For Captain America Film, Anthony Mackie Asked to Ditch Falcon and Winter Soldier Cowl: ‘I Was Never Wearing That S–t Again'
In a new interview with IGN.com, MCU vet Anthony Mackie says that he demanded to ditch the white 'half-helmet' cowl and goggles that Wakanda had gifted Sam with in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale.

In the finale, Sam — amid much internal debate, after recently having his eyes opened by Black super soldier Isaiah Bradley's (Alias' Carl Lumbly) tragic tale — picked up Cap's mantle after decorated war hero John Walker (Lodge 49's Wyatt Russell) did it dirty by murdering a Flag Smasher in cold blood. With encouragement from Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) as well as his own sister Sarah (Adepero Oduye), Sam decided that the suffering of Isaiah and others would mean nothing if he didn't step up, stand up and keep fighting.
He just kept fighting in a brand-new fit, that's all.
'I told them that I was never wearing that s–t again,' Mackie shared with IGN. 'That was hard… with the heat, the sweat, the fogged-up glasses. It was impossible. It was my worst nightmare. '

Mackie makes his big-screen debut as Cap in Captain America: Brave New World, which hits theaters next Friday, Feb. 14.
'After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford in his MCU debut), Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident,' the film's official logline tells us. 'He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.'
Speaking of 'seeing red,' promotional materials and trailers for months have hyped up Ford's Red Hulked-out Thaddeus. We also see in trailers that Sam reunites with Isaiah Bradley, one of the original Super Solders, who has an ominous warning for the new Cap.

In addition to Mackie, Ford and Lumbly, the Brave New World cast includes Giancarlo Esposito (Parish) as Seth Voelker aka Sidewinder, the King of the Serpent Society; Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick) reprising his own FAWS role of Joaquin Torres, who is now the new Falcon; plus Shira Haas (Bodies), Xosha Roquemore (The Mindy Project), , Liv Tyler (9-1-1: Lone Star) and Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen).
Mackie has described Brave New World as, akin to 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 'a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s–t. Even though I've been in so many of them and have seen it all now, the opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger comes with this movie.'Best of TVLine

'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Post-Credits Scenes, Explained
Marvel's favorite family is officially back on the big screen as they join in on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and give us a glimpse at their retro-futuristic Earth as they face off against Galactus in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While this does mean that we won't see them interact with our other favorite heroes, we still have to wonder how it'll all connect with the rest of the MCU as we get closer to Avengers: Doomsday. So does the film's post-credit scenes offer up any clues? Here's everything you need to know about the end-credit scenes in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. They might be from a different Earth, but The Fantastic Four know a thing or do about tradition. Not only does The Fantastic Four: First Steps include a mid-credits scene, but there's also a fun surprise if you wait all the way until the end. Like we mentioned there is one mid-credit scene and another in the post-credits. In a big surprise, we're suddenly sent four years in the future where we see Sue Storm reading to Franklin on the couch. As they finish up another read, she sets out to find his favorite book with the help of H.E.R.B.I.E., who actually has a really funny suggestion for the book that Franklin might want to check out next. She finds the book in the kitchen, but feels that something is off when she returns back to the living room. Sue activates her powers as she tries to see what is happening behind the TV that's in the middle of the room when we suddenly see Doctor Doom (!!!) playing with Franklin. While we don't see their face, we do see him sporting the iconic green cloak while holding their mask in their hand. Immediately the screen goes to black and shows the words: 'The Fantastic Four Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday' After getting our heart pumping with that big hint, we get a different kind of surprise for the post-credit scene. Throughout the entire film, we have heard about The Fantastic Four cartoon and even got to see some glimpses of it. But now, we got to see the whole opening theme song including a catchphrase from our favorite clobberin' hero. It might not be a huge look at the future of the series, but it is still a fun way to end a great film! And, don't forget, The Fantastic Four were already featured in the post-credit scenes for Thunderbolts*, so we already know that a big link-up was going to happen. Hopefully we find out more real soon!

