Uddingston hairdresser nominated for Scottish title
Diana Carson of Rainbow Room International is in the running at the prestigious British hairdressing awards ceremony in November An Uddingston hairdresser is celebrating after being named as a finalist at the prestigious British hairdressing awards. Diana Carson, creative director of Rainbow Room on Main Street, has been nominated in the Scottish hairdresser of the year category for November's glittering industry ceremony in London. She earned the accolade after impressing experts at the first round of judging, and says it is 'such an honour' to be nominated for the national title; while the company's international artistic team of which she is a key member has also earned a nomination at the awards. Diana stood out from competitors from across the country in the first round of judging at Epsom Downs racecourse, where an expert panel reviewed hundreds of collections with a high standard of entries submitted. The talented hairdresser impressed with her 'exceptional creativity, technical skill and artistic flair' – and will now submit a further four images of her work for a second round of judging in September, when the winners will be decided before being crowned later in the year at the awards ceremony. She said: 'It's such an honour to be named a finalist at the British hairdressing awards and I couldn't be prouder to represent Scotland. 'This recognition means the world to me and I'm constantly striving to push boundaries, stay inspired, and bring something fresh to our clients and the wider industry. To have my work recognised on this scale is incredibly rewarding, and we can't wait for the awards night!' Senior stylist Diana began her career with Rainbow Room International at a young age, training with the group and progressing up the ranks to her current creative director role; as well as holding a senior position in the firm's award-nominated artistic team which focuses on creative hair design and styling. Her work such as the 'intention collection' are described as emphasising 'authenticity and raw texture [and] showcasing her signature cutting techniques'; and she has twice been nominated for the Scottish hairdresser of the year awards and travels the world sharing her high-demand work at shows and seminars. She also recently joined colleagues in running the popular backstage salon at the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow, styling star performers and their teams ahead of taking to the stage for their sets. Rainbow Room say: 'Diana is one of the busiest senior stylists in the group and holds a top-level position in the art team; her knowledge and expertise now see her teaching and coaching in both the salon and the Rainbow Room International academy. 'As a qualified educator, Diana plays a pivotal role in mentoring emerging talent at both the academy and within the salon environment.' The annual British hairdressing awards are described as 'one of the most respected and celebrated events in the global calendar' and are run by Hairdressers Journal International. Executive director Jayne Lewis-Orr said: 'Every year, we're blown away by the level of talent on display. These artists set the standard and inspire thousands — their vision helps shape the future of hairdressing, both in the UK and around the world.' * Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire. ITV Love Island's Harry confronted by Helena's parents in tonight's episode
Harry Cooksley is confronted by ex Helena Ford's parents ahead of tonight's tense show, as things heat up in the latest challenge in the villa. Love Island continues on Tuesday night, July 29, after friends and family arrived in the villa. Fans have eagerly been waiting the moment Harry is confronted by Helena's mum and dad, following their shock split. Harry and Helena had become 'exclusive' in recent episodes. However, in a bombshell that rocked the villa, Harry admitted he seen Helena more as a friend, and wanted to get back with his former flame Shakira. Helena's mum Jasmine and dad Phil enter the villa in tonight's episode followed by Blu's mum Jeni and dad Reza. Helena becomes emotional as she is reunited with her parents. Referencing her relationship with Harry, Helena's dad Phil asks her, 'Is it the real deal what's being going on?' Helena replies, 'From my end, it was so genuine and so real.' Helena 's mum Jasmine comforts her and says, 'Helena, you're a winner.' 