Trevor Rogers, Jackson Holliday lift Orioles over skidding Braves
It was the third straight win for the Orioles, who swept a series against Atlanta for the first time since 2015 and in Atlanta for the first time since 1999. It was Baltimore's fourth sweep of the season.
The Braves have lost four in a row and dropped nine of their last 11. Atlanta fell to 11 games under .500.
Rogers (2-0), who entered the game with a 0-7 career record against the Braves, allowed only four hits and two walks and struck out a season-high six. It was the third scoreless stint in five starts for Rogers, who lowered his ERA to 1.57.
Baltimore reliever Seranthony Dominguez allowed a solo homer to Sean Murphy, his 13th, and a single to Ozzie Albies with one out in the ninth inning. Dominguez fanned Drake Baldwin and retired Michael Harris II on a grounder to earn his second save.
Holliday went 4-for-4, the second four-hit game of his career, with a double and a home run. He supplied all the offense via a two-run homer in the third inning that just cleared the 16-foot brick wall in right field. It was his 11th of the season.
Atlanta starter Grant Holmes (4-8) pitched six innings and allowed two runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Holmes was helped by the Braves' defense, which turned three double plays behind him.
The Orioles placed Gary Sanchez on the injured list with a right knee strain, giving the team four catchers on the IL. They acquired Alex Jackson from the New York Yankees to serve as the backup. Jackson was batting .226 with 10 homers in 44 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Orioles went 4-2 on their road trip and return home to start a three-game series against the New York Mets on Tuesday. The Braves went 2-7 on their homestand and begin a three-game series against the host Athletics on Tuesday.

Two-time champ Pete Alonso, Kyle Schwarber decline HR Derby invites
July 7 - Two-time champion Pete Alonso of the New York Mets said Sunday that he will not be participating in the Home Run Derby this year in Atlanta. Alonso won the popular event that is held one day before the All-Star Game in 2019 and 2021. He had been a participant in each of the last five times the event was held. "I just decided not to do it this year," Alonso told reporters on Sunday of the July 14 event. "I have never really fully enjoyed the three off-days, so I just want to be in the best possible position to help this team win in the second half. "I'm in a groove with certain things. I definitely will do it again. It doesn't mean no forever. Alonso was chosen to play in the All-Star Game for the fifth time. He is batting .287 with 20 homers and 73 RBIs in 91 games. Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber also said Sunday that he won't be part of the derby. He participated in 2018 and 2022. It's a good bet Schwarber will strongly consider being part of the competition next year when the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby are held in Philadelphia. "I'm not going to do the Home Run Derby," Schwarber said Sunday of the 2025 event. "Maybe see what happens next year." Schwarber was named to the All-Star team for the third time in his career on Sunday. He is batting .251 with 27 homers and 63 RBIs in 90 games. Other players expected to pass on the event are Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers. There are just three confirmed participants with the Home Run Derby being held a week from Monday -- Seattle Mariners star Cal Raleigh (35 homers), emerging Washington Nationals slugger James Wood (23) and Atlanta Braves standout Ronald Acuna Jr., who has nine homers in 40 games since missing nearly 12 months due to an ACL injury. --Field Level Media

Angel Reese makes WNBA history despite Chicago Sky's latest defeat
WNBA star Angel Reese has become known for her dominance in the paint and, on Sunday, wrote herself into the record books for that exact reason. Reese took to the court for the Chicago Sky's game against the Minnesota Lynx but was unable to prevent an 80-75 loss to kick-start their four-game road trip. The defeat saw the Sky's record drop to 5-12 in the 2025 season despite the best efforts of Reese, 23, who scored 16 points in 37 minutes. Reese also produced an impressive 17 rebounds in the game and, by doing so, broke WNBA records. The Sky star became the first player in league history to get 15 or more rebounds in five straight games. She also did so against Atlanta Dream, Golden State Valkyries and twice against the Los Angeles Sparks. In three out of those five games, Reese managed to produce more rebounds that points - proving her dominance inside the paint. Reese has now recorded 15 or more rebounds in her last five consecutive games Last month, Reese filed to trademark the term 'Mebounds' - term stemming from her habit of missing layups and snagging the offensive rebound. However, almost immediately after doing so, it appeared as though Reese's trademark filing had severely backfired after she struggled for the Sky. During the Sky's devastating 107-86 loss to the Phoenix Mercury at the back end of June, Reese managed just nine points, two assists and a mere two rebounds. The forward's meagre tally marked a career-low in rebounds for the LSU product. However, Reese has evidently put that evening behind her and has rediscovered her best form for the Sky. Her displays on the court has seen Reese be named in her second All-Star Game but only as a reserve - after failing to receive enough votes to be a starter. Only time will tell as to which All-Star captain - either Caitlin Clark or Napheesa Collier - will select Reese for the highly-anticipated game. In May, Reese had to be restrained after Clark knocked her down and caused her to spill the ball moments after she grabbed an offensive rebound near the end of the third quarter. Reese then walked to the side of the court where a Sky official stepped in front of her to try and get her to cool her temper.
