Redpin opens property payments platform in Spain

Finextra15 hours ago
Redpin, the global property payments platform backed by a £140 million Blackstone investment, has unveiled Redpin Payments, the first solution built from the ground up to bring security and certainty to international real estate transactions.
0
Redpin Payments gives Spanish real estate professionals complete control over all transactions through one online dashboard while protecting client funds with bank-level security. The platform eliminates hours of bank related tasks per transaction, reduces completion day scrambles, and protects against the email-based fraud that threatens 4 out of 5 Spanish property professionals.
Redpin was formed in 2023 following Blackstone's investment in two award-winning FX companies, Currencies Direct and TorFX. Together, these companies have served more than 925,000 customers, process more than £10 billion of payments annually, and maintain an average Trustpilot score of 4.9 - reflecting 25 years of trusted service that forms the foundation for Redpin's platform vision.
Redpin Payments is the first-of-its-kind digital platform dedicated to property payments, designed to mitigate fraud and bring the simplicity and security of modern digital wallets to the previously analogue, high-risk process of purchasing a home abroad.
It is launching first in Spain, where many property purchases are still handled manually and one in five involve international buyers. The platform will roll out to additional markets later this year.
A £3.5tn trillion opportunity
Cross-border residential property transactions represent a £3.5 trillion annual market globally, according to Redpin's analysis.
Spain remains a popular destination for foreign buyers, with its top five regions including Valencia, Andalusia, Catalonia, the Canary Islands and Murcia. Spain's international property market represents both a significant opportunity and risk: foreign buyers purchased more than 125,000 homes in 2024, spending approximately €26 billion, according to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística and CaixaBank.
However, Spanish Ministry of Interior data shows international buyers are 32% more likely to be targeted for cybercrime, with real estate fraud attempts increasing 43% during peak foreign buying seasons.
Wire fraud and online scams are growing in prevalence and disproportionately affect older customers, who are more likely to be buyers of properties in popular Spanish retirement locations. Many European jurisdictions still operate under legacy regulatory regimes for property transactions, often requiring physical paperwork, wet signatures, and face-to-face identity verification. Europol's 2023 report on cyber-enabled fraud also highlighted an increase in social engineering tactics, including fraudulent payment instruction scams, phishing, and identity theft that specifically exploit the slow and fragmented nature of international property payments.
Redpin Payments enables Spanish solicitors to reclaim hours from each transaction while providing enhanced security and cost savings to their clients. By eliminating bank visits for OMF transfers and banker's drafts, and streamlining completion day processes, solicitors can focus on high-value legal expertise and personalised client relationships rather than administrative payment tasks.
Nathan Gill, chief product officer of Redpin, commented:
"Spanish solicitors excel at navigating legal complexities and building client relationships - that's their competitive advantage. Redpin Payments handles the payment administration and security concerns, so they can focus on what generates the most value for their clients and their practices. When solicitors have complete control over the payment process without the administrative burden, their clients receive better service and greater peace of mind.
"International clients expect the same level of security and transparency in property transactions that they experience in other major financial decisions. Unfortunately, traditional banking processes for international property payments haven't kept pace with these expectations or the growing cybersecurity threats.
"We've built Redpin Payments in partnership with Spanish real estate professionals who understand the daily realities of managing international transactions. Rather than forcing solicitors to abandon proven workflows, we've created a platform that enhances their existing systems and processes.
"Everybody wants to cut risk and maximise the time they can spend developing their businesses, and we look forward to rolling out our first product in our territories over the coming months.'
Redpin Payments - product features
• Instant payment capabilities that eliminate banker's draft fees and Order of Movement of Funds (OMF) transfer costs, saving clients thousands of euros per transaction
• A centralised transaction dashboard allowing solicitors to control all buyer and seller payments without handling client funds directly, reducing reconciliation work and audit risk
• Total transaction security - from Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance to final settlement - ensuring full regulatory alignment and fraud mitigation
• Multi-factor authentication and secure client communication channels that eliminate the need to share banking details via email - the primary entry point for real estate cybercriminals
• Comprehensive international payment infrastructure supporting 1,800 currency pairs across 135 territories, backed by 25 years of FX expertise
• Support and integration capabilities designed to work alongside existing legal practice management systems rather than replacing proven workflows

