Wimbledon 2025: Jack Draper dumped out in second round by spectacular Marin Cilic
Draper had worked his way up the rankings to No4 in the world and had a decent draw, so plenty had tipped him to go far in the tournament.

However, the 23-year-old Englishman is out on the Championships' fourth day after failing to contain Cilic, the big-hitting Croatian, who won the US Open in 2014, and reached the final at SW19 in 2017.
Draper is still yet to make it past the second round at Wimbledon at this stage in 2022 and 2024 as well as this year.
The Sutton-born British No1 was seen as the greatest home hope of Wimbledon 2025 but is just the latest in a long line of top seeds on both the men's and women's sides of the draw to exit the tournament at the first or second round.
His conqueror, 36-year-old Cilic, is a former world No3 but has only recently returned to the top 100 after falling outside the top 700 due to persistent knee problems.

Cilic's appearance at Wimbledon this year follows a four-year absence and comes after he became the oldest grass-court champion in Challenger Tour history with victory at the Nottingham Open last month.
'Where I was three years ago, I can't even describe,' he said in his on-court interview following his scalp.
'It has been a long journey. To be able to come back and play against Jack with this sort of crowd is just incredible.'
Draper was pushed throughout by Cilic, who he admitted afterwards 'fully deserved to win'.
The Croatian was 0-40 up on Draper's serve at 4-3 but Draper showed guts to win five straight points and serve out for 4-4.

The first set ended with a break of serve for 6-4, however, and Draper was again broken in his first service game of the second set, which he lost 6-3.
Spectators inside Court No1 were largely of a Draper persuasion, as expected, and their rallying cries seemed to boost the world No4 in the third set, when he broke for 3-1 in a game where Cilic was warned by the umpire for a time violation after taking too long on a first serve.
Draper soon broke again for 5-1, taking the set 6-1 to stay in the match.
However, he could not knock the ace-laden Croatian off serve in the final set and was broken himself in its final game as Cilic won the match to set up a third-round meeting with the unseeded Spaniard Jaume Munar.

In beating Draper, Cilic became the first Croat to earn top-five wins at all four Slam events.
Defeat for Draper was a tough pill to swallow, but the Englishman's earnest review in his post-match press conference was that he had not played well enough to win, and that Cilic fully deserved victory.

All calm after yesterday's practice at McLaren — but Brown definitely has eyes on Ferrari today and tomorrow, saying its one-lap and longer stint pace is impressive. There were a few classic cars taken around the Silverstone track ahead of FP3 — including McLaren CEO Zak Brown driving Nigel Mansell's 1987 Williams F1 charger. And it sounds like that may be responsible for the extra rubber out there, as well as our slight delay. As for the weather, it looks much cooler but just as windy at Silverstone — if not more so. The direction could well flip between today and tomorrow too. So many challenges for these teams. Now then… Race Control has stated the start of FP3 will be delayed. But no word on how long or why — although there are still marshals out on the track clearing loads of 'marbles' from the track. 'Marbles' being small pieces of rubber that come off the tires as they degrade around the track. And now it is confirmed — the delay will only be five minutes. One more hour of rehearsals left — and it starts in five minutes. LET'S GO… Formula 1 It's not quite double the points tally of its nearest rival, but McLaren isn't far off it now. To be honest, there won't be anyone else winning the constructors' championship this season in my view — which I first declared yesterday. And yes, I know we're not even halfway through the schedule. The real fun is behind them, with Ferrari just a point ahead of Mercedes and Red Bull still no nearer finding a point-scoring second driver behind Max Verstappen. There is also only one point between Haas in P7 and Aston Martin behind, while Sauber just two points further back (26). Alpine remains the real struggler, stuck on 11 points at the back of the field and desperate for better. Quickly. Formula 1 It's looking tight at the top — but you can see why it's all about McLaren and no one else. Oscar Piastri's lead is now down to 15 points from Lando Norris, with the pair way clear of Max Verstappen in third. Below Lewis Hamilton, you will find Kimi Antonelli (63 points) while Nico Hulkenberg's 22 points and P10 in his Sauber is arguably the performance of the season so far. Alpine's Franco Colapinto (like the driver he replaced after six races, Jack Doohan) is the only driver on the grid this weekend yet to pick up a championship point. Grid penalty for Bearman at British Grand Prix after a pit-lane crash under a red flag
SILVERSTONE, England — Oliver Bearman will head into his first home race in Formula 1 with a 10-place grid penalty after crashing on his way into the pit lane under a red flag. The 20-year-old Haas rookie lost control and spun into a barrier while coming into the pits after the third practice session had been stopped because of an earlier crash for Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto.
