Teen falsely accused of covering up John George killing tells police of plot

A young woman who has been falsely accused of covering up the murder of John George has called in the cops after she was told she would be murdered.
Madison Smyth – the wife of Newtownabbey man Jonny Smyth who's currently being held in Spain in connection with the December murder – has been made aware of a sick plot where she would be murdered and her death would be made to look like suicide.
Friends of the 19-year-old, who is living in Alicante while her husband awaits a decision from the Spanish judicial system as to whether he'll be charged or not, say she was made aware of a plot where her would-be killers were tracking her movements by her mobile phone.
She's also been the subject of shocking false claims this week by online trolls including a completely untrue allegation that she raped Belfast man Dan McMeekin.

Last week we revealed how McMeekin was stabbed and seriously injured in Spain months after he was accused of having been aware that the 37-year-old father-of-two was going to be attacked but failed to inform him or the family. While McMeekin was stabbed, he was not subjected to any sex attack at any point.
In the aftermath of that story sick messages and threats were posted to Madison on social media.
In one twisted message, an anonymous account claimed Madison had already been 'got'.
And they went on to state: 'Give it a few hours that wee girl that tracks n clones phones got her ya heard it here first.'
And it continues: 'Keep watching it will be made to look like suicide and let her lies die with her karma is the biggest bitch and she deserves what she's heyyinf (sic)'.
Dan McMeekin was stabbed two weeks ago on the Costa Blanca
And an account later posts a shocking and completely unfounded claim that Madison 'raped' Dan McMeekin.
The account writes: 'After John was Murdered Dan Mc was beat and how little miss daddy issues removed his trousers and boxers and RAPED him with a kitchen roll holder? It's all on video and as the saying goes what doesn't come out in the wash comes out in the rinse.'
Last night the PSNI confirmed they were investigating the online abuse following a complaint.
A spokesperson said: 'Police in Antrim received a report of malicious communications on Monday, 23rd June. Enquiries are on-going.'
A friend of Madison's told the Sunday World: 'Madison is devastated with this latest nonsense and has taken the threat seriously and changed her phone and called the cops.
Madison is allowed conjugal visits with husband Jonny Smyth
'They have also posted online that she raped Dan McMeekin, It's completely sick. Madison was a friend of Dan's and tried to help him when he was struggling.
'Both her and Jonny's mum Dawn have had nothing but abuse and lies about how they were somehow involved in covering up John George's murder.
'The Spanish police have made it clear they aren't interested in either of them as having anything to do with the murder of John George.
'Madison is just gutted that this keeps going on and just wants the truth to come out so people can see.
'The allegations are bizarre – from Dawn cleaning up a murder scene and laundering criminal money to Madison raping Dan. It's complete madness.
John George was murdered in Spain
'They seem to want to keep it all in the public eye but Dawn and Madison have never been suspects in what happened to John George.
'It's got nothing to do with them. Jonny and Michael Maly (the other suspect) are grown men so whatever happened let the court sort it out.'
As revealed here previously, Dawn Smyth and members of Madison's family have issued legal proceedings against a number of people accusing them of harassment.
Dawn's house has been targeted in an arson attack and a car was also set alight at her Ballyclare home, while pipe bombs were left near her home and near a property connected to Madison Smyth's family.
Two weeks ago Dan McMeekin, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction for years, was stabbed in a late night attack on the Spanish coast.
The 29-year-old – who has admitted online he should have contacted the family of John George before the 37-year-old was murdered – was viciously attacked with a knife in the Costa Orihuela area of the Costa Blanca.
Madison Smyth made tens of thousands of pounds from her OnlyFans account, where subscribers pay £12 a month for uncensored adult content
According to reports in Spain McMeekin, a self-confessed drug addict, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday, June 15 in La Zenia, near Torrevieja.
Despite local news reports stating there were 'pools of blood' found at the scene of the early morning attack, he survived the shocking incident and was recovering in hospital.
It has also been reported in press in Spain that the authorities have revealed McMeekin told them he knew who had stabbed him but that he would not be telling them.
They also revealed McMeekin has a criminal record and it's well known he has a series of convictions for domestic abuse against a former partner.
In January Belfast lawyers acting for the family of John George named Dan McMeekin as being one of two men who was due to appear in court in Spain – not as suspects but to tell the court what they knew about the lead-up to the murder.

McMeekin, who is known to be extremely vulnerable due to substance abuse issues, became a target of social media trolls and amateur investigators after the murder of John George.
He knew John George well and was in a bar in Spain where it's claimed a plan was hatched to attack the Belfast man who was later found murdered.
The father of two was shot and his body was left in a rural area in the Alicante region around December 14 but his body wasn't discovered for several weeks.
Supporters of John George and his family believe McMeekin has information relevant to the investigation. However, he has never been arrested or charged with anything.

Last month it emerged Madison Smyth had got married to her caged partner Jonny Smyth in a secret wedding in Gibraltar.
Jonny and Madison, who used to make tens of thousands of pounds from streaming their steamy sessions on OnlyFans, are entitled to conjugal visits which last three hours.
Madison Smyth told the Sunday World they are effectively provided with a hotel room for private use twice a month.