Apple Watch series 10 reduced to its lowest-ever price in Amazon Prime Day sale

At long last, Amazon Prime Day 2025 has arrived, and the online giant is busy slashing prices on everything from tech to beauty, including all of Apple's gear. But while there are hefty discounts on AirPods and iPads, it's this deal on the Apple Watch series 10 that's caught my eye. Launched last September, Apple's flagship smartwatch has been slashed by an enormous £104 for Prime Day. I've been tracking the price of the Apple Watch series 10 since it launched, and this is the wearable's first-ever price cut, taking it down to almost £300 for the first time. The sale is exclusive to Prime members and, unlike previous years, it's lasting four days instead of two, so you've got plenty of time to shop. So far, I've spotted big savings on laptops, TVs, air fryers, vacuums and more, but if it's the Apple Watch deal you're here for, here's what you need to know. Apple's latest and greatest Apple Watch series 10 smartwatch is the company's best yet. Boasting an all-new design with a larger display, new health features, sleep apnoea detection and faster charging, it's been slashed to just £325 for Amazon Prime Day. Almost as large as the display on the Apple Watch Ultra, you can see and do more than on any Apple Watch that has come before it. 'While at first glance it looks similar to the series 9, the bigger display, thinner profile and handsome new colours make the Series 10 a lot more appealing,' tech critic David Phelan said in his review. 'The features that have defined the Apple Watch, from subtle notifications, brilliant mapping capabilities on your wrist and above all, great health features, are all at their best here,' he added.

