Footage emerges of Daniel Dubois partying before Oleksandr Usyk fight

Daily Mirror3 days ago
Fans were left shocked when the British heavyweight star turned up to his fight with Usyk just 90 minutes before he was set to make his walk to the ring
Stunning footage has emerged of the party which saw Daniel Dubois turn up late to his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.

Many within the boxing community have blasted the gathering - which was reportedly put on Dubois' father Stand - as a 'disruptive' interference with the heavyweight star's day. 'Triple D' sparked fears after he pulled up to Wembley Stadium just after 8:20pm - 90 minutes before he was scheduled to make the walk to the ring.

Dubois went on to suffer a brutal knockout defeat in the fifth round. The Brit struggled to get into the fight. And - despite having some success in the fourth round - was dropped with a right hand before being sent crashing to the canvas seconds later with a stinging left, which forced the referee to wave off the fight.

Prior to his bout with Usyk, footage has emerged of Dubois' dad throwing a party in his Essex home just hours before the fight. It has been reported that around 70 people attended the bash - some of whom 'Triple D' didn't even know. A video - which has gone viral online - shows Dubois being mobbed by partygoers at his house while music plays in the background.
Further reports state that the 27-year-old left the home and briefly went for a quick drive. His father later drove him to Wembley after private cars - which were accredited to enter the area around the national stadium - were used to transport guests to the venue.
That only delayed Dubois' arrival as the car they travelled in was not accredited and he did not get into the venue until 90 minutes before the scheduled ring walk time. Usyk turned up slightly earlier to watch his good friend and teammate Daniel Lapin compete on the undercard. There were also chaotic scenes when entering the venue over getting some of those party guests into the venue with Dubois held up in the middle of it all.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Joseph Parker, Lawrence Okolie and Spencer Oliver were all left stunned by the reports. "That is insanely disruptive," said Joseph Parker. "I'm very surprised, I'm shocked. That many people over? You're preparing for a massive fight. You need rest, you need to chill, you need to get in the zone, and he's got this big party happening."
Lawrence Okolie concurred: "The problem is, it's coming from someone that he looks (to) out of the ring. It's coming from his dad. I've trained with him, his dad's a huge part of his life, so that is obviously going to be disruptive," while Spencer Oliver added: "We're talking about fighters being regimental and superstitious on the day, some fighters want to wear a ring in their laces and all that stuff. It all has to be on point for you to go in there, any little thing can throw you off track."

When is Daniel Dubois' next fight?
Whether the constant delays on the day of the fight affected Dubois' performance remains to be seen. As for what's next for the young Brit, his promoter Frank Warren has advised 'Triple D' to take six months off and learn from Usyk's mental resilience if he wants to make it back to the top.
Warren stated: "You've got to learn from defeats, I mean that's what life's about, isn't it? You know, not everything goes your way, you got to come back, it's the mark of a man if he can do it, and we'll see if he could do it.
"He's got to resurrect himself. That's what we've had to do. That's the story. Usyk a quality, quality fighter, he has a great boxing IQ, and he's got the most unbelievable mental attitude. That's what makes him. That's what Daniel's got to learn from. Try and get and develop the mental attitude that Usyk has."

Australia vs British & Irish Lions betting tips: 2nd Test prediction and best bets

