"An additional budget exceeding Rs 6,000 crore has been earmarked for projects operating under the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA)," they said.
Sources said that this significant investment by the Yogi government will not only accelerate the pace of urban development, but also directly contribute to improving the 'ease of living' for residents through the successful implementation of these diverse initiatives.

"Rs 4,100 crore will be spent on the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, which will focus on sewerage, drinking water, green spaces (parks) and revival of water bodies," they said.
Sources said that under the 15th Finance Commission, this fund will also be used for improving air quality (AQI), solid waste management (SWM), cleanliness, water conservation, water supply and management reforms. "These cleanliness-related efforts by the government will not only help in building a cleaner UP but will also raise public awareness about sanitation," they said.
Sources said that a total budget of Rs 6,659 crore has been allocated for the State Urban Development Authority (SUDA), out of which Rs 6,066 crore will be spent on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. German FM condemns threats against IAEA chief Rafael Grossi in Iran

Tehran/Berlin, June 29 (UNI) German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has condemned threats by Iranian officials against International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi and his team, amid increased resentment against him and the IAEA in the country, reports Iran International. "Threats against them from within Iran are deeply troubling and must stop...I call on the Iranian authorities to fully cooperate with the IAEA and to ensure the safety of its personnel," he said in a post on X. He urged Tehran to ensure their safety and fully cooperate with the UN watchdog. The Islamic Republic last week passed a bill in its Parliament suspending cooperation with IAEA, calling the nuclear watchdog a political and non-neutral entity, accusing it of biased reports and being completely anti-Iran rather than an objective party with no side or political affiliations. Resentment against the IAEA has only increased since the ceasefire, especially against Grossi, whom Iranian lawmakers have accused of aiding Israeli attacks on its nuclear infrastructure. Abolfazl Zohrevand, a member of the country's National Security Committee, accused Grossi of aiding US and Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear sites and the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists. 'The role of Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in inciting and aiding US and Israeli attacks on nuclear sites and the assassination of nuclear scientists is completely clear,' he said. 'Grossi has shown that he is unfit to hold this position and should be dealt with.'

Shah inaugurates National Turmeric Board in Telangana

Nizamabad (Telangana), June 29 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad district of Telangana on Sunday, marking a significant step towards supporting turmeric farmers and boosting exports. On the occasion, he also unveiled the official logo of the board, symbolising a new era of agricultural innovation and global competitiveness for turmeric cultivation in India. Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to the welfare of turmeric farmers, noting that Nizamabad is regarded as the turmeric capital of the country. 'I feel fortunate to inaugurate the Turmeric Board, which became a reality thanks to the persistent efforts of BJP MPs. Not only was the board granted to Telangana, but a Telangana native has also been appointed as its chairman,' he said. Shah highlighted turmeric's global significance, calling it a 'divine medicine' with anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-cancer properties. 'Our target is to achieve USD 1 billion in turmeric exports by 2030. Through this board, we will train farmers in modern cultivation techniques and work to improve their incomes through initiatives like the Bharati Cooperative Society,' he added. Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and MP Dharmapuri Arvind for sanctioning the National Turmeric Board for Nizamabad, a region known for its large-scale turmeric cultivation. Several dignitaries attended the event, including Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay, Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Nizamabad district in-charge Minister Seethakka, National Turmeric Board Chairman Palle Gangareddy, Secretary Bhavani Sri, MP Dharmapuri Arvind, Dr. Laxman, and Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the National Turmeric Board will work to ensure that farmers receive maximum value for their turmeric, promote its consumption in international markets, and highlight the medicinal properties of Indian turmeric globally. The board will focus on meeting global quality and safety standards, facilitate suitable packaging, and provide training and skill development to farmers, especially in harvesting methods that avoid export-related issues. Shah added that research and development will be undertaken to scientifically showcase the health benefits of turmeric to the world. He noted that Nizamabad, Jagtial, Nirmal, and Kamareddy districts in Telangana are among India's top turmeric-producing regions. In 2025, turmeric farmers received Rs 18,000 to Rs 19,000 per quintal, and efforts are being made to help them earn an additional Rs 6,000–Rs 7,000 per quintal over the next three years. Shah also highlighted that during 2023- 24, turmeric was cultivated on 3 lakh hectares of land across India, producing 10.74 lakh tonnes. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established the National Cooperative Exports Limited to benefit farmers involved in exports and the National Cooperative Organics Limited for those practising organic farming. Emphasising the government's commitment to promises, Shah remarked that 'Prime Minister Modi has nurtured a culture of fulfilling promises, and the promise made in 2023 has been fulfilled today.' BMC extends deadline for waste bioremediation at Deonar for a third time

For the third time, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has extended its deadline for the Rs 2,368 crore tender to appoint a contractor to carry out bioremediation of 185 lakh tonnes of waste and reclaim 110 hectare of land at the Deonar dumpsite over a period of three years. Bioremediation is a process involving treating garbage with the help of natural elements like air, sunlight, and microorganisms. Over time, as the biodegradable waste decomposes, the remaining non-biodegradable extracts are either recycled or treated artificially. The process of bioremediation is proposed at the Deonar dumpsite, which is among one of the sites that have been selected by the state government for constructing housing tenements for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) – a venture steered by the Adani group and Maharashtra government's Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA). Earlier on May 14, the civic body had floated a tender inviting bidders to clear the Deonar dumpsite through bioremediation with a deadline of June 3, which was later extended to June 23 and further, revised to July 1. On Saturday, for the third time in a month, the BMC has again extended the deadline for the bidders to July 4. In the revised corrigendum, the civic body has revised the conditions, permitting a price escalation of five percent after 2 years. According to officials, the deadline has been revised owing to extension requested by bidders amid several concerns. For the record, at least 23 bidders had come forward and expressed interest during a pre-bid meeting convened earlier. 'Primarily, there are two major concerns which have been raised by the bidders. Firstly, the concerns pertain to the price as there was no provision for price escalation in the initial tender clause. Furthermore, many interested bidders had requested allocation of more time to collect and submit the documents. Another reason is the unique nature of the work stipulated in the tender, wherein nearly 2 crore metric tonnes of legacy waste has to be cleared over a period of three years,' said a civic official. 'This is our final corrigendum, following which no other extensions will be granted.' According to the civic data, of the 1.85 crore metric tonnes of waste which is currently stacked at the dumpsite, nearly 48 percent comprises construction debris, 41 percent is inert waste while 10 percent is accounted for by dry, miscellaneous waste.
