From start-up to £1m sales in five years for Aberdeen AV entrepreneur

When Aberdeen man Adam Wilson started his own audio-visual company he was determined to build a business he was proud of.
Fast forward five years and the 41-year-old has seen his company PCL Live break £1 million turnover.
The past year has seen him work with some big names including Dragons' Den stars Steven Bartlett and Sara Davies.
Adam has described the record sales as a 'huge moment' as he looks towards expanding the company.
PCL Live provides hire, installation, live streaming and production using the latest AV technology.
Adam originally launched Live Evolution – now called PCL Live – during a Covid lockdown in 2020.
It became part of a joint venture with Aberdeen-based IT support and services company PCL Group in 2022.
Adam said: 'Reaching £1 million in turnover is a huge moment for us.
'What started as a lockdown business has grown into one of the UK's most agile and ambitious AV companies.
'That success is down to our brilliant team, our loyal clients and our belief in always delivering above expectations.'
Since day one, all profit generated has been reinvested into the business – more than £500,000 to date – to ensure PCL Live remains at the cutting edge of audio-visual technology and service delivery.
Adam is now targeting further growth in the months ahead and has promoted Alex Sherman to the role of commercial director to help lead the expansion strategy.
The firm is also launching the Pathways programme to help train and inspire the next generation of audio-visual professionals.
Adam said: 'With Alex stepping into the commercial director role and our new Pathways programme launching, we're setting the business up for long-term success.'
PCL Live has been involved in delivering technical production and installation for a range of major projects and events across the UK.
Notable ones include a world-first 163 inch LED touchscreen video wall and a complete AV fit-out for Opportunity North East's flagship SeedPod food and drink innovation hub.
On the events side, the team played a key role behind the scenes at Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce's Ultimate Masterclass Festival, which has featured Davina McCall and Gary Neville in previous years.
Adam said: 'We've invested heavily in our people and our kit, and that's allowed us to compete with – and often outperform – larger firms. And we're just getting started.'
PCL Live, based in Golden Square, was a winner at last week's Northern Star Business Awards, picking up the customer service award.

Snezana Wood steps out wearing unusual bandage as she runs errands with daughter Eve in Melbourne

Snezana Wood was doing a supermarket run with her daughter Eve Markoski-Wood on Monday. The former Bachelor star was sporting an unusual accessory in the form of a square bandage on her neck. The 44-year-old appeared a tad tired as she popped into the local shops in Elsternwick with her teen in tow. Snezana was casually chic in a white shirt underneath a dark wool trench coat, and had on a pair of blue jeans. She opted for a natural makeup look with some winged eyeliner and a soft pink lipstick. It's unclear why the former reality star, who recently dyed her hair to an auburn tone, was wearing the bandage on her neck. Eve, 19, matched her mum, wearing a black and blue ensemble consisting of a loose jumper and jeans. The pair left a Coles supermarket, each carrying a brown paper bag containing their purchases. The sighting comes after Eve opened up about her biological father in a rare and deeply personal public moment that has since gone viral. The teenager broke down in tears during an interview with Dose of Society, which was shared to the popular Instagram page's 1.7 million followers earlier this month. In the raw and unfiltered video, Eve was asked: 'What is the most painful thing anyone has ever said to you?' Her candid response left viewers stunned: 'Probably that I don't deserve the life I'm living.' Wiping away tears, the Melbourne-based teen explained it was her biological dad, Jason Rapoff, who made the comment. 'I don't know why he said that to me. I grew up just with my mum,' she continued. 'She raised me to be the woman I am today. He wanted to see my mum suffer. And I think when he saw that my mum had built a life for both of us, it was just more of a reaction.' Eve revealed she hasn't seen her biological father in eight years and that he was largely absent from her childhood. 'He was never around when I was little, so it was just my mum and I. I was very close to my mum's side. 'Everyone was there to support me. But I think he just did some things a while back that ended him in places he shouldn't have been in. He just got involved with the wrong people,' she said. The heartfelt clip quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of views and comments, with fans flooding the comments section with support and admiration for Eve's strength. When asked what she would say to her mum today, Eve fought back tears again. 'How proud I am of her,' she replied. 'She's done a lot. She sacrificed a lot. She was working nine to five, and after that going to uni. 'She ended up getting her bachelor's in molecular genetics and biology. Seeing how strong she is, how much strength she's got to keep going through all of this - it makes me proud to be my mother's daughter.' Eve, who has grown up largely in the spotlight after Snezana found love with Sam Wood on The Bachelor in 2015, later commented under the clip, offering further insight into how hard it was to speak so vulnerably on camera. 'Thank you so much for letting me share my story,' she wrote. 'I was nervous about how this would be received, especially being vulnerable on social media, knowing how harsh it can be. But the kindness and messages I've received have meant more than I can explain.' Snezana and Jason's short-lived marriage lasted a year before the pair separated in 2005, when Eve was just two months old.

A fourth-generation, family-owned bakery business has seen its brand surge in popularity as it expands beyond its west-of-Scotland heartland. Glasgow-based McGhee's has made it as a new entrant to the 'most chosen' category in the Worldpanel by Numerator's 2025 Scotland Brand Footprint rankings, placing it second behind iconic soft drink Irn-Bru. The report reveals the ranking of shoppers' most chosen food and drink brands over the past year, with Graham's The Family Dairy, Tunnock's, and Bells accounting for the other top Scottish names. The Worldpanel by Numerator report highlighted strong sales of soft white rolls and potato scones among the products driving growth at McGhee's. Aisling McGhee, commercial director at Glasgow-based bakery business McGhee's. In recent years, continued investment in plant, equipment and site expansion has enabled the firm to significantly increase production capacity, helping sales of its signature rolls to triple in volume. Alongside its rolls, customer favourites such as empire biscuits, caramel shortcake, assorted tarts, as well as pineapple and raspberry tarts, continue to see strong demand. The growth comes as McGhee's embarks on an ambitious brand refresh ahead of the bakery's 90th anniversary next year. Aisling McGhee, commercial director at McGhee's, said: 'We are incredibly proud of our Scottish roots and the role we have played in helping to feed Scotland for four generations. Being included among the most popular Scottish brands - and among the top 20 brands across all categories - is an incredible achievement and testament to the strategy we have put in place in recent years. Lesley Ann Gray, strategic insight director at Worldpanel by Numerator, added: 'For brands, the chances of finding a place in household cupboards and fridges around the world are as uncertain as a coin toss, with inflation and geopolitical pressures heavily influencing how people shop and which products they choose.
