Britney Spears admitted that she smoked a cigarette and drank alcohol while on an airplane as she apologised to those who were 'offended' by her actions.
Her explanation: She thought it was allowed.
Spears addressed the reports of her behaviour that 'violated federal aviation regulations' through a recent statement posted on her Instagram account.
The American singer explained that it was her friend who lit her cigarette that made her think she was on a plane where 'smoking is permitted.'
'Some planes I've been on you can't smoke mostly but this one was different because the drink holders were on the outside seat,' she captioned the video of herself holding a bottle of alcohol while on the said flight.
Spears noted that it was her first time drinking vodka which made her want to smoke, writing, '[I said], I want a cigarette so bad. My friend put it in my mouth and lit it up for me so I was like, 'Oh so this is a plane where you can smoke. I do so apologise to anyone I offended but the flight attendants always make sure I'm way at the back of the plane anyways.'
The Oops! I Did It Again singer remarked that it was 'too much' to alert the authorities about her conduct, saying, 'The flight attendant called officials because I smoked a cigarette. And embarrass me which jeez I thought was kinda much but she didn't like me the moment I got on the plane.'
On May 22, Spears made headlines for allegedly being seen drinking alcohol and smoking a cigarette while on a private plane to Los Angeles from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
International outlets reported that flight attendants allegedly asked the Toxic singer to put out the cigarette, which she did but when the plane landed, Spears was greeted by authorities, who issued her a warning about her conduct.
In November 2021, Spears was released from conservatorship after 13 years during which her father, Jaime, 'controlled her life and financial decisions.'
Nearly two years after she was freed from conservatorship, Spears published her best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me . Over the years, the pop singer faced controversies due to 'mental health'. – Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network

Park Sung-hoon says it was fun to film Squid Game & Queen Of Tears at same time

Hyun-ju (right) or Player 120 is a highly trained ex-Special Forces soldier. Photo: Handout Park Sung-hoon recalls that, for a while, he was viewed unfavourably by the public. That's because he had just come off playing two particularly unlikeable characters – first in The Glory (2022), then in Queen Of Tears (2024). In both dramas, the characters he played made life miserable for the leading ladies. 'I played two villains back-to-back, and whenever I went out to eat, some people would actually be mad at me for those roles,' the 40-year-old actor tells StarLifestyle with a laugh over Zoom. Fortunately, things began to change when the second season of Squid Game premiered at the end of 2024. In it, Park portrays Hyun-ju, also known as Player 120 – a highly trained ex-Special Forces soldier who was discharged after coming out as a trans woman. She enters the deadly competition to win the cash prize in order to foot her transition surgery. 'I'm really happy that I have played Hyun-Ju, who is such a cool character. She kind of turned everything around for me and made people like me,' says Park fondly of his character. 'Actually, I was shooting Squid Game and Queen Of Tears almost simultaneously, and it was really fun for me, going back and forth between two totally opposite characters,' he adds. Hyun-ju quickly became a fan-favourite thanks to her courage and always trying to do the right thing, even in dangerous situations. Park Sung-hoon says his character in 'Squid Game' is a cool person. Photo: Handout However, when the series premiered, there were criticisms about casting a male actor instead of a transgender actor for the role of Hyun-ju. Series creator-director Hwang Dong-hyuk told an American outlet that he did anticipate that this matter would crop up. 'In the beginning we were doing our research, and I was thinking of doing an authentic casting of a trans actor... When we researched in Korea, there are close to no actors that are openly trans,' he explained to Entertainment Weekly . Nonetheless, Hyun-ju stands out among the players in Squid Game especially in the scenes where she's interacting with Geum-ja (Player 149, played by Kang Ae-sim) and Jun-hee (Player 222, played by Jo Yu-ri). According to Park, the camaraderie among cast members helped strengthen their on-screen chemistry, even though they were always filming intense, emotionally charged scenes. 'We often talked about our performances, and about life in general. After wrapping for the day, we'd sometimes go for drinks just to relax and chat,' he says. 'I think the bond formed really naturally. Since most scenes were shot in chronological order, we didn't have to force the chemistry – it built up on its own, with emotions stacking scene by scene. 'So even though some scenes were emotionally draining, the connection made it all feel easier.' South Korean stars Kang Ae-sim (lef) and Park Sung-hoon bonded while making the show. Photo: AFP Next up for Park is a new drama opposite Han Ji-min, set to premiere in 2026, an entertainment portal reported. Only earlier this year, he was dropped from another K-drama, The Tyrant's Chef , after receiving backlash for uploading on social media an image of a porn video parodying Squid Game . Reflecting on the Squid Game experience, Park says: 'Over the past few months, I've been doing promotions overseas and met so many people – it's been fascinating to see how many of them already know me and welcome me so warmly. 'It still hasn't fully sunk in, especially since I look a bit different now with a new hairstyle, but people still recognise me instantly. 'It's been such a cool experience. And I really hope it opens up more opportunities for me to be part of global projects in the future.' Squid Game is available on Netflix.

Soccer-Tears and tributes as players honour Jota at Club World Cup

Jul 4, 2025; Orlando, Florida, USA; The Al Hilal FC and Fluminense FC teammates line up during a moment of silence in remembrance of Liverpool F.C. soccer star Diogo Jota and André Silva during a quarterfinal match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at Camping World Stadium. Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images ORLANDO, FLA (Reuters) -Al-Hilal's Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo broke down in tears during the minute's silence held for their former Portugal teammate Diogo Jota before their side's Club World Cup quarter-final against Fluminense on Friday. Jota, a Liverpool forward, and his younger brother Andre Silva were killed in a car accident in northwestern Spain on Thursday morning when their Lamborghini veered off the road and caught fire. Tributes have continued to pour in for Jota and Andre with footballing greats including Cristiano Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard, joining the Prime Ministers of Portugal and Britain in mourning the loss. Friday's match between Al-Hilal and Fluminense in Orlando began with players and fans observing a minute's silence in memory of Jota and Andre. Neves, one of Jota's closest friends who played with the 28-year-old during their days at Wolverhampton Wanderers, issued a touching tribute on Instagram about an hour before kick-off. "Wherever you are, I know you're going to read this, we've never been one for this sort of thing and maybe now I'll regret it a little, but you know what you mean to me just as much as I know what I am to you," Neves said. "More than a friendship, we're family, and we're not going to stop being family just because you've decided to sign a contract a little further away from us! "When I go to the national team, you'll still be by my side at the dinner table, on the bus, on the plane... you'll always be there with me, as usual. We'll keep laughing, making plans, sharing our lives with each other. "I'll make sure you're always there and I'll make sure your family never lacks anything while you're there, far away but thinking of us, waiting for us ... "As of today, you'll be on the pitch with me, and we'll follow our path together, on the stage where we met." Chelsea's Portuguese forward Pedro Neto also paid a heartfelt tribute to his friends when he walked out on the field with a shirt bearing their names before their quarter-final against Palmeiras in Philadephia. "We spoke with Pedro yesterday and this morning and this afternoon and it was completely Pedro's decision to play or not to play," Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said after his team's 2-1 win. "He did, he made a fantastic effort to play this game, to play with his teammates, and we really appreciate what he has done. "I just said to the players that this win is especially for him because we know how close he was, and the effort that he has made. So no doubt that we really appreciate what he decided in the end." The funerals of the brothers are expected to take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. local time (0800 GMT) in the Portuguese town of Gondomar.