Bilingual barrister comes to aid of 'nervous' translator in Special Criminal Court

A bilingual barrister came to the rescue at the Special Criminal Court today when a "nervous" interpreter on his first day struggled to translate for a group of Spanish men charged with drug offences. The three-judge court was expecting to be updated on whether a group of six men would require trial dates for allegedly conspiring to import a large quantity of drugs into Ireland. As prosecution counsel Tessa White began to speak, Ms Justice Karen O'Connor, presiding, became concerned that the Spanish interpreter was not translating what was being said. The judge turned to Cathal McGreal, defending, saying: "You have good Spanish, are you satisfied that what is being translated is accurate?" "No," Mr McGreal replied. The court gave the parties time to tell their clients what was happening. When the court resumed, Mr McGreal explained that the interpreter has worked previously in hospitals but never in a court setting. "The interpreter is perfectly capable but he got very nervous and was worried if he could continue," Mr McGreal said. He said the interpreter would be able to translate the rest of the day's business which required nothing more than setting dates for a next appearance. Juan Antonio Gallardo Barroso, aged 56, of no fixed address in Spain, is one of 10 men charged following the massive seizure of drugs in 2024. Picture Larry Cummins Ms Justice O'Connor heard that two of the accused, Ali Ghasemi Mazidi, aged 50, with an address in the Netherlands, and Raul Tabares Garcia, aged 48, of Cadiz in Spain, will require trial dates. Ms White said the trial is likely to take four to six weeks. Ms Justice O'Connor adjourned the matter to July 21, when she will set a trial date. Co-defendants Sean Curran, aged 37, with an address at Carrickyheenan, Aughnacloy, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, Juan Antonio Gallardo Barroso, aged 56, of no fixed address in Spain, Pedro Pablo Ojeda Ortega, aged 36, of Cadiz, and Angel Serran Padilla, aged 40, of Malaga will have their cases mentioned again on July 7. In total, 10 men from Ireland, Spain, Serbia, and the Netherlands are charged with conspiring with one another to do an act in the State that constitutes a serious offence, namely the importation of controlled drugs in excess of €13,000 on dates between February 27 and March 14, 2024, both dates inclusive. The alleged offence is contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. Gardaí arrested the ten men in March last year during operations in the villages of Tragumna and Leap near Skibbereen in west Cork, where a jeep, camper van, articulated truck, and rigid inflatable boat were seized as part of the suspected drug smuggling operation.

Cocaine dealer walks free from court after claiming he only sold to mates

"Nobody can believe the judge seems to have fallen for his nonsense … He'll be celebrating big time' This is the drug dealing pal of ear-biting serial thug Martin Valliday who was convicted this week of supplying cocaine. Ryan Samuel Prenter – who's known as Smurf – pleaded guilty at Antrim Magistrates Court to having cocaine with intent to supply. Pictured here for the first time, Prenter told the court he was only selling the highly addictive drug to his friends but sources in Antrim say he's an associate of Martin Valliday. Valliday is a notorious criminal who has tortured the town of Antrim where he lives for years and was once jailed for committing GBH and robbery on a man who had contacted him to buy ecstasy tablets from him but ended up nearly having his ear bitten off. This week Prenter, of Mull Road in Antrim, was allowed to walk free from court after a judge gave a one-year probation order and told him he must serve 75 hours' community service. Court News NI reported how Prenter was caught when cops searched a vehicle in Antrim town earlier this year and found seven grammes of cocaine. They also located cash, scales, a mobile phone and ten zip bags in the vehicle near the Junction shopping complex around 4.45pm on March 9. The court heard he had a previous record but not for drugs. A prosecutor said the defendant told police he 'gets cocaine in bulk and then splits it between him and his friends and they provide him money for this'. A defence barrister said there was a 'significant gap in offending'. Ryan 'Smurf' Prenter Today's News in 90 Seconds - July 1st District Judge Nigel Broderick said: 'Normally anyone who pleads guilty to possessing drugs with intent to supply can readily expect to receive an immediate custodial sentence'. The light sentence came in the week a County Armagh father went public to call for automatic custodial sentences for those convicted of dealing cocaine after his son took his own life after he became addicted to the drug. Tom McGrath's 22-year-old son Matthew had been using cocaine for several years when he was found dead in the garage of his mother's home in February 2024. Speaking to the BBC, Mr McGrath said he is particularly concerned that many people who deal drugs do not end up serving jail time. A source in Antrim said: 'He's been a low-level drug dealer for years and works with Martin Valliday and his gang of thugs. "Nobody can believe the police and judge seem to have fallen for his nonsense he only sells gear to his friends. 'He'll be celebrating big time that he has pretty much got away with dealing cocaine.' Ryan 'Smurf' Prenter This time last year we reported how Martin Valliday had been put back behind bars for kicking a PSNI vehicle and telling cops it was 'payback for George Floyd'. Valliday was arrested after he had launched what a judge described as a 'terrifying' attack on the home of a woman with a crossbow and a hatchet in December 2023. When he was arrested he went berserk, and when interviewed he bizarrely claimed he was taking revenge for the murder of George Floyd – despite that having nothing to do with the PSNI. In February 2020 Valliday was jailed for three-and-a-half years for a shocking attack which left a man with permanent injuries in what was described in court as a 'drug deal gone wrong'. The victim had told the police he had contacted Valliday through Messenger, wanting to buy ecstasy. The man said he was hit on the back of the head with a beer bottle while Valliday tried to bite his ear off, even shouting 'I have nearly got it'.
