Glastonbury Festival ticket sales were reduced for 2025 to avoid overcrowding, says organiser
The music festival, which usually has capacity for 210,000 people, is returning later this month, with British pop band The 1975, folk star Neil Young and his band the Chrome Hearts, and US pop singer Olivia Rodrigo topping the bill.
In an appearance on the BBC Sidetracked podcast, the festival co-founder announced a number of changes to the festival.
Revealing that the festival has managed to buy some land "just on the outside of the site" for crew members - Eavis also said that the music area Shangri-La will be "going full trees and green space" which is completely the opposite to anything they've done in the past."
She added: "We've also sold a few thousand less tickets, so it will be interesting just to see how that affects the dynamics on site."
In the interview, Eavis also commented on mystery secret act Patchwork, which is lined up to take to the Pyramid Stage on Saturday between 6pm and 7pm.
Avoiding speculation, Eavis said: "I've been working on Patchwork for a long time."
She also said that planning for their appearance had taken about a year for "logistical" reasons.
The first group of 2025 tickets for coach travel went in less than 30 minutes too - all before headline acts were announced.
Eavis said times have changed, adding: 'There were years where you just couldn't sell out, you just couldn't give them (the tickets) away.'

Canaletto Venice painting owned by first UK prime minister sells for record £32m
A painting of Venice by the Italian artist Canaletto which was once owned by the UK's first prime minister has been sold for a record fee. Venice, the Return of the Bucintoro on Ascension Day - painted around 1732 - was sold to an anonymous bidder for £27.5m (£31.9m with fees) at Christie's in London on Tuesday, setting a new auction record for the painting was hung on the walls of Number 10 Downing Street during Sir Robert Walpole's tenure from 1721 to global head of the Old Masters Department, Andrew Fletcher, said the artwork was "unquestionably the greatest work by the artist to have come to the market in a generation". Future of beloved BBC series with perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score explained
Toby Jones has delivered a bit of a blow to fans of his beloved BBC comedy series, Detectorists. The show, penned and fronted by Mackenzie Crook with Toby Jones starring as one of the 'detectorists', was first broadcast in 2014 and enjoyed three successful series. Centered around the fictional Essex setting of Danebury, it charted the adventures and comical endeavours of two mates, Andy and Lance, part of the local metal detecting club, as they sought out historical treasures beneath the earth. The pair swapped the drudgery of their day-to-day jobs for the thrill of unearthing ancient artefacts, immersing viewers in their whimsical world of hobbyist discovery. Gaining a substantial cult following, Detectorists won new fans all over again when it appeared on Netflix, despite this acclaim and sparkling 100% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes for each of its series, there's no intention to unearth more episodes, reports Devon Live. In recent remarks to Deadline, Toby pondered the show's continuation, suggesting: "Once you've maybe found the Holy Grail there's very little place to go." Reflecting on the closure derived from the 2022 Christmas special finale, he added: "The idea of coming back after that would be very hard and also... it's very British and not very American – but there is a certain virtue to leaving people wanting more." These sentiments resonate with creator Mackenzie Crook's own stance from his 2024 interview with The Guardian, where he affirmed: "I won't be making any more Detectorists, but nobody should be sad. We made just the right amount." He then quipped: "Having said that, I know Toby is keen to do a live stadium tour.."