'He's not the prize," Helena responds. Meanwhile, Blu's mum Jeni and dad Reza reflect on his experience since returning to the villa. Reza jokes, 'You got rejected twice.' Jeni replies, 'You got pied!' Harry soon approaches Helena and her parents. Helena's dad Phil says, 'Ah the man himself.' Harry says, 'I just wanted to come and say to you both in person - I apologise for a lot of my behaviour towards your daughter.' How will Helena's parents react to Harry? Reuniting with their families, Angel's mum says to her, 'I'm so glad you swerved Harry.' Speaking about her being coupled up with Ty, Angel's mum asks: 'Is it too early to invite him for Sunday dinner?' Meanwhile, speaking about Angel to Ty, Ty's mum says, 'She's stunning!' Conor's cousins Cian and Dara arrive at the Villa, alongside Megan's mum Alison and aunty Gillian. Dara says to Conor, 'Your mum was asking for you. She's been watching every single episode.' Conor replies, 'Has she? She told me she wasn't watching so I've been acting like she wasn't watching!' Both families soon come together and Megan's mum Alison says, 'You come all the way to Love Island and meet someone Irish.' Conor's cousin jokes, ' 20 minutes over the road you could've went!' Megan's mum says, 'I'm happy. You look very, very happy.' Elsewhere on Tuesday night's episode, tensions rise in the 'couple goals' challenge. Yas receives a text which reads, 'Islanders. It's time to reveal what you really think of each other in today's challenge, couple goals! #SmilingButJudging #StandOnBusiness' Hosted by Meg and Dejon, today's game sees the pair read out questions which the Islanders will all answer in their couples about the other couples. When the Islanders are asked the question, 'Which couple would you not want to go on a city break with?' Blu and Helena choose Harry and Shakira. Blu says, 'We went with Harry and Shakira. I think we all know the reason why - Harry might want to wife swap again.' Harry isn't happy with Blu's comments and says to him, 'You're better than that.' But when the Islanders answer 'Which couple is most fake?', the mood turns even more sour. Harry and Shakira choose Blu and Helena. When giving their reasons, Helena interjects, 'That's a cop out mate.' Harry says, 'Hold on. Blu - after the conversation we had this morning and for you to say you don't want to go on a break because I'm going to wife swap, I think it is extremely fake.' Blu says, 'You've done it five times.' When it comes to Toni and Cach's answers, Toni says, 'We've gone with Meg and Dejon. I feel like every time there is an argument between us you love to throw out 'I thought we were friends' - I feel like there have been many situations where you two have not been friends to me.' Meg and Dejon choose Shakira and Harry. Meg says, 'I feel like Shakira, you've made some very hurtful comments to me that we're not very nice and I've always been there for you.' Shakira is left less than impressed and says to Harry, 'The gloves are off now.' Despite the girls putting their differences aside, it appears the divide is as deep as ever. Will the girls work through their issues?

Cat Deeley revealed she didn't want to renew wedding vows before Patrick Kielty split
Cat Deeley was previously asked whether she would renew her wedding vows prior to her split from Patrick Kielty and revealed exactly why it was never on her radar ITV presenter Cat Deeley had insisted she wouldn't renew her wedding vows with Patrick Kielty years before their shock split was announced. The TV duo revealed their marriage of 13 years is over in a statement on Tuesday. Despite the surprising news, Cat had previously said she had no intention to having a second wedding with her Northern Irish husband. Instead, she explained how for preparation to her big day she "barely even did my own wedding". Cat and Patrick tied the knot in 2012 in an intimate ceremony in Italy on September 29. She had previously been married to PR businessman Mark Whelan from 2001 until 2006. And speaking to Closer she revealed her thoughts. She explained how she didn't have much input into her second big day. Instead, she admitted she left the planning solely in Patrick's hands. She trusted him so much that she had never even seen her wedding venue, St Isidore's College in Rome, prior to her wedding ceremony. She added after being asked about potential renewing of vows: "I don't care, as long as everybody was there and had a good time – it doesn't bother me. "Plus, I'm quite lucky I get to dress up and have really special occasions all the time, so to me that wasn't the most exciting thing to happen." The couple initially met while hosting BBC 's Fame Academy together in 2002. However, at the time they were both in relationships. They only made their first public appearance as a couple nine years later in 2011 before tying the knot a year later. They share two children together. Announcing their split, their joint statement read: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment." It's unclear exactly when the couple split, but they had been spending time apart due to conflicting schedules in Ireland and London. The last time Cat referenced Patrick on her Instagram account came in October 2023 a month after their last public appearance. They had also seemed to be enjoying time together during a trip to Saint Tropez last summer. At one point during the day out at the beach in France, Cat looked loved up as the pair soaked up the sun and stood in the sea. The couple seemingly couldn't keep their hands off each other at the time, with the Irish comedian wrapping his hands around his wife's waist. However, in March this year, Cat missed husband Patrick's mum's funeral in Northern Ireland. At the time, a spokesperson told the Mirror that Cat had remained at home to care for their young sons Milo and James. They said: "Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day."
