The Boeing 737 was set to depart last week when crew members heard mysterious meows coming from inside the aircraft. Engineers discovered the culprit upon inspection—a stowaway cat nestled deep within the plane's electrical bay.
However, each attempt to retrieve the furry fugitive only sent it scurrying further into the intricate mechanisms, raising alarms about potential mid-air disaster.
With no other options, engineers grounded the flight, fearing that the cat's presence could interfere with the aircraft's vital systems.
A waiting game ensued. Instead of high-tech tools or elaborate rescue plans, the solution proved to be simple: patience. After two days of evading capture, the cat finally emerged of its own accord when a door was left open.
With the feline fugitive finally gone, the plane was cleared for takeoff and successfully departed for Germany on Monday—minus one unexpected passenger.
Cat caused chaos by boarding Ryanair plane just before departure: A stowaway cat caused cancellation of a Ryanair flight in Rome last week, that also led to a two-day grounding after the feline intruder started hiding inside the aircraft's avionics compartment.

Video: 4 whales wash ashore in Japan after tsunami

Published July 30th, 2025 - 07:00 GMT ALBAWABA - Hours after Russia's 8.8-magnitude earthquake, Japan was hit with a 1.3-meter tsunami, causing four whales to wash ashore along the coast of Tateyama, Chiba. A live broadcast captured the rare moment as whales are usually not affected by tsunamis. Another video showed Japanese civilians in Hokkaido taking shelter on top of a building in fear of the tsunami. Authorities in Japan urged citizens to stay alert as bigger waves could be on their way. A social media user wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "It's not a common thing to see at all, and it's indicative that this quake was absolutely DEVASTATING to the marine life." Video: Mysterious black smoke seen in Chitgar area in Tehran

Published July 17th, 2025 - 07:55 GMT ALBAWABA - A huge cloud of black smoke was spotted in the Chitgar neighborhood in western Tehran, Iran, on Thursday, July 17. Social media users have been sharing videos and photos of a smoke cloud rising into the sky and questioning the reason. Until now, no official Iranian media outlet or governmental source has detailed the accident, nor has any person mentioned any information about whether there were casualties or not. Similar incidents were reported in the past few weeks after the end of the 12-day war with Israel and they were mostly attributed to gas leak explosions. — Pouria Zeraati (@pouriazeraati) July 17, 2025 © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (
