IPL set to resume as discussions restart after ceasefire: reports
Rajeev Shukla, vice-president of the BCCI, told Indian media that officials would meet on Sunday to decide the future course of action.
Saikia added they will "take a call on IPL resumption after consulting all stakeholders of IPL and the concerned government authorities."
Nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan called a halt to hostilities on Saturday and Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI ) secretary Devajit Saikia told website cricbuzz they were "closely monitoring the evolving situation."
India cricket board officials were reported to be meeting Sunday to discuss a quick resumption of the IPL , following India and Pakistan agreeing a ceasefire in their deadly border conflict.
IPL Suspended Amid Rising Tensions Between India and Pakistan
The Indian Premier League was on Friday suspended for a week, a day after a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capital was abandoned in Dharamsala, less than 200 kilometres (125 miles) from the northern city of Jammu, where explosions were reported hours earlier.
A special train was arranged for players to return to Delhi on Friday as airspace was closed, while overseas stars began to head home on Saturday.
Teams on Sunday were reported to be contacting their overseas players and coaching staff about returning, with website ESPNcricinfo saying the IPL could restart around May 15 if given the go-ahead by the government.
There are 12 regular season games remaining to be played followed by three playoff matches and the final, originally scheduled for May 25.
India and Pakistan have fought two of their three full-scale wars over Kashmir, a disputed territory that both claim in full but administer separate portions of since gaining independence from British rule in 1947.
New Delhi launched missile strikes on Wednesday morning in retaliation for a deadly attack on tourists in Indian-run Kashmir two weeks ago that India blames on Pakistan.
Islamabad has denied any involvement.
At least 60 people have been killed on both sides of the border since Wednesday, in the worst violence in decades between the South Asian neighbours.

Smith and Brook tons lead England revival against India in second Test
EDGBASTON - Jamie Smith made the highest Test score by an England wicketkeeper of 184 not out and Harry Brook added a large century of his own as the pair shared a stand of over 300 runs against India at Edgbaston on Friday. England were in dire straits at 84-5, more than 500 runs behind, when the duo came together early on the third day of the second Test after Mohammed Siraj had dismissed Joe Root and captain Ben Stokes with successive deliveries. But they went on to add 303 runs before Brook fell for 158, with England just one run shy of the follow-on. And by the time England were dismissed for 407, Smith had surpassed Surrey mentor Alec Stewart's previous highest Test score by an England wicketkeeper of 173 against New Zealand at Auckland in 1997. The second new ball, as the first one had done, however, proved England's undoing, with Siraj (6-70) and the recalled Akash Deep (4-88) sharing all 10 wickets in an England innings featuring six ducks. India, looking to level the series after last week's five-wicket loss in the first Test at Headingley, still led by 180 runs on first innings after making a total of 587 built on captain Shubman Gill's superb 269. Smith came in on a hat-trick but the 24-year-old signalled his intentions from his first ball by off-driving Siraj for four. It was the start of a blistering 80-ball hundred that included 14 fours and three sixes as Smith joined a select group of batsmen to have made 100 runs before lunch in a session of Test cricket. Oldest surviving Tour de France yellow jersey wearer Marinelli dies at 99
PARIS - French cyclist Jacques Marinelli, the oldest surviving holder of the Tour de France yellow jersey, has died aged 99. On the eve of the start of the 112th Tour de France in Lille, race director Christian Prudhomme on Friday paid tribute to a rider, nicknamed "the parakeet", who was one of the legends of the race. "I can still hear my father talking about the Parakeet. He was the oldest of the Tour de France's yellow jerseys. A part of the Tour de France's history is going with him," Prudhomme told AFP. Aged 23, during the 1949 Tour dominated by cycling greats Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali, Marinelli took the yellow jersey on the fourth stage in Rouen which he wore for six days until the Pyrenees. "I was in good shape, that's all I knew. But I didn't even dream of the yellow jersey," he recalled during an interview with AFP in 2019. Jota, aged 28, and his brother tragically lost their lives in the crash, a devastating event that sent shockwaves through the football community. Michael Owen, currently serving as a Sunbet Ambassador, shared his heartfelt remarks during a media briefing at Sibaya Casino in Durban, just ahead of the highly anticipated Durban July horse racing event. "I think I heard the news yesterday while I was up in the sky flying over to Durban. It's just the most tragic, most awful bit of news that you can have really. My first thoughts are with the family," Owen said. "Diogo's mum has lost her two sons. Diogo himself was only married about two weeks. He leaves behind a wife and three young children.
