KUALA LUMPUR: The acclaimed Malaysian band Midnight Fusic is gearing up for their highly anticipated debut solo concert, Midnight Fusic Forevermore 2025, at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on Sept 14.
Formed in 2013, the band has steadily cultivated a loyal fanbase both in Malaysia and internationally. Comprising Arif Kamarudin (vocals, guitar), Adrian Danial (vocals, guitar), Firdaus Azmi (bass), and Muaz Rabbani (drums), Midnight Fusic delivers a compelling blend of alternative rock and rich pop melodies.
Their music, characterised by catchy hooks, emotive vocals, and dynamic instrumentation, appeals to both rock enthusiasts and mainstream listeners alike.
Last year marked a significant surge in Midnight Fusic's momentum as they graced numerous live events, including Riuh, MLBB 8th Anniversary Music Party, YSL Beauty, Zus: Lokal Kasi Vocal, and Last Dinosaurs: Live in KL.
Expanding their reach beyond Malaysian borders, the band also performed in South Korea at the Incheon Record Platform 2024 and the Newtro Rhythm Global Music Tour 2024.
They have previously appeared at We The Fest in Indonesia and Baybeats in Singapore, and have opened for international acts such as Boys Like Girls and LANY during their concerts in Kuala Lumpur.
The band's vibrant musical journey was further amplified with the release of their latest EP, Modus Operandi, in May, following their self-titled debut album in February 2021.
Their 2020 single, 'Sandiwara', marked a pivotal moment as their first Malay-language track.
With all the preparations complete, Sept 14 is poised to be a momentous occasion.
The band, crowned Band of the Year at The Platform Awards 2020, is set to present their most significant show to date: their inaugural solo concert.
For Midnight Fusic, this concert represents a crucial opportunity to forge a deeper connection with their fans.
"We're bringing a brand-new setlist, a new song, and new visuals," shared Arif.
"The whole experience is something fresh. I'm genuinely excited to connect with our fans in this new way. "This show isn't just another gig; it's a new chapter for us. I'm looking forward to being together in a space with our fans where everyone can come together as one and share our journey."
He added, "We have curated the setlist to have a storyline. I'm excited to go through that journey of storytelling, of the band's past and showcasing the new stuff as well."

#SHOWBIZ: Celebrating Siti's three decades in the industry

BIDUANITA Negara Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin's recent 'Violet Skies: Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza Live In Arena Of Stars' concert was a spectacular showcase at Resorts World Genting's Arena of Stars, The performance, held in celebration of her 30-year journey in the Malaysian music industry, had drawn a crowd of more than 4,600 enthusiastic fans. It was more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane — it also offered a refreshing perspective on the beloved songstress through a mix of carefully curated song choices, imaginative musical arrangements, powerful vocal delivery, and engaging stage gimmicks. Adding to the excitement, 'Violet Skies' was held over two consecutive evenings, most likely to accommodate her huge following. One of the most memorable highlights of the night was the selection of songs rarely performed live, much to the delight of her loyal fanbase known as the SitiZoners. That evening, she performed 26 songs, with some as duets with guests performers like Noh Salleh and her little nephew Amad Dayyan. Those songs included 'Pendirianku', 'Beradu Di Khayalan', 'Sendiri', 'Tak Rela Berpisah Darimu', 'Cinta Tak Berganti', 'Bintang Malam', and 'Kita Kan Bersama'. Each number was presented with fresh musical arrangements, giving fans a completely new and exclusive concert experience, thanks to the concert's music director Aubrey Suwito, who had been collaborating with Siti for more than 60 concerts throughout her 30 years in the industry. Siti also revisited the classic 'Tak Boleh Lupa' from her landmark 1998 album Adiwarna — an album she described as deeply meaningful due to the many milestones and successes that stemmed from it. It was also during this era that she made her international mark by winning the Voice of Asia competition with the iconic 'Purnama Merindu'. "This album holds a special place in my heart because so many unforgettable memories and achievements came from it," she shared, to roaring cheers from the concert-goers during the first evening. Adding to the night's surprises, Siti announced she is currently working on a brand-new traditional music album, expected to be completed by the end of this year. "God-willing, the album will be ready by year's end and hopefully I can include songs from this album for a concert next year," she revealed to loud applause. The concert for next year, according to her, will be a performance especially dedicated to the traditional music genre. "After this, I will concentrate on wrapping up the album," she said. But before going back into the studio, Siti is due for another concert, to be held across the Causeway, as she is slated to perform at 'The Next Wave: Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza Live In Singapore' concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on July 26. Meanwhile, at the recent concert, among the standout vocal moments were the powerful rendition of 'Sendiri', when Siti demonstrated her mastery of the high-register technique, which is a true testament to her vocal prowess. Her popular tune 'Seindah Biasa' was given a playful, upbeat arrangement that brought a lively, joyful energy to the concert venue. One of the more theatrical moments came when Siti appeared on stage in a kimono while gracefully dancing to 'Kau Kekasihku', adding a visually engaging twist to the performance. Showcasing her genre versatility, she also delivered a medley of 1990s rock hits: BumiPutra Rockers' 1999 hit 'Seribu Tahun Takkan Mungkin', Fotograf's 1992 song 'Di Alam Fana Cintamu', and Medicine's 1999 track 'Tika Dan Saat Ini'. The evening was further enriched by a special duet segment with guest singer Noh. Together, they performed 'Rahsia Tuhan' and 'Pagi Yang Gelap', complete with a perfect musical chemistry between them. They also reprised 'Bengawan Solo', the Indonesian classic which they had performed together 15 years ago.A heartwarming moment came with the appearance of Amad, the young and talented son of Siti's sister, Siti Saerah. His presence added a personal and generational touch to the concert, hinting at the artistic legacy continuing within the family. Among the many local celebrities and fellow artistes in attendance showing their support were powerhouse vocalist Aina Abdul, actress Nadia Brian, and well-known social media influencers Mek Dinda and Leeyana Rahman. The concert atmosphere was further elevated by the visual theme of 'Violet Skies', with the stage adorned in hues of purple, white, and deep violet. Many fans enthusiastically embraced the theme, turning up in purple-themed attire, which added vibrancy and unity to the night's celebration. Siti herself captivated the audience not only with her voice, but also her presence, donning three stunning custom-made outfits from local designers Ezuwan Ismail, Ashraff Zainal, and Samm Republic. In addition to performing her classic hits, the concert also served as the launch platform for two of her latest singles: 'Sesal', a song which was also featured in the movie 'Telaga Suriram'; and 'Sejarah' which was especially composed for her by Indonesia's Erwin Gutawa, which was a heartfelt tribute to Siti's inspiring, colourful journey in the music world. As a celebrated Biduanita Negara, Siti has once again proved why she remains a revered, relevant, and irreplaceable icon in Malaysian entertainment, beloved across generations and ever evolving in her artistry.

