Ignored For IPL 2025, India U-19 World Cup Winning Team Captain Scores 56-Ball Century
Last Updated: The former India U-19 World Cup winning team captain hammered 8 fours and 7 sixes during his stay at the crease on Sunday and helped his team win the match by 8 wickets. Former India U-19 World Cup-winning team captain Yash Dhull, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, scored a century in just 56 balls on Sunday (August 3). In the second match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, the 22-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi opened the innings for the Central Delhi Kings in the 175-run chase against the North Delhi Strikers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and hammered eight fours and seven sixes during his stay at the crease. He added 16 runs in 1.2 overs for the first wicket with wicketkeeper Siddharth Joon (14 runs from six balls), 82 runs in 9.2 overs for the second wicket with Yugal Saini (36 runs from 24 balls), and an unbeaten 79 runs for the third wicket with captain Jonty Sidhu (23 not out from 19 balls) to help his side secure a big win by 8 wickets. #DPL #DPL2025 #DelhiPremierLeague2025 — Delhi Premier League T20 (@DelhiPLT20) August 3, 2025 Dhull, who has served as captain of Delhi in the Ranji Trophy in the past, was the captain of the India U-19 team that won the title in 2022. He made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2023 but could only manage to score 16 runs in four matches. Dhull was part of DC in the IPL from 2022 to 2024 but didn't play any games in the world's richest franchise cricket league last year (2024). He was released by the Delhi-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction in November 2024, and he entered the auction in Saudi Arabia with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. But surprisingly, he was ignored by all 10 IPL franchises and went unsold. 2018 India U-19 World Cup winning team captain Prithvi Shaw was also released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and like Dhull, he also went unsold in the mega auction. There were reports of Shaw joining Chennai Super Kings as an injury replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad, but instead of Shaw, who has 1892 runs to his credit in 79 IPL matches, CSK signed 18-year-old Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre. Mhatre was 17 years old when he made his IPL debut for CSK against the Mumbai Indians under MS Dhoni's leadership at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 20, 2025. The right-handed batter played seven games for the five-time champions in his first-ever IPL season and amassed a total of 240 runs. Get latest Cricket news, live score and match results on News18. IND vs ENG 5th Test: Mohammed Siraj's bizarre blunder leaves Prasidh Krishna red-faced
Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj (Images via Getty Images & AP) Harry Brook has been England's most dangerous presence at the crease so far on Day 4 of the fifth and final Test, pushing India onto the back foot with his aggressive approach. But one moment in particular summed up the dramatic swings in this match and left India pacer Prasidh Krishna red-faced. In the 35th over of England's chase, Brook top-edged a pull shot off Prasidh and the ball went high into the air. Mohammed Siraj at long leg took the catch cleanly, prompting Prasidh to break into celebration. The pacer stretched his arms out wide in triumph, walking in front of Brook as if the contest had turned. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! However, he had missed one crucial detail. Siraj, in the act of completing the catch, had taken a step back and touched the boundary cushions with his foot and then crossed it altogether. That meant it wasn't a wicket, but rather, six runs. Brook, fully aware of the situation, calmly walked back to the crease, while Prasidh's face quickly turned to one of disappointment. His celebration abruptly ended as he realised what had happened. Siraj, too, had his hands on his head in disbelief, visibly frustrated at his misjudgment. However, things remained jovial between Siraj and Prasidh as the two shared an embrace at lunch. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo The moment summed up a difficult phase for India, as Brook continued to chip away at the target. No Chris Gayle, 5 Players From MI! AB De Villiers Picks His All-Time IPL XI
AB De Villiers played in the IPL with Chris Gayle for Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2011 to 2017, and they both helped RCB reach IPL finals in 2011 and 2016. Legendary South African batter and former captain AB de Villiers played in a total of 184 IPL matches for two teams—Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (formerly Royal Challengers Bangalore)—and scored a total of 5162 runs. During his IPL career from 2008 to 2021, ABD hammered three centuries and 40 fifties. The 41-year-old cricketer, who is one of the greatest players of all time, in a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, picked his all-time IPL XI. In his list of 11 players, ABD included five from Mumbai Indians and two from Chennai Super Kings. But surprisingly there was no place for Chris Gayle and Rashid Khan. Gayle played 85 matches for RCB in the IPL from 2011 to 2017 and scored 3163 runs. Rashid, on the other hand, holds the record for taking the most wickets in T20s. In the IPL, the legendary spinner from Afghanistan has played 136 matches so far for two teams and picked up 158 wickets. In addition to ignoring Gayle, ABD didn't include any player from the West Indies in his all-time IPL XI. In the last 18 years, apart from Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell from the West Indies have played more than 100 matches in the IPL and made big names for themselves. ABD included former India and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma as opener along with Matthew Hayden, who played 32 matches for CSK and also won the Orange Cap in IPL 2009. Virat Kohli was included as the No. 3 batter by De Villiers, and the highest run scorer in IPL was followed by Suryakumar Yadav at 4. Surya is the captain of India's T20I team, and in IPL 2025, he won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season award. De Villiers included himself as the No. 5 batter, and he was followed by Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni. Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga, who have only played for MI in their IPL careers, were the two pacers De Villiers picked in his all-time XI, and the two spinners were Yuzvendra Chahal and Daniel Vettori. AB de Villiers' all-time IPL XI: Rohit Sharma, Matthew Hayden, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, AB de Villiers, Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Lasith Malinga, Daniel Vettori. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