Box Office: ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps' Clobbers $57 Million Opening Day — Second-Biggest of the Year
'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' stretched its arms around $57 million from 4,125 theaters across Friday and preview screenings. Per Disney's numbers, that's the second-biggest opening day of the calendar year, ranking just behind 'A Minecraft Movie' ($57.11 million). The film is playing Imax and other premium large format auditoriums. It also just edges out Marvel Studios' comic book banner rival, DC Studios' 'Superman,' which began with a $56.1 million opening day just two weeks ago. It'll be a close call on whether 'Fantastic Four' can keep pacing ahead to beat the $125 million three-day opening of 'Superman.' 'First Steps' also has the benefit of strong reviews and good audience sentiment (pollster Cinema Score turned in an 'A-' grade among ticketbuyers). At a production cost of $200 million, plus much more to market and distribute, the film will need to hold as one of the biggest grossers of the year to turn a profit in theaters. Marvel's two previous 2025 releases, 'Captain America: Brave New World' and 'Thunderbolts*,' launched to $88.5 million and $76 million respectively. Both ended up losing money theatrically. Disney hopes to gain some momentum with the Matt Shakman-directed 'Fantastic Four,' ahead of the studio's extensive hiatus from superhero films. Marvel is producing 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' the fourth Tom Holland-led entry set to release July 2026. But Sony is distributing that film. Disney will have nearly a year and a half to plan for its next MCU installment, the mega-team-up 'Avengers: Doomsday,' set for December 2026. Second place goes to Warner Bros.' 'Superman,' which added $7.1 million on Friday. It's down 57% from its daily total a week ago, now competing with a newer superhero spectacle. The cinematic universe-rebooter should fly to a $289 million domestic total after its third weekend, which will put it ahead of 'Sinners' ($278 million) to have it rank as the fourth-highest grossing North American release of the year. Universal's 'Jurassic World Rebirth' is sliding to third in its fourth weekend, adding another $3.6 million on Friday. The seventh entry in the dinosaur series is projecting $13 million for its fourth weekend, which would be another good hold at a 45% drop. Total domestic gross is expected to pass $301 million through Sunday — only the third release of 2025 to get into the triple hundreds. Fourth looks to go to 'F1.' Warner Bros.' release of Apple Studios' racing thriller added $1.8 million Friday, down just 37% from its daily total a week ago. At a production cost of $250 million, theatrical profitability is a questionable prospect at best for the Brad Pitt-led feature. But it has put up strong holds since debuting a month ago. The film looks to hit a $165 million domestic total through Sunday. Paramount's IP revival 'Smurfs' rounds out the top five, adding $1.72 million on Friday and projecting $5.6 million for its second weekend. After a low opening, that's a 49% second-weekend drop, showing some relative staying power as the only new animated offering to families. Domestic total will hit $22.9 million through the first 10 days — a disappointing result against a $58 million production budget. The first clip kicked things off in the real world, where Ares (Jared Leto) and Athena (Jodie Turner-Smith) have been pulled out of the Grid by Evan Peters' Dillinger, and sent on a mission to track down Eve Kim (Greta Lee). What follows is a thrilling heart-pounding highway chase featuring the franchise's iconic lightcycles slicing across asphalt with lethal energy trails. The pursuit barrels into a parking structure where Eve takes down Athena, steals her lightcycle, and tears off in a desperate escape, narrowly dodging Athena's attempts to stop her. The second scene takes us back into the Grid. Athena launches a massive drone to chase Eve, but the surprise comes when Ares intervenes, not to eliminate Eve, but to protect her. This moment confirms what the marketing has been teasing for months… Ares, the program designed as a digital assassin, is about to turn against his creators. It sets the stage for a really cool and interesting story. Disney's official synopsis for the film reads: 'Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind's first encounter with A.I. beings.'
