Bahrain Boxers Head to Portugal for international tournament
The Bahrain national boxing team is participating in the Braga International Boxing Tournament in Portugal. The delegation is led by Bahrain Boxing Federation President Rashid Isa Flifel.
Technical Team and Line-Up
The coaching staff includes English head coach Tony Davis, national teams coach Fathi Al-Misawi, and Bahraini coach Mohammed Naseem.
Nine boxers are representing Bahrain.
Backed at the Top
Rashid Flifel thanked His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his continued support of combat sports, and also praised the backing of Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa for national combat sports federations.
A Key Stop in 2025 Plans This tournament is part of Bahrain's 2025 competition calendar, aimed at improving national team performance and achieving further sporting success.

Chelsea stun PSG for world title
AFP | East Rutherford Cole Palmer scored two goals and made another as Chelsea stunned Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Club World Cup on Sunday, beating the European champions 3-0 before lifting the trophy alongside US President Donald Trump. PSG were the favourites after coming to the United States fresh from winning the Champions League and having destroyed Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals. But having been three goals ahead early on in the semis, this time the roles were reversed as PSG found themselves 3-0 down by the break. Palmer opened the scoring midway through the first half and struck again to make it two on the half-hour mark, before taking advantage of passive defending to set up Joao Pedro for the third on 43 minutes. A bad day for PSG was summed up when Joao Neves was shown red following a VAR review four minutes from the end for pulling Marc Cucurella by the hair off the ball. 'Being Club World Cup champion is something for us to be proud of. We are very happy, especially against a team in PSG who I consider the best in the world with one of the best managers in the world,' said Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, before hailing match-winner Palmer. 'These are the games where we expect Cole to appear because it is a big game, a big moment, and once again he showed how good he is.' Before Chelsea got to lift the trophy, tensions spilled over at full-time with players facing off on the pitch and Paris coach Luis Enrique raising his arm to the neck of Joao Pedro. Joao Pedro played a part in the build-up to that goal and the Brazilian, signed during the tournament from Brighton, then got his name on the scoresheet to make it 3-0. Scorer of both goals against Fluminense in the semi-finals, he clipped a shot past Gianluigi Donnarumma after being supplied by Palmer. PSG had conceded a single goal in their previous eight matches and they never really looked like producing a comeback, even if Neves headed just wide in firsthalf stoppage time. Substitute Liam Delap almost got a fourth for Chelsea midway through the second half, before Neves was shown red to complete a bad day for PSG.

Ireland's Healy takes Tour de France lead as Simon Yates wins stage 10
AFP | Paris Ben Healy climbed top of the overall rankings at the Tour de France yesterday on a mountain stage won by Briton Simon Yates in a breakaway group. Race favourites Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard crossed the line together just shy of five minutes behind the escape group after eight climbs in the Massif Central. 2025 Giro d'Italia winner Yates attacked on the last of the day's climbs, with Thymen Arensman of Ineos second and Healy coming third at 31sec. Healy won stage six of the Tour de France in Normandy on Thursday with a long solo break and yesterday he had already sealed the combativity award for his attacks. Healy had done most of the work in the escape all afternoon and now leads the Tour itself by 29sec from defending champion Pogacar, with Remco Evenepoel in third at 1min 29sec. Denmark's double Tour de France champion Vingegaard is fourth overall at 1min 46sec, and his Visma teammate Matteo Jorgenson sits fifth. Recompense for the home nation on the national Bastille Day holiday came in the form of Lenny Martinez as he earned the King of the Mountains polka dot jersey with 27 points garnered on the day's stage.

Bahrain showcases global horse racing ambitions at Newmarket Festival
Bahrain's REHC renews UK training partnership The Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club (REHC) has renewed its cooperation agreement with the British Racing School (BRS) to enhance the training and development of Bahraini jockeys. REHC CEO Yusuf Osama Buheji signed the renewed agreement with BRS CEO Andrew Braithwaite during a recent visit to the UK. Buheji emphasized the importance of these training programs in developing national equestrian talent, aligning with the directives of the Club's High Committee Chairman, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The partnership utilizes BRS expertise to elevate the capabilities of the Bahrain Jockey Academy, ensuring jockeys are trained to the highest technical standards.