Best air fryer deals in the Amazon Prime Day 2025 sale

The best air fryer deals in Amazon Prime Day have officially landed, and it's here in my dedicated shopping guide that you'll find the top tried-and-tested picks for less. A good air fryer starts at around the £60 mark, but some of the best models can cost upwards of £200, which is why a sales event is the perfect time to make a saving. Whether you need a compact model for couples cooking or a dual-drawer appliance for big family meals, there are plenty of bargains on offer. Right now, you can save more than 30 per cent on Ninja's double stack XL air fryer (was £269.99, now £184.99, which received high praise when appliance expert Katie Gregory put it to the test. If you're looking for something smaller, you won't want to miss out on the discount on Salter's compact air fryer (was £34.99, now £29.49, which is perfect for solo dwellers. If neither of those super savings takes your fancy, I'm on hand throughout the sale event to bring you the best air fryer offers from trusted brands. Keep scrolling for the top offers. The IndyBest team have been testing the top air fryer models since 2019, comparing Ninja models to budget buys, proving we know how to spot easy-to-clean models, a multi-functional buy and a great bargain. The team and I also track the price of air fryers year-round so that we can spot a good deal from a bad one, which is crucial for Amazon Prime Day. We would only ever recommend models we've tried and tested or that come from brands and retailers we trust. Ninja has plenty of impressive air fryers to choose from, but if you're short on countertop space and don't want another appliance taking up room, the double stack XL is an excellent choice. It has a chunky 31 per cent off in the Prime Day sale, bringing it to £185. Flipping the typical dual drawer air fryer on its head, quite literally, to make the most of the vertical space in your kitchen, this slimline design was a big hit with our reviewer. They praised its 'sync function, which lets you cook two different things at different temperatures and durations', as well as its size that's 'slimmer than some single-drawer air fryers'. Tower has followed in the footsteps of Ninja with its own double stacked air fryer. It's made up of two 5.5l baskets, with plenty of space to cook family-sized meals, and pre-set cooking functions that include fries, wings, steak, veg, bake and DIY. You can get it for close to £100 in the Prime Day sale, which is significantly cheaper than Ninja's double stacked offering. The price of this Tefal easy-fry dual-zone digital air-fryer has been slashed by a huge 44 per cent. This is the cheapest we've seen the air fryer drop on Amazon. With two drawers, you can cook two items at once, in the same way, or on different settings at the same time. Our tester, Katie, reviewed the XXL version and praised its 'easy-to-use controls, the dishwasher-safe baskets and trays, and the family-sized proportions'. We've spotted another Ninja air fryer deal and this time it's on the foodi max dual zone air fryer. The two-drawer air fryer has six cooking functions and a spacious 9.5l capacity. Our reviewer was impressed that the six-in-one appliance 'has every cooking setting you could possibly need' and liked that it 'takes the guesswork out of timing and temperature'. Right now, it has 35 per cent off in the Prime Day sale and you won't find it much cheaper than this. Rusell Hobbs' cooking appliances frequently make it into our round-up of the best air fryers, so we were pleased to spot one at more than half price in the Prime Day sale. This model has a single 8l drawer, 10 cooking functions and even an audible shake reminder for the foods that need it. If you're looking for a no-frills air fryer for less than £100, we think you can't go too wrong with this deal. This dual air fryer has a huge, single 10.4l drawer, which can be split in half to separately cook both components of your meal, such as salmon and vegetables. Our reviewer was impressed with its versatility and wrote: 'If you want an air fryer that can do it all, this is it'. It's been reduced by £80 in the Prime Day sale, which is an even bigger discount than we saw back in March during Amazon's Spring Sale. Considering air fryers can set you back hundreds of pounds, this deal on a model from IndyBest's tried and tested brand, Salter, is seriously impressive. Now less than £30, the compact 2l model is perhaps best suited to solo dwellers. While it doesn't come with all the bells and whistles of some other devices, it does have an auto-shutoff function, a timer that can be set up to 30 minutes, and a temperature dial. Cosori's multi-purpose air fryer is discounted by 30 per cent. The brand comes approved by IndyBest, with one of its other models landing a spot in our review of the best air fryers (you can check out our review of the dual blaze twinfry air fryer here), so we're fairly confident this won't be a dud. It's suitable for families as it's big enough to cook up to four portions of food, and it can also defrost, reheat and more. Looking for an air fryer that does more than just fry? Look no further. The Ninja Speedi has 10 functions, including air fry, steam, grill, bake, roast, sear, slow cook and more. Whatever you need to cook, it'll help you feed your family in minutes - in fact, Ninja says the Speedi can cook a three-part meal for four in fifteen minutes. In last year's Prime Day sale, we saw it drop by £130, but this is still a decent 39 per cent saving. If you're running short on kitchen counter space, this compact 4l Zwilling air fryer is worth a look. Chips came out 'perfectly crispy', according to our tester, Rachael, while the temperature accuracy was spot on. Amazon has slashed the price of this air fryer by 20 per cent – it's not the cheapest it's ever been, but it is still a fair saving. An air fryer with a difference, the crispi comes with glass bowls so you can keep a close eye on your food as it cooks, and now it has 31 per cent off on Amazon. Our reviewer, Alex, called it a 'game changer' and praised the 'modular design' that 'makes it easier to store, clean and maybe even upgrade in the future if Ninja releases bigger bowls'. We're hoping for even further discounts to this innovative air fryer when Prime Day deals drop next week. When is Amazon Prime Day 2025? Amazon Prime Day is set to return on Tuesday 8 July, and will last four days until Friday 11 July. Last year, the sale took place over two days, but this year, you'll have even longer to shop the best offers. What is Amazon Prime Day? Prime Day is one of Amazon's biggest sales events of the year. Prime members can expect member-exclusive discounts on tech such as laptops and TVs, as well as beauty, mattresses and of course, air fryers. In previous years, we've also seen discounts on top brands across product categories, including Ninja, Apple and Elemis. Do you need to be a Prime member? Yes, you'll need to be a Prime member to make the most of the discounts. A Prime membership costs £8.99 a month, or £95 if you pay annually. Students and young people (from 18 to 22 years old) can benefit from a 50 per cent discount. Perks include unlimited one-day delivery, access to Prime Video and the chance to shop member-exclusive deals. If you're yet to sign up for a Prime membership, you can register for a 30-day free trial just before the sale starts. This will give you access to the limited-time discounts, and you can cancel for free before the membership fee kicks in. Keep in mind, the free trial is only for new Prime customers or for those who haven't been a member in the last 12 months.

EXCLUSIVE Diogo Jota's legacy to his family: The amount set to be inherited by tragic Liverpool star's wife and their three small children after his car crash death

