Oman, Russia eye stronger cooperation
Moscow, Russia – An official reception ceremony was held at Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Tuesday for His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on the occasion of his state visit to the Russian Federation.
President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation led the welcoming party for His Majesty the Sultan, wishing him and the official accompanying delegation a successful visit and a pleasant stay.
Then, the Royal Anthem of Oman and the National Anthem of the Russian Federation were played, followed by His Majesty the Sultan shaking hands with senior officials from the Russian side and President Putin shaking hands with members of the official accompanying Omani delegation.
His Majesty the Sultan and the Russian President held a cordial meeting and an official session of talks at Kremlin Palace.
The session discussed the march of the advanced relations between Oman and Russia, as well as their fruitful cooperation and ways of promoting relations in various spheres to serve joint interests. The two leaders also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and global developments.
Putin hosts working lunch in H M's honour
President Putin hosted a working lunch in honour of His Majesty the Sultan at Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Tuesday.
The banquet was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and several Russian officials.

Zelensky backtracks after protests, moves to restore anti-graft agency independence
Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday announced a new bill aimed at restoring the independence of the country's anti-corruption agencies, following widespread protests at home and mounting criticism from Western allies, RT reported. "The text of the bill was discussed with partners, law enforcement agencies, and representatives of the NABU and SAPO. The policy reversal follows a surge of public protests across Ukraine against what many saw as a clampdown on anti-graft bodies. Demonstrations erupted in cities including Kyiv, Odessa, Dnipro, and Lviv, according to RT. Critics have accused Zelensky of exhibiting authoritarian tendencies and attempting to tighten his grip on power. They argued the earlier law rendered the anti-graft bodies "purely decorative." RT reported that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned the move and urged Zelensky to "respect the rule of law," warning that the measure could derail Ukraine's European Union membership aspirations. NABU and SAPO were created following the 2014 US-backed coup in Kyiv and were intended to align Ukraine with Western governance norms and international financial standards. Vacancy for Oman's Assistant Public Prosecutor announced
Muscat – The Supreme Judicial Council has announced a vacancy for the position of Assistant Public Prosecutor in coordination with Ministry of Labour. The position is open to Omani nationals holding a bachelor's degree in law or sharia law from recognised universities or higher education institutes. According to the council, applicants must meet several eligibility requirements, including good conduct, no previous convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude or dishonesty, nor dismissal from government service. Additionally, applicants should not currently be employed in a government or military unit, nor in a company wholly or partially owned by the government, unless officially resigned for at least one full year. Applicants must not be older than 30 years at the time of applying. The selection process includes aptitude tests, personal interviews and a mandatory medical examination. Required documents when applying include a copy of the national ID card, copies of academic certificates and transcripts, along with proof of equivalency for certificates obtained from outside Oman, copies of training certificates and relevant experience, and a recent personal photo. The council emphasised that any application not meeting the stated requirements, or submitted through channels other than the official electronic link, will not be considered. Applications will be accepted online till July 29, 2025 via The Supreme Judicial Council stressed that it will not accept applications outside the announced timeframe or submitted without the required documents.
