Woman complained after being left 'clearly very distressed' when man allegedly tried to forcibly kiss her
An EastEnders actor was arrested on set over an alleged indecent assault.
Shocked stars including Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale, are believed to have been filming when an extra in his 50s allegedly tried to forcibly kiss a woman at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire, on May 7.
The woman, who sources said was 'clearly very distressed' complained and security stepped in to grab the man, which led to a scuffle before the actor was handed over to police.
According to reports, the man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of the woman and of common assault against another person, which is alleged to have happened while he was escorted away. He is said to have been released on bail while investigations continue.
Filming resumed after the incident. The Mirror reports that a source told The Sun the incident was 'dramatic' and 'everyone was quite shaken by up by it all.'
The witness said: 'No one could quite believe what was happening.
'The main focus was the woman's welfare, as she was clearly very distressed. Obviously, filming had to be stopped while the incident was dealt with by production managers and security.
'It got very heated when the man squared up to the security staff as they tried to calm things. Eventually, he was questioned and taken away by police.'
It is understood that the cameras didn't capture footage of the alleged attack, but it's not clear whether the scenes filmed on the day of the incident have been screened on TV yet.
The source added that 'everyone involved in the production, including the cast and crew, acted very responsibly in an extremely difficult situation.'
Crew members were said to be grateful to bosses for the 'professionalism and understanding' they showed in handling the incident.
Hertfordshire Police confirmed that a suspect in his 50s was 'arrested on suspicion of common assault and sexual assault in relation to two victims.' The force added: 'He is on police bail whilst enquiries continue.'
EastEnders said in a statement on Saturday: 'While we would never comment on individuals, EastEnders has on-site security and well-established procedures in place to safeguard the safety and welfare of everyone who works on the show.'

Jay Blades 'just weeks away from starring in new reality TV show' before arrest

Former BBC Repair Shop host Jay Blades is said to have signed up to a brand new ITV reality show but was dropped when news of his arrest emerged weeks before filming started Axed BBC star Jay Blades was reportedly set to appear on a brand new reality TV show before his arrest came to light. The former Repair Shop host pleaded not guilty following being charged with engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards his estranged wife last year. Blades, who rose to fame on the hit BBC show, was arrested on May 3. It was the same day his wife Lisa Zbozen publicly announced her split from the presenter after 18 months of marriage. He was said to have signed up to new ITV show Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters before his arrest. However, the show was reportedly thrown into chaos after allegations emerged with bosses taking swift action to remove Blades. 'Attracting a popular BBC star to be in the new ITV series was a big win for bosses," a source told the Sun. 'But as soon as Jay Blades was arrested in March 2024, they knew they had to make a quick decision about the future of the show. 'He was given the boot. Producers got lucky as they hadn't started filming or doing any promotion yet so were able to replace him with someone else." They added travel plans had been put in place for those taking part, so his exit caused "upset and disruption" behind the scenes. Blades became a household name when he began hosting The Repair Shop in 2017 when the show first aired on BBC Two. In October 2022 the dad-of-three was the lead presenter for a special edition of the BBC series featuring the newly crowned King Charles. He then worked on a 15-part restoration series with Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason. David and Jay's Touring Toolshed aired at the start of last year and was a hit with viewers. However, recent episodes were pulled from the BBC schedule and catch-up programmes. Blades was due to head to the Bahamas alongside the likes of Sir Lenny Henry and Call the Midwife 's Helen George to overcome their fear of sharks in the ground-breaking new show premiering this week. Ross Noble, Countdown's Rachel Riley, McFly's Dougie Poynter, Amandaland's Lucy Punch and TV presenter Ade Adepitan also took part in the series that marks 50 years since the release of iconic film Jaws. They were taught to dive by an instructor with missing limbs and challenged to confront their greatest fear and flown to the island on Bimini in the Bahamas, home to around 10 different species of shark. Weeks after the series was announced, Blades was arrested and charged. He appeared at Worcester Crown Court in October where he spoke to confirm his identity and entered his not guilty plea. The trial begins on August 26 and is expected to last two weeks. The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.

