PFL Champions Series Africa live updates: Results, round-by-round coverage
The event takes place at GrandWest Arena in Cape Town, South Africa, and broadcasts live on ESPN+ starting at 5 p.m. ET. The undercard is opening round action of the PFL Africa tournament, featuring bantamweights and heavyweights, streaming live on the PFL app starting at 10 a.m. ET.
In the headliner, undefeated middleweight champion Johnny Eblen (16-0) puts his title on the line against Costello van Steenis (16-3). In the co-feature, unbeaten 2024 women's flyweight PFL season winner, Dakota Ditcheva (14-0), takes on Sumiko Inaba (8-1).

Patriots first practice in full pads date revealed
Following four training camp practices, the New England Patriots are scheduled to have their first practice in pads on Monday, via ESPN's Mike Reiss. The team has held competitive drills in helmets and shorts throughout the spring and the first week of training camp. With the pads coming on, fans will have an opportunity to get a more realistic look at where the team currently stands in its preparation for the regular season. The intensity will ramp up with tackling and trench-fighting. There is no better gauge of talent than physical competition on the football field. Reiss wrote: "Vrabel said his most exciting day of camp is when the team is in full pads for the first time, because there's always an under-the-radar player who emerges. The Patriots' first full-pads practice is scheduled for Monday." The football season is right around the corner. NFL preseason football kicks off with the Pro Football Hall of Fame game on Thursday, and the first Patriots preseason game is slated for August 8 against the Washington Commanders. WNBA All-Star Weekend sets all kinds of viewership history
The post WNBA All-Star Weekend sets all kinds of viewership history appeared first on ClutchPoints. The WNBA is gaining steam in terms of popularity and attention. Television ratings for the league have steadily increased over the past year, and this year's All-Star weekend continued that trend. The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game was the second-highest watched All-Star game ever for the league, per ESPN. ESPN released a graphic that showed viewership was up 158 percent from the 2023 game. About 2.2 million people watched the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game on television and streaming services. The WNBA Skills Challenge and 3-point Contest also drew in big numbers. TV viewership was up 89 percent from last year, ESPN said. It was the highest-rated skills contest and 3-point challenge ever on TV for the league. The skills contest also was the most-viewed program across all TV in primetime for people under 35 years of age, per ESPN. This is obviously very good news for the league. The WNBA has lost money consistently since its inception, but there is hope that the league's growing popularity will turn it into a profitable enterprise. Caitlin Clark sat out WNBA All-Star Game activities One of the WNBA's biggest stars is Caitlin Clark, who plays for the Indiana Fever. Due to an injury, Clark sat out All-Star weekend festivities. Even without her on the floor, the league was able to get plenty of eyes on their festivities. The 2025 All-Star Game was not able to match the viewership ratings though of last year's game. Many believe that is because Clark wasn't able to suit up. She still appeared on the TV broadcast, even though she didn't officially play. 'Caitlin Clark effect manifests itself in 2 ways: Anything with Clark, then without, drops hard. NCAA title game -54%. Draft -49%. All-Star -36%. Regular-season -50% during her time out (but still up for 2025),' Sports Business Journal reporter Austin Karp wrote on X, formerly Twitter. 'Numbers even without Caitlin well above years before her arrival.' In the All-Star Game, Team Collier won 151-131 over Team Clark. Napheesa Collier led her team with 36 points. Kelsey Mitchell had 20 points to lead Team Clark. WNBA fans hope this trend continues flowing in the right direction. Paul Finebaum reacts to Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith being called best in college football
Sometimes you hear things you just can't believe, especially when a precedent has been set. ESPN's Paul Finebaum's rise to fame came from being the mouthpiece of the SEC. At times it's warranted, and at other times it feels like a schtick to how he plays things up and riles up opposing fanbases not drinking sweet tea and eating grits. And while Finebaum has given Ohio State credit in the past, more often than not, teams and players performing athletic feats in the game of football in the south often get the benefit of the doubt. Color me and a lot of others surprised then by the way Finebaum reacted to the question of whether or not Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith was the best in college football. ESPN's unofficial SEC mascot didn't even hesitate when asked the question on a segment of "Get Up" on the "worldwide leader." 'That he is, he's so good, Greeny. You know, doing the draft, where he would have gone last year, it's incredible he has to stay in college with all the convoluted rules, 'Finebaum said. 'The biggest issue they had last year with Chip Kelly calling the plays was getting him the ball enough. Remember, in the Michigan game. He didn't get the ball enough in the Texas game. I think that will change this year, but he is without a doubt the best player in the game.' I wouldn't say Finebaum's response is shocking, but it might be a little surprising. However, when you have a talent like Smith, who almost every national media member believes is the best player in college football, sometimes it's so obvious that going against it just doesn't make any sense. Heck, even Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was drinking the scarlet and gray colored Kool-Aid when asked about Smith at Big Ten football media days. Finebaum does bring up a good point, though. Can the Ohio State coaching staff and new quarterback get Smith the ball enough in some of the most important games to pull out wins that could mean the difference between a Big Ten and College Football Playoff national championship, and simply having another really good year?
