Universal Names Former eOne Exec Kezia Williams as New U.K. Head
Kezia Williams is set to join Universal Pictures International as its managing director for the U.K. and Ireland.
Williams will report to Paul Higginson, executive Vice President, EMEA for Universal Pictures International and will manage day-to-day operations in the territory when she joins at the end of February. She replaces former Universal Pictures UK MD Rob Huber, who left the company at the end of 2024.

With more than 20 years of experience in distribution and marketing, Kezia was most recently at Entertainment One, initially as head of marketing & distribution and then as managing director, overseeing the company's U.K. film business and leading integrated, event-driven campaigns to record-breaking results, including '1917,' 'The BFG,' 'The Girl on the Train' and 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.'
This appointment marks Williams return to Universal, having previously spent five years on the U.K. Marketing team, where she contributed to the successful launch of 'Despicable Me' in 2010 before serving as deputy marketing director for Warner Bros U.K. for more than three years.
'I am confident that Kezia will be an invaluable leader for our UK and Ireland teams, bringing fresh approaches backed by decades of experience to garner operational excellence,' said Higginson.
'Her leadership, coupled with the exceptional talent and management in place in the UK and across the region, will further our positioning in the market as we gear up for our full slate of films for 2025 and beyond.'

Amanda Seyfried is opening up about how she auditioned for "Wicked" multiple times. On the latest episode of "In the Envelope: The Actor's Podcast," Seyfried said she auditioned for the Jon M. Chu-directed musical six times. "I auditioned like six times for Wicked because that had to be really just right," she said. "And I loved it. I was busy. I barely had time to do it, but I made it work." As with "Wicked," Seyfried, who starred in the 2012 film "Les Misérables," said she did six auditions before being cast in that movie as well. Of the audition process, she said, "I actually love it, because it's scary as hell, but I love getting notes and shifting my performance." "It's like a puzzle for me," she said. "I love the puzzle and I love the competition. And I love waiting for the phone call with the feedback from the casting director." I'll show it to you.' I love helping people audition. Her biggest piece of advice for actors was to be themselves in an audition. "I think centering yourself and just saying what you feel as opposed to a bunch of bull---- is going to be helpful, because that insecurity that's filtered through your behavior is not attractive," she said.

Speaking on Backstage's 'In the Envelope' podcast (via People), the Oscar nominee revealed: 'I auditioned like six times for 'Wicked.'' 'Because that had to be really just right,' Seyfried said. 'I loved it. I was busy. I barely had time to do it, but I made it work. I worked my ass off for years and years and years on that music. I'm competitive… with myself in a really healthy way.' There's this weird fear when you walk in that you have to make an impression right away, which you do but the only impression that is helpful is to be yourself. 'I have dreams that I'm still auditioning for 'Wicked,'' Seyfried said at the time. 'I think it taught me how far I've come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove. Because ever since 'Les Mis,' I was like, I need to be better. I need to do better. So whatever comes next in terms of musicals, I'm finally prepared.' Seyfried is often open about the roles she has and hasn't gotten in Hollywood. On the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast earlier this year, the actor spoke about being offered the role of Gamora in Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' She thought the movie was too weird and worried signing on would result in starring in Marvel's first misfire. 'Let's also remember that being a part of the first Marvel movie that bombs ain't good for your career,' she continued. 'I thought that because this was about a talking tree and a talking raccoon that it would be Marvel's first bomb and me and Chris Pratt would never work again. I was wrong! But I was just being smart. It's not brave.' Seyfried admitted she was 'way too scared' to take a chance on 'Guardians,' which ended up being a break out hit for Marvel Studios in 2013 with $773 million at the worldwide box office.
