not playing her sparkling best, but Katie Boulter is in charge of her Wimbledon second round clash with Solana Sierra. The British No2 has leaked double faults and errors, but managed to win that first set from 5-3 down through pure grit. With the crowd slowly filling back up, Boulter should be able to raise her level. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 6-4 2-2 Tarvet* A very routine hold from the Spaniard. Easy does it. 2-2. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz* 6-1 6-4 1-2 Tarvet And so we go on. Just some faint signs of irritation from Alcaraz as Tarvet holds. The dynamism is not quite there from the Brit but he is hanging on in there and making his opponent work. The No 2 seed is much more solid now but will have to raise it a notch to make Tarvet go away. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 6-4 1-1*Tarvet Another pretty routine service game for Alcaraz. He is no longer feeling the jeopardy that was there for much of the first two sets. The Brit serves to keep things interesting as afternoon turns to evening on a sunlit Centre Court. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz* 6-1 6-4 0-1 Tarvet Gutsy stuff from Tarvet. It would have been easy to fold at two break points down but he doesn't. He will not lie down for Alcaraz and just keeps fighting, keeps getting the ball back and keeps trying to make things happen. Vamos, Ollie, was the cry from one fan in that game, and he is doing his very best. Copy link Copied By Harris 3-6 4-6 6-7 Borges Billy Harris is out - losing to Nuno Borges 6-3 6-4 7-6. The Brit - ranked 151 in the world - did have two set points in the third-set tie-break but could not convert. Portugal's Borges laps up the warm applause of the Court Two crowd. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 6-4 0-0 *Tarvet Tarvet is back from a bathroom break to see if he can take this match much further into the evening. He deserves to, for all the effort and entertainment he has provided. But Alcaraz was looking in the mood to get home for a not-too-typically-late Spanish tea. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 6-4 *Tarvet There is new sense of purpose and authority in Alcaraz. His own inconsistency and Tarvet's blend of guts, speed and skill made this a really entertaining set. But the champion is not here to have fun, he is here to get a job done. And he is finally looking in control of this match. Copy link Copied By Boulter 3-5 Sierra Katie Boulter makes an underwhelming start against lucky loser Solana Sierra out here at a half-empty No1 Court. The Brit - watched on by fiance Alex De Minaur - breaks in the first game of the match but then is broken straight back after laying two double faults. Another double-fault at 3-2 sees her broken again, putting her Argentine opponent in charge. Rising star Sierra is only in the main draw because she was randomly selected to fill in for an injured player, having lost in qualifying. But she is more than holding her own against her Leicester-born opponent, who is doing little to get the fans who are watching on from the stands off their seats. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz* 6-1 5-4 Tarvet And that's what champions do. Alcaraz knew the significance of that game and turned the screw. Before Tarvet knew it, he was 0/40 down, suddenly unable to keep up with the No 2 seed. So the Spaniard, with his forehand really starting to take its toll, will serve for the second set Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 4-4 *Tarvet Now the pressure is on the Brit. Does he believe he can take a set off the reigning champion? Some loose play makes life a bit too easy for Alcararz and the Spaniard is serving better now. But if Tarvet can hold, he will have the chance to attack his opponent's serve. Copy link Copied By Boulter 2-4 Sierra* Katie Boulter coughs up her serve again with yet another double fault. The Brit has already produced four doubles, helping Sierra relieve any nerves from playing on such a big court. Boulter may also be struggling with the atmosphere on No1 Court, which is a little flat with plenty of fans having gone out for a break after Cameron Norrie's win. The 28-year-old has struck just ONE winner so far, with seven unforced errors. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz* 6-1 3-4 Tarvet What an excellent game from Ollie Tarvet. England boss Thomas Tuchel was among those clapping wildly when the Brit lashed a cross-court forehand winner. He is playing so intelligently and yet again he retrieves an Alcaraz dropshot to keep his nose in front. Copy link Copied By Cameron Norrie reaction British star Cam Norrie defied the world rankings to defeat Frances Tiafoe 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-5 earlier today. Speaking after the match, Norrie gushed: "I was really happy when I saw I was on Court 1, it's my favourite. "An amazing atmosphere, we both played at a really high level but I stayed calm and served very well. "I was really happy with my level, didn't drop too much. "My parents and sister are here, my girlfriend as well. "They're living here now so it's not such a tough flight for them." Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 3-3 *Tarvet At last, the first chorus of Ollie, Ollie, Ollie, Oi, Oi, Oi. But it's not enough to inspire the Brit to another break as Alcaraz digs in. Tarvet keeps going toe to toe in the rallies but isn't winning quite enough of them. Copy link Copied By Boulter* 1-2 Sierra Katie Boulter is on serve early on in her round two clash with Solana Sierra. The British No2 came out in red-hot form, quickly breaking the lucky loser. But following two double faults, the 28-year-old handed the break straight back for 1-1. Sierra then held at the second attempt and leads 2-1 early on in this one. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz* 6-1 2-3 Tarvet Better again from Tarvet. He manages to send down three serves that Alcaraz cannot put back in court, reducing the need to out-rally him. Some great defence earns the Brit the game and he is very much in this second set. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 2-2 *Tarvet Alcaraz finally has an easy service game, holding to love. The champion has at last realised he is in a serious match and has raised his level. Enough Pimms has been drunk for fans to be having fun now, as they boo a woman who won't attempt to throw the ball back. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz* 6-1 1-2 Tarvet That break has stunned Alcaraz into action. He wins a great rally then takes it to 0/30 with a fine volley. Tarvet goes wide and suddenly there are three break points. Alcaraz needs only one, smashing a forehand winner. Copy link Copied By Alcaraz 6-1 0-2 *Tarvet And there it is at last. Game on in the second set. The first chant of let's go, Ollie, let's go is heard as he brings up another break point. And the loudest applause so far greets as Alcaraz goes wide, thanks to great aggression from the Brit, Copy link Copied By Katie Boulter on court British No2 Katie Boulter is warming up on No1 Court ahead of her second round match.
