Hull FC ratings as Aidan Sezer moments fail to mask under-par team display
Hull FC were defeated 24-10 at Warrington Wolves on Saturday evening. Here are the ratings.
Jordan Rapana - The Kiwi does some good things, and his involvements are plentiful, but there are still too many errors in his game playing at full-back. He'll know that, but it's also a team game, and Hull need to be better collectively. 4

Harvey Barron - Scored a try for the third game in a row. A couple of tough errors when under pressure, but he also stood up defensively at times with one or two big plays. 4

Tom Briscoe - A big moment in the second half could have gone his way if not for a big play from Rodrick Tai to palm back a Hardaker pass. Ifs and buts now. Tried his best; it was just not Hull's day. 5
Davy Litten - Ran strong and was really solid, especially in the first half. Never backed down. Some pressure-relieving plays from Warrington kicks too. Certainly one of Hull's strongest performers. 6

Lewis Martin - Dealt with all kicks and returned the ball strongly. Made one break. Went well as always, even if denied a second-half try with a foot in touch. 6
Cade Cust - Involved in both of Hull's first-half tries, unleashing his half-back partner Aidan Sezer. Always a threat with his running game, but the link at times in attack just wasn't fluent. With John Asiata and Will Pryce out, that's no surprise. Moved to hooker for the last quarter of the game. 5
Aidan Sezer - Had Hull's best moments. His assist to Barron may have been forward, but there was no doubting his own try, running strong to score. Unfortunately, that spell was as good as it got. 6
Herman Ese'ese - Ran strong as always and bumped off plenty of tackles. Couldn't turn the tide in the second half. 6

Amir Bourouh - Tidy. Tried to keep Hull ticking. Came off on the hour mark. 5
Liam Knight - Used as Hull's middle ball link. Played big minutes and tried to lead the charge. 6
Zak Hardaker - Competitive as always, he tried his best to get at Wire. Massive defensive effort. 6
Ed Chamberlain - Ran well off Sezer when he got the opportunity. Put himself about as always. 5
Yusuf Aydin - Played the whole first half in what was a big effort from the energetic middle. 5
Jack Ashworth - Tried to add a bit of punch off the bench. 5
Brad Fash - Hull were under the cosh during the large majority of Fash's time on the field, but he never backed down defensively. 5
Jack Charles - Came on after the game had already slipped away. 5
Sam Eseh - Put himself about but to no avail. 5

I have no ego to think I'm better than the Championship. You only prove something by performing and showing people. You can say whatever you want but unless you perform. "It was just when an opportunity and a situation you think suits you can happen, you should take it and you should try and go for it, so I wanted to move. It was close but it didn't end up happening." Burnley have signed goalkeeper Max Weiss in a £4.3m deal from German side Karlsuher, only adding to the feeling Trafford was set to depart Turf Moor. Kompany expecting "top European level" standard from Flamengo
Ahead of their Club World Cup last-16 clash with Flamengo, Bayern Munich's Vincent Kompany attended his press conference. The Bavarians' head coach discussed the importance of the tournament and have his thoughts on their Brazilian opponents. Ruthless Topuria wins second title before shoving Pimblett
Topuria and Pimblett have been rivals since 2022 [Getty Images] Ilia Topuria knocked out Charles Oliveira in ruthless fashion to win the lightweight title and become a two-division champion at UFC 317 in Las Vegas. The Georgian-Spaniard, who vacated his featherweight belt earlier this year, ended the fight in the first round with a brutal straight right-left hook combination. Advertisement The 28-year-old became only the 10th double champion in UFC history as he extended his unbeaten run to 17. Topuria then faced off with and shoved Britain's Paddy Pimblett, potentially setting up a mouth-watering title bout between the two rivals. "I don't think [Pimblett's] going to accept the fight. If you think you're ready, come on, bring him here," said Topuria. Liverpool's Pimblett was shown on television cameras sporting a big grin and rubbing his hands together, before he entered the octagon and clashed with Topuria. "That was a heavy knockout but you will never knock me out. I'd finish you," said Pimblett. Advertisement The pair have history, after a dispute at a hotel prior to UFC London in 2022. Pimblett has staked his claim for a title shot recently, rising to eighth in the UFC lightweight rankings following a dominant win against Michael Chandler in April. Topuria had a stellar 2024, knocking out Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, but confirmed he would leave the featherweight division because of the difficult weight cut. Both fighters were cheered during their walkouts and it was the confident Topuria who struck first, opening a cut above Oliveira's eye. After Topuria got the better of a grappling exchange on the ground, the fight then returned to the feet before he delivered his highlight reel moment. As Oliveira stepped in, Topuria landed a flush, straight right before connecting with a left hook, leaving the Brazilian flat out on the canvas. Topuria celebrated by drinking an imaginary cup of tea before hoisting a UFC title belt over each shoulder. With Pimblett ranked eighth in the lightweight rankings he may not seem the logical choice as Topuria's next opponent, but stranger things have happened. Armenia's Arman Tsarukyan, who is ranked first, and third-ranked American Justin Gaethje may have stronger claims for a title shot, but Pimblett would be the most fan-friendly option. The 30-year-old, who has won all seven of his fights in the UFC, earned the biggest win of his career against Chandler in April, but Topuria represents an imposing challenge.