Southport killer 'most dangerous prisoner in Britain' amid 'new threats'

Rudakubana, 18, is being held at HMP Belmarsh, where he is alleged to have attacked a guard earlier this year in an assault using boiling water that landed them in hospital Twisted Southport killer Axel Rudakubana has threatened to attack staff at his prison again, leaving insiders convinced he is the "most dangerous prisoner in Britain". Rudakubana, 18, is serving a 52-year life sentence for the murders of Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, Bebe King, six, and Alice Da Silva Aguiar, nine at a Taylor Swift -themed dance party in Southport, Merseyside, last year. The teen is serving out his sentence at high security prison HMP Belmarsh, where he allegedly attacked a prison officer in May by throwing boiling water over them. Rudakubana is now alleged to have levelled further threats at staff, forcing them to take drastic measures only typically applied to the "most dangerous" inmates. ‌ ‌ A source told The Sun staff at HMP Belmarsh are living in fear that Rudakubana - who "has nothing to lose" - could attack, with several threats noted on the prison's system. They said: "Threats are noted on the system if a prisoner says things like, 'I will kill you' or 'I will smash your face'. Notes have been kept about Rudakubana - and they all point to him being the most dangerous prisoner in Britain." The source also alleged that Rudakubana may only be released from his cell during a "five-man unlock", when five staffers equipped with SWAT equipment are required to guard the teen. ‌ They claimed the measure is "incredibly rare" and last used with infamous inmate Charles Bronson. The source also claimed he has been banned from the prison's IT systems, including the intranet inmates would use to order from the canteen and take part in educational courses. They continued: "It just shows how dangerous he is. And it is even more rare for someone to be banned from all IT and computer systems. That happens only to the most dangerous terrorists in the system. ‌ 'Inmates cannot go online, but they do things like order from the canteen and education courses on the intranet-style system. But even that is seen as too dangerous for Rudakubabana. He is completely unrepentant and as far from being rehabilitated as you can get.' The Mirror has contacted the Ministry of Justice for further information. Rudakubana has been subject to a police investigation following is alleged boiling water attack in May, with the prison service saying in a statement that violence in prison "will not be tolerated and we will always push for the strongest possible punishment for attacks on our hardworking staff". The unidentified prison officer was sent to hospital following the alleged incident and discharged the same day, the prison service said.

Boots shoppers 'feel like royalty' with £66 perfume that's now £26

"Would definitely recommend this product to anyone. It's my go to scent" Boots shoppers have been impressed with the chance to get a perfume that smells like it is "high end" without having to spend a fortune. The scent is marked down at better than half its original price on the high street store's website. The health and beauty store's sale, which offers up to 50% off items like perfumes, skincare, and hair tools, ends tomorrow (July 15). Vera Wang's Princess Eau de Toilette has been heavily discounted beyond the usual price cut. The 'timeless' fragrance, which has been sold in stores since 2006, is normally worth £66 for a 100ml bottle. However, with the Boots online deal, the same perfume costs just £26 - a saving of £40. Boots describes it online as a fruity floral perfume that mixes "rich vanilla with exotic flowers and succulent fruits. "The retailer added: "The scent sparkles with the captivating, sweet, tart aroma of delicate lady apples and dreamy water lily kissed lightly by golden apricot and mandarin meringue. "This sweeps into a heart of ripe pink guava and the rare, coveted Tahitian tiare flower, wild tuberose and dark chocolate. In the base, tempting vanilla chiffon and pink frosting are combined with precious amber and forbidden woods to wrap the fragrance in a mysterious air. Princess is an enchanting celebration of modern femininity." Other popular perfume deals are available elsewhere, whether for a thoughtful gift or a bit of self-care. Superdrug has a sale on Ghost Orb of Night (was £44, now £36), and The Perfume Shop has slashed the price of Gucci Rush (worth £79, now £34.99). Thousands of shoppers were raving about the perfume in the reviews. One said: "Vera Wang Princess Eau de Toilette is a dreamy, whimsical fragrance that instantly makes me feel like royalty. It's sweet, playful, and just the right amount of youthful without being overpowering." Another added: "My daughter got this for me for my birthday and I love it. She agreed that it is a great quality perfume, especially for how affordable it is, with the scent and quality of this you'd think it's a higher-end perfume." A third put: "Blend of vanilla, floral, and fruity notes creates a soft, charming scent that's perfect for everyday wear. I love the whimsical bottle design too! It's a feel-good perfume that always brightens my mood and gets compliments." However, not all shoppers were convinced by its timeless appeal. One put: "Very light scent. Wore off in less than a minute even after several sprays. Not worth the price - even at sale." Another suggested: "Purchased as a cheap perfume for work, don't know how this can be marketed as a perfume, expensive water lasted all of 10 minutes. Feel ripped off." And, a third claimed: "I was hoping have some nice kick as a lot of nice review but it's shame as you cannot even smell it." However, despite its critics, most felt the bottle was worthy of a five-star review. Someone said in their review: "Really nice smelling perfume. Bought a few times and absolutely love it. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone. It's my go to scent."
