Older brother of Oasis duo charged with rape
Paul Gallagher, aged 59, who lives in East Finchley in north London, is also accused of coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The alleged offences are claimed to have taken place between 2022 and 2024, the Metropolitan Police said.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 27 August.
The charges against Gallagher, who is a year older than Noel and seven years older than Liam, were first reported by the Daily Telegraph.
Noel and Liam Gallagher, who shot to fame in the mid-1990s, have been performing to sell-out crowds for the first time as part of their Oasis Live '25 Tour, nearly nearly 16 years on from their split.
Paul Gallagher has never been part of Oasis.
Cate Baccas from the Crown Prosecution Service said: "We can confirm we have authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge Paul Gallagher with rape and other offences following a police investigation.
"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial."
She added that it is "extremely important" that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could "in any way prejudice these proceedings".

Man dies after 'falling from upper tier' at Oasis' Wembley Stadium concert
A man has died after falling from an upper tier of Wembley Stadium during an Oasis concert on Saturday night, police have confirmed. The man, who was aged in his 40s, is believed to have been sat in the upper tier of the 90,000-capacity London stadium when the tragic incident occurred shortly after 10pm. The Metropolitan Police said officers on duty at the stadium responded, alongside venue medics and the London Ambulance Service, at around 10.20pm but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A Met spokesperson said in a statement: "A man - aged in his 40s - was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. "The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage. "If you have any information that could help us to confirm what happened, please call 101." Another fan watched as the horror unfolded, with emergency services trying to revive the man after he hit the ground. They said: "I was directly underneath in section 211. At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see." It's expected that the police will inform the Health and Safety Executive which could see a probe into the death launched. Saturday's concert was another sold-out show for Oasis and their fourth at Wembley Stadium. The Britpop icons kick-started their Live '25 Tour in Cardiff in July before heading home to Manchester for five nights. Oasis are then due to perform two sold-out shows at Dublin's Croke Park on August 16 and 17. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
