Pasquale's Deli now open under new ownership

Yahoo17-03-2025
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A popular Binghamton eatery known for its signature sausage has been resurrected by three of its biggest fans.
Brent, Andrea and Brianna Hannum reopened Pasquale's Deli on Broad Avenue to a big crowd on Saturday.
The deli had abruptly closed in October 2023, much to the dismay of its loyal followers. It's popular as a quick breakfast and lunch spot for workers on the go.
The Hannums are working with the former owner Perry Pasquale to offer the same homemade specialties such as chicken, pork spiedies, halupki, fried haddock, soups and more. It is by far best known for its sausage, both in links and in patty form as the basis for the legendary 'grampwich.'
Brent says regular customers like his own family are happy that it's back, including one 5-star reviewer online.
'The word he wrote was 'unpretentious.' I didn't know what that meant so I googled it. It meant that it's something where you're not trying to impress anybody with anything else but what you have inside which is the food,' said Brett.
'We're here to impress you with our food,' said Andrea.
'We don't need anything flashy smashy, we've got some of the best food you'll ever find in Broome County,' said Brett.
Perry Pasquale opened the deli in 1987 selling homemade sausage using his grandfather's recipe which is still used today.
Pasquale says his grandfather also inspired the grampwich by forming ground sausage in a patty and throwing it on the grill.
The deli is open Monday through Friday 6 to 4 and Saturdays 8 to 4.

Oil prices climb on U.S.-EU trade optimism, Russian gasoline cuts

Oil prices rose on Friday, buoyed by optimism over a potential trade deal between the U.S. and the European Union and reports of Russian plans to restrict gasoline exports to most countries. Brent crude futures gained 17 cents, or 0.3%, to $69.35 a barrel by 0027 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures climbed 15 cents, or 0.2%, to $66.18 per barrel. Oil settled 1% higher on Thursday, driven by media reports of expected cuts to Russian gasoline exports. This overshadowed news of Chevron Corp potentially securing U.S. approval to resume production in Venezuela. President Donald Trump's administration is preparing to allow limited oil operations in the sanctioned OPEC nation, the Wall Street Journal reported. U.S. crude inventory draws and hopes for a trade deal between the U.S. and the EU for lower tariffs were lifting futures, which fell earlier in the week over fears of a worsening global trade war. "I am encouraged by the way crude oil held and bounced away from the $65/64 support band this week, which keeps hopes intact of a rebound back towards $70," said Tony Sycamore, an analyst at IG. U.S. Energy Information Administration data on Wednesday showed crude inventories fell last week by 3.2 million barrels to 419 million barrels, far exceeding analysts' expectations in a Reuters poll for a 1.6 million-barrel draw. EIA/S Two European diplomats said on Wednesday that the EU and the U.S. were moving toward a trade deal that could include a 15% U.S. baseline tariff on EU imports and possible exemptions. That could pave the way for another major trade agreement following a deal with Japan. Investors will also be turning their focus to upcoming economic data next week from the world's top two economies and largest oil consumer - factory activity data from China and key U.S. indicators such as inflation, jobs and inventory data. "It is a big week next week data-wise," IG's Sycamore said.

CVX, XOM, SHEL: Oil Prices Recover on News of U.S. Trade Deals and Inventory Decline

Oil prices are recovering as the U.S. announces trade deals with countries such as Japan and reports emerge of a sharp decline in American crude inventories. Brent crude oil, the international standard, is up 1% and trading at $69.06 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, the U.S. benchmark, is also up 1% at $65.91 per barrel. Analysts say that energy markets are now focused on U.S.-European Union trade talks and whether the two powers can reach a negotiated deal before U.S. President Donald Trump's August 1 tariff deadline. A recent trade deal with Japan lowers duties on automotive imports and spares the Asian nation from new levies in exchange for a $550 billion package of investments and loans sent to America. Still, uncertainty over U.S.-China trade negotiations and the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia are limiting further upside in oil prices, say some analysts. The rise in crude prices is helping to lift the stocks of oil majors such as Chevron (CVX), ExxonMobil (XOM), and Shell (SHEL). Inventories Fall In recent months, WTI crude oil has been range-bound between $60 and $70 a barrel. On the supply side, the U.S. Energy Information Administration has reported that U.S. crude oil inventories fell last week by 3.2 million barrels to a total of 419 million barrels. That decline was greater than the 1.6-million-barrel drawdown expected among analysts. Separately, foreign oil tankers were temporarily prevented from loading at Russia's main Black Sea ports due to new regulations, effectively halting exports from Kazakhstan. And the U.S. government has reiterated that it is considering sanctions on Russian oil to help end the ongoing war in Ukraine. Is CVX Stock a Buy? The stock of Chevron has a consensus Moderate Buy rating among 15 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on nine Buy, five Hold, and one Sell recommendations assigned in the last three months. The average CVX price target of $164.00 implies 9.30% upside from current levels.

BP,CVX,SHEL: Oil Stocks Drop Despite Prices Surging on Trump Trade Talks

Oil prices were higher in early trading today as progress in U.S. trade deals dampened fears of a global economic meltdown. Total Fallout Brent crude futures, the international standard, gained 0.6% to trade at $68.90 per barrel in early trading, while West Texas Intermediate futures climbed by the same margin to $65.67 a barrel. However, the move upwards did little to boost oil stocks with BP (BP) down 0.4%, Chevron (CVX) off 0.3% and Shell (SHEL) down 0.4% in pre-market trading. Weighing on investor sentiment were Q2 results from TotalEnergies (TTE) which reported a drop in profits and revenues and issued a warning over a glut in oil supply. This, it said, was down to the unwinding of production cuts by cartel OPEC+ and weak demand from a global economic slowdown. The uptick in prices today may be the beginning of better news for the sector. Sentiment has been helped by recent U.S. trade deals with Japan and Indonesia as well as stronger optimism on a potential deal with the EU. That comes after a volatile period for oil prices, as can be seen with U.S. Crude below, because of tariff fears. Price Flow 'Buying was driven by optimism that progress in tariff negotiations with the U.S. would help avoid a worst-case scenario,' said Hiroyuki Kikukawa, chief strategist of Nissan Securities Investment, a unit of Nissan Securities. 'Still, uncertainty over U.S.-China trade talks and peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia is limiting further gains.' He believes that the WTI price will likely remain range-bound between $60 and $70. That's a common view among analysts who have previously stated that a 'geopolitical premium' on the oil price is likely to keep the Brent price above $65. The premium refers to the continued uncertainty over conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. We have rounded up the best oil stocks to buy using our TipRanks comparison tool.