#SHOWBIZ: HK-based actress Angie Cheong tearfully reflects on hardship of being a single mum

HONG KONG: When Malaysian actress Angie Cheong, based in Hong Kong, adopted her son Hanson in 2006, he was just two years old and she was fully aware he suffered from congenital heart disease. That, however, didn't deter her from standing by him through every challenge. She even put her acting career on hold in 2018 to care for Hanson as he underwent heart surgery. In a recent video shared on Xiaohongshu, Cheong opened up about the struggles of being a single mother, admitting it's an incredibly demanding responsibility. "They say single mums are strong, but no one realises that behind that strength is really just putting on a brave face," the 54-year-old explained. The actress, who was crowned Miss Chinese Malaysia in 1992, then broke down in tears as she reflected on the past 19 years of hardship. She confessed that, given the choice, she wouldn't want to bear the burden alone. "I have to earn money, help with homework, be a driver, a nanny, and a nurse," she said. "If given a choice, who would want to shoulder everything alone? I'm afraid of not providing enough for my child and often feel guilty for not spending enough time with him," she added. Cheong shared that she had once taught her son that true courage lies in admitting one's vulnerability. "It hasn't been easy for Mum to raise you," she said as she embraced him.

DOLLA To Perform As Guest Artist For NMIXX's Upcoming KL Concert

Earlier this month, it was announced that K-pop girl group NMIXX (엔믹스) will be coming to Malaysia this August. Ticket sales are set to go live tomorrow (Wednesday, 16th July) at 12pm, and we're confident fans have already set their reminders to secure their seats online. To make the upcoming show even more exciting, it's been revealed that a certain Malaysian girl group will be sharing the stage with the K-pop idols. As you may have already guessed, it's none other than DOLLA! Yesterday (Monday, 14th July), LOL Asia announced that our very own DOLLA will be the special guest artist for the upcoming NMIXX: K-Wave Super Concert. 'What's a 'Super Concert' without another Bo$$ Up girl group? That's right, DOLLA is officially joining the K-Wave Super Concert stage as the Featured Act! Our very own Malaysian queens are ready to light up the stage alongside @nmixx_official & it's going to be a night of charisma, vocals & full-on girl energy!,' the caption reads. This isn't the first time the local girl group has been invited as a guest act at a K-pop concert. The girls previously shared the stage with Jay Park during his 'Serenades & Body Rolls' tour in Kuala Lumpur. The trio and the singer performed 'MOMMAE' together and even took part in the 'MWA' dance challenge backstage. Member Angel expressed her excitement about the upcoming concert with NMIXX on Twitter, saying, 'Yay!! Such an honour to share a stage with NMIXX !! can't wait to see you all 🥰'. Since the announcement, fans have continued to show their support for DOLLA, celebrating the group's growing success and rising fame. While we're certain they'll perform some of their biggest hits, we're also hoping to see them join NMIXX for a song during the concert — or perhaps even a 'K-pop Demon Hunters' cover together? There's no telling what might happen, but while we wait for the big day, check out DOLLA's dance cover of 'Golden' from the Netflix animated film: Sources: Twitter (1)(2)
