Broken teaset mended with gold tells the story of refugees
'Fragments of Hope', the latest campaign from the UN Refugee Agency's national charity for the UK, is a celebration of the creativity, resilience and contribution of people who have rebuilt their lives in the UK after being forced to flee conflict and persecution.
There are now more than 122 million people displaced by conflict and persecution worldwide. The Japanese art of Kintsugi, meaning to mend with gold, repairs pottery by acknowledging its fractures and transforming them into something beautiful.
The artwork has been created by bringing together fragments of traditional tea sets from Ukraine, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sudan, including personal contributions by people who were forced to flee their countries.
The fragments reflect the diverse journeys of Viktoriia from Ukraine, a dedicated community development coordinator; Ayman from Syria, a self-taught filmmaker and storyteller; Sadia from Pakistan, an award-winning artist and advocate; Bashir from Sudan, a renowned poet and musician; and mother and daughter duo, Frozan and Victoria from Afghanistan, who support their community as an interpreter and an aspiring business leader.
Billie Bond said: 'Kintsugi is a centuries-old Japanese art of repairing with gold. It has long been recognised as a powerful symbol of resilience, and a reminder that beauty can be found in imperfection. This Refugee Week, Kintsugi once again serves as a meaningful metaphor, celebrating the strength and resilience of refugees and the ritual of healing – it's been an honour to play a small part in bringing these stories to life.'
Emma Cherniavsky, Chief Executive of UK for UNHCR, said: 'Fragments of Hope is a moving representation of how, even after the deepest fractures, refugees can rebuild their lives and futures with strength, dignity and hope."

According to one money-smart foodie, only known as @catchagemm on TikTok, there's a simple way to save almost £5 for the edamame beans alone during your next visit. And if you love ordering a cheeky takeaway from the popular chain, you might not want to chuck those boxes away. Spilling the beans on the platform, the TikToker first urged foodies to download the Wagamama app on their mobile devices. ''Once you download the app and sign up a new account, you'll get a free voucher for either edamame or prawn crackers,'' he said in the video. ''You can redeem these with your main.'' The cheapest mains, according to their new menu, start from just £10 - and by adding the free side, you'll make them more filling. IKEA: Make it a food day at the Swedish home store. On every day except Fridays, enjoy a pit stop at their famous cafe from 11am to get a kids' pasta or mac and cheese dish for 95p. Other mini meals are available for £1.50. PIZZA EXPRESS: Kids up to age ten can get a free three-course Piccolo meal including dough balls, pizza or pasta and dessert with every adult meal purchased. The offer runs every day until August 11. TESCO: Pop to the supermarket cafe from Monday to Friday until August 30 for free kids' meals when an adult buys any item in the cafe. Site closure However, if you live in Manchester, you won't be able to enjoy this epic offer - as its Spinningfields location has shut its doors after two decades of serving up fan-favourite dishes, we reported in February. The chain first opened the Spinningfields site in August 2005, making it the second Wagamama restaurant in the city. The venue, located in Spinningfields Square opposite Rosa's Thai, is now listed as permanently closed on the chain's website. A message told customers: 'We're now closed at this location. but don't worry, you can still get your favourites at the nearby St Peter's Square or Printworks restaurants.' A spokesperson for Wagamama confirmed the decision, stating: 'Given there are already two other wagamama restaurants in Manchester, guests are being directed to the two other sites to either wagamama Printworks or wagamama St Peters Square.' Brendan Rodgers doesn't need Celtic projects or development players and one transfer tactic is now vital
Rehearsals are well underway for the latest run of Celtic: The Musical, with the curtain to be raised in September. But unlike the stage show, the football team hasn't quite cast all of the leading roles yet. And some of the punters in the stalls are getting a little tetchy. They should know the drill by now though. Celtic have already signed five players but only two of them are first team ready. Kieran Tierney will walk in, it remains to be seen if Benjamin Nygren will be utilised as a wide man or no.10, but either way, he'll be around it. As for the rest? Don't bank on seeing them too often for a while. Ross Doohan is a more than solid back up, who might be the main man down the line. The noises around Callum Osmand suggest the former Fulham striker is going to be part of the set up but this is a kid who has yet to make a senior appearance in the game. He might have bags of potential – but it's going to take time. Likewise Hayato Inamura. Celtic have regularly plundered the Japanese market, but this is a left field one regardless. Unlike Japan caps Kyogo, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Tomoki Iwata, Imamura is only a year out of university in his homeland with little experience and no international recognition at any age level. But there's no need to get any knickers in a twist, it's a low risk punt for a ball playing left sided centre back. He'll either get a taste in the second half of the season and look the part – or he'll quietly head off for a loan spell in Belgium. No harm done either way. Yet for all Celtic have been busy, there's still a sense they haven't really got started in the market. Greg Taylor has gone but he's been replaced – or even upgraded – but Nicolas Kuhn's departure will leave a heck of a hole. Cashing in on the German was absolutely the right thing to do. Celtic turned a tidy profit on a lad who never looked entirely happy being at the club. Kuhn wasn't as rank rotten in the second half of the season as some made out, but there were some warning signs. He was hooked at half-time in the 3-2 defeat to Rangers after a cosmically awful 45 minutes and when it happened again at St Johnstone a fortnight later, it didn't seem a coincidence. Brendan Rodgers let rip at some of his squad that day and it's hard not to join the dots where a lot of the ire was heading. Kuhn didn't seem to get the point you are not allowed to have stinkers at Celtic. The size and passion of the supports means knees jerk and you have to rise above it. Instead, he seemed to take the huff. Giving it the blah, blah, blah celebration to punters when they clinched the league at Tannadice was the wrong gesture. In reality he was waving goodbye. That's why Rodgers doesn't seem too fussed about the parting of the ways. The Irishman has very little patience for petulance. It's absolutely key Celtic find replacements though. They still need another striker, at least one wide player is a must, along with back up for Tierney. Inamura isn't the solution to the left side of the centre of defence. The biggest miss in terms of Kuhn will be his pace – especially in the Champions League. You could see the mayhem he and Maeda caused in Munich when they turned on the afterburners and it's a quality Rodgers is obsessed about. The Hoops manager knows the real quality signings come later in the window but he needs to be properly backed. He'll take the early projects and development players and if he likes them they will flourish. If not they'd be as well sweeping the floors in the Lennoxtown canteen. There's no need to panic where there are still Brits in the draw at Wimbledon but we're getting to the point where – like with Kuhn – speed is going to be vital to keep the Hoops show on the road.