Australia vs Lions tips: After winning the first Test last weekend, the British & Irish Lions could wrap up the series win against Australia with a win in Melbourne on Saturday (11am, Sky Sports Main Event). Andy Farrell's side secured a 27-19 win in Brisbane, thanks to tries from Sione Tuipulotu, Tom Curry and Dan Sheehan, but it could have been so much better. The Lions were leading 24-5 early in the second half, but a combination of a slower last half hour and an Australian improvement saw them cut the deficit to just eight. Farrell is expecting an improvement from Australia, who will have key forwards Will Skelton and Rob Valetini available again after missing the Brisbane opener with calf injuries. But he also knows there is more to come from his Lions side, not least a performance that lasts the whole match. Australia vs Lions prediction: Lions to secure the series Rugby betting sites are backing the Lions to win the series 3-0 at odds of 1/3, while a 2-1 win is 3/1, so they are not holding out much hope that Australia will improve enough to win this weekend. You can get just 1/5 on a Lions Test win, but 7/2 on a win for the home side, while a rare draw is priced at 28/1. Eight points separated the two sides in the first match, and you can get 5/1 on the Lions winning by 6-10, but with Australia strengthened with the experienced duo returning, the Wallabies could make further inroads into that total. Farrell's side were perhaps guilty of letting their foot off the gas in the second half, but with the chance to close out the series, we're backing them to get the job done in Melbourne. Australia vs Lions betting tips: Sheehan to score another try I backed Sheehan to score a try in the first Test, and that one came off as he ran in the third and final try for the Lions just after the break, and I'm backing him again to come up with the goods once more. Sheehan has been dangerous in and around the tryline to date down under. He scored the first try in Australia with just one minute on the clock in the Lions' opening game against Western Force in Perth. The Irish hooker also scored five tries for his country in this year's Six Nations and betting sites are offering a price of 11/8 on him scoring anytime in the Lions tour odds. British boxing champion, 34, abused by army of rival fans in front of ‘worried' young son

REECE BELLOTTI is fighting for birthday boy Jackson - after Ryan Garner's army of fans labelled daddy a 'w*****'. The 34-year-old Watford super-featherweight took his son - who turned 10 on Thursday - down to his 27-year-old opponent's Southampton home to announce the fight in May. 2 And - in a St Mary's fanzone - The Garner Army of Saints turned sinners and pelted Bellotti with x-rated stick. The Bomber loved the added motivation to win the British, Commonwealth and European clash but his lad has not forgiven or forgotten and he wants revenge for his birthday even more than his new Nintendo Switch. Ahead of the Bournemouth battle, Bellotti told SunSport: 'I have watched Ryan over the years and it's always felt like a fight that would happen and when we have crossed paths in the build-up, he's also always seemed like a respectful lad. 'He seems a decent fella and I don't think I'm an a***hole, so we get on well and both parties respect each other. 'But when we launched the fight I was getting a lot of abuse, not from Ryan, but from his fans and I absolutely loved it because it got me pumped up and then I couldn't wait to get into training after that. 'They were swearing and chanting at me and every time I went to speak on the mic they hurled abuse at me. 'I loved it but my little boy was there with me and he was overawed by it and worried about me. 'He loves the build-ups and has done lots of them before but that side he hadn't seen before, the whole crowd abusing and against me. 'Now he wants me to win more than ever and has mentioned Ryan to me a few times.' Old-school Bellotti was too polite to explain the exact words that upset his lad but 'The Piranha' didn't need to be asked twice. He QUIT! Chisora | Split Decision | Usyk vs Dubois 2 fight review | Sun Sport Before we could even get the question out, he giggled: 'I know what you are going to ask: w*****, w*****, w*****! 'I thought 'oh bloody hell, he's got his nipper here, bless him. 'I didn't expect it really, it took me back a bit, but I was speaking to Reece the whole time we were there together and there's no animosity, we're similar sorts of fellas. 'Me and Reece are just fighters, we will turn up and have it out and then we will shake hands after.' If Garner cleans up the domestic scene with his 18th pro win, he might nail down a world title shot at St Mary's next summer. And it will be an incredible turnaround for the 9st 4lbs ace, who used to be a little Saints toerag on the terrace. He laughed: 'I have a great relationship with the club and the dream now is to fight there - only problem is few of my pals from school are banned! 'I still just feel like a normal bloke but now I mix with some of the important people and players at the club. 'Me and all my mates are Southampton riffraff but suddenly I am mixing it with the top dogs, it's a bit mental.'