Tragic footballer Diogo Jota 's widow could stand to inherit up to £35million from his estate for the financial security of her and their three children, MailOnline can reveal. The Liverpool star, 28, who died alongside his brother Andre, 25, in a crash last week in Spain, has been signed with Premier League clubs since 2018 - and amassed a fortune in that time. Jota first signed a contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018 which saw him earn £38,000 a week. Two years of these wages saw him earn £3,952,000 before he hit the big time with a move to Anfield, where the first two years of his four year contract at £83,000 per week saw him pocket another £8,632,000. As a result of his phenomenal talent, Liverpool then extended the deal for five years in 2022 and upped his wages to £140,000 in a contract that saw him earn £21,840,000 before his tragic death. Built into this was performance bonuses, and his 65 goals in 182 games contributed to his wealth. However, he was also an Esports entrepreneur and global brand ambassador. Jota was due to receive another £14.5million for the remaining two years of his contract, which despite reports in Portuguese media suggesting Liverpool will honour, has not yet been confirmed. It means Jota's total earnings of around £34.4million since arriving in the Premier League could be inherited by Rute and their two sons Dinis, four, Duarte, two, and their eight-month-old baby daughter Mafalda. It is not known how much of this money he had spent, but a chunk of it had been invested in a five-bedroom, four-bathroom house in the upmarket north Liverpool suburb of Blundellsands. According to publicly available land registry documents, Jota and his wife bought the house in May 2022 for £2,125,000, where they rubbed shoulders with other players. The house had been listed for three years before selling and had been previously rented out. A brochure of the house available online shows an ornately tiled marble entrance hall leading to a reception area with a brass and wrought iron staircase. The ground floor living area has Georgian style double doors, underfloor heating and a Bose sound system. In the kitchen there are two sink units and a five hob Gaggenau cooker, wine chiller and fitted walnut units with granite work surfaces. The indoor pool is 39ft long and there is also a jacuzzi and steam room, while the games room has a snooker table and a pool table. Also on the ground floor is an eight-seat home cinema room with a surround sound system. Companies House records in the UK also show that Jota set up an image rights company called Minute J Ltd in February 2023 to channel some of his football earnings and his father Joaquim was also associated with it. The first set of accounts filed in December 2024 cover the period the initial first 12 months of the company and show it made £186,754 but owed creditors £49,786, with the bulk of £44,825 to HMRC for Corporation Tax. Football players often set up image rights companies as a way to control earnings from things like name, nickname, squad number which might be used in sponsorship, merchandising and endorsements. Besides his earnings from football Jota also had lucrative deals with Nike and EA Sports bringing in an estimated £3.3million a year and he set up his own Esports team called Luna Galaxy. According to Portuguese media, Jota also had a collection of luxury cars worth more than £1million including a Range Rover Sport, Porsche 911 Turbo S, a Ferrari 488, an Audi Q7 and a Mercedes-Benz G63AMG. Website, The Richest, in a detailed profile of Jota's financial worth, said: 'He left behind a financial legacy few soccer players achieve so young. 'His business smart matched his on-field vision, he left behind a blueprint for how athletes can build wealthy and legacy beyond the pitch.' Jota's tragic death came just 13 days after he wedded Rute, his teenage sweetheart. At the ceremony he declared himself as the luckiest man in the world to be her husband and a series of emotional images and videos were posted to social media of their special day. Many who were there on what Rute described as that 'dream come true' wedding day then had to devastatingly fly in for Jota and his brother's funeral just over two weeks later. Family and friends, including footballers, came from all corners of the globe to the 17th-century Igreja Matriz church. It was there that they heard the Bishop of Porto, D. Manuel Linda, send a message to the couple's three children. The bishop said: 'At this moment you are suffering immensely or perhaps not because you do not realise it. The ones who suffer a lot are your mother and your grandparents. 'Seeing the mortal remains of a child must be a greater torment, but when there are two urns there are no words... 'If it is difficult to see an adult cry, it is even more difficult to see a child cry. I send you a special greeting for your mother and grandparents.' Both coffins were carried through the front doors of the church to the sound of violins and applause in a procession led by two priests at 10am. Jota's Liverpool team-mates flew in overnight. They included Virgil van Dijk, the club's captain, and Andrew Robertson, who carried red wreaths in the shape of football shirts emblazoned with Jota's number 20 and his brother's number 30. Former Liverpool players, including Jordan Henderson and James Milner, were also present. Jota and his brother were 190 miles into a trip from Porto to Santander, where he planned to take a ferry to England, when they crashed in the Spanish province of Zamora. Their bodies were buried, not cremated, in a graveyard screened by olive trees. Jota's team-mates from his former club Wolves, including Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio, joined club officials to pay their respects. They were spotted escorting a Wolves-themed wreath which read: 'Diogo your desire to fight and win lit up Molineux.' Speaking after the service, Roberto Martinez, the Portugal manager, was emotional as he told of his sadness over the tragedy. He said: 'I can only say that these are very, very sad days. Today was a demonstration for Diogo and Andre that we are all together and that we are Portugal. 'Now, I would like to thank everyone for their presence, for all the messages from all over the world. We are with Andre Silva and Diogo Jota. Always, always with us.'
