Plans on to make Challenge Sir Bani Yas a flagship global triathlon event
SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)With the success of the first Challenge Sir Bani Yas in Abu Dhabi, plans are on to make it a flagship global triathlon event, officials from the organising team told Aletihad. Held on April 5-6 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, Challenge Sir Bani Yas contributes towards Abu Dhabi's vision of becoming a global sports hub, said Ahmad Shaker, Chief Executive Officer of Capital 360 Event Experiences, part of ADNEC Group, which is a co-organiser of the event.Future editions of the challenge could include additional race categories, community programmes, and robust partnerships across the UAE, creating a legacy that will promote wellness, tourism, and global visibility for the region, Shaker said.Ahmed Al Obaidli, COO of ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, said the distinctive triathlon on the island "shines a spotlight on the Al Dhafra region, driving visitation, encouraging longer stays, and supporting local businesses"."With athletes, spectators, media, and support teams travelling to the area, the event stimulates demand for several industries such as hotels, F&B, logistics, and leisure experiences. We have seen a surge in hotel occupancy thanks to this event that will contribute to the local economy," Al Obaidli said.
"More importantly, it positions Al Dhafra as a destination for adventure and eco-tourism, opening new opportunities for sustainable economic growth," he added.
Sir Bani Yas Island had been chosen for the first long-distance triathlon in the Middle East because of its "unmatched setting", Shaker said. "With its pristine nature reserves, rugged terrain, and open waters, it provides a one-of-a-kind backdrop that challenges athletes while showcasing the UAE's natural beauty and commitment to sustainability," he added.
Hosting a full-distance race under the Challenge Family brand solidifies the emirate's reputation in several aspects, from sport tourism to organising world-class events.

Al Obaidli said the Challenge Family had worked towards enhancing the event's global reputation and credibility. The gathering of elite athletes, media, and international spectators had bolstered the prestige of the event.Notably, UAE residents also stand to benefit from it being a qualifier for the 2025 World Championships to be held in Australia.

ADHA launches interactive digital platform for residential land and residence exchange service
1 Aug 2025 18:35 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA) has transformed the exchange services for lands and houses in Abu Dhabi by introducing a fully digital experience through the Iskan Abu Dhabi App. This is part of a series of updates aimed at enhancing the user journey and streamlining access to housing benefits via the new updates include the activation of the customer-to-customer exchange service for houses and land in Abu Dhabi, as well as the launch of an interactive digital platform within the Iskan Abu Dhabi App, to further enhance the exchange services. The platform empowers citizens seeking to exchange their housing or land benefits to post them on the app, making them visible to all users interested in property exchange. It also enables citizens to browse, explore, and select options that best align with their needs and preferences. The new updates enable citizens to exchange their housing or land benefits through the app using three options: as a mutual agreement between two citizens, exchange by searching for suitable properties on the platform, or by submitting a request to exchange with available properties from the government's inventory. Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of ADHA, said: 'We have strategically upgraded the exchange services to fulfil the requirements of citizens seeking to exchange their land or houses within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The update marks the shift to a fully digital experience, allowing users to list their properties and explore various exchange options through an interactive platform. The platform provides essential details such as location, plot size, and infrastructure readiness, among others. TECOM Group reports Dh737 million net profit in H1

The Group reported robust net profit growth of 22 per cent year-over-year (YoY) to Dh 737 million, with revenue rising 21 per cent YoY to Dh 1.4 billion during the Group noted a YoY 24 per cent increase in EBITDA, which reached Dh1.1 billion, maintaining healthy EBITDA margins at 80 per cent, reflecting sustainable business from operations (FFO) increased by 17 per cent YoY to reach Dh984 million, supported by consistent collections and improved revenue Board of Directors approved an interim dividend payment of Dh400 million for H1 2025, in line with the approved Dividend Policy valid until September Al Malek, Chairman of TECOM Group, said the results reflect the Group's resilience and its ability to keep pace with the economic growth witnessed in the UAE.
