An Indian-origin man from New Jersey has been charged with battery after a disturbing mid-flight incident aboard a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami, where he allegedly assaulted a fellow passenger in what witnesses described as a bizarre and unprovoked outburst.
The accused, 21-year-old Ishaan Sharma, reportedly began behaving erratically as the flight neared Miami-Dade International Airport. Keanu Evans, the passenger seated behind Sharma, told WSVN that Sharma started muttering strange threats and let out a 'dark laugh" moments before lunging at him. 'He was doing some, like, dark laugh like, 'ha ha ha ha ha.' And he was saying things like, 'you punt, mortal man, if you challenge me, it will result in your death,'" Evans recalled.

A now-viral video shows Sharma standing and grabbing Evans by the throat, but he was quickly restrained as other passengers looked on. Evans suffered minor scratches, while Sharma was left with a black eye and visible facial injuries.
Law enforcement later charged Sharma with battery. His legal team claimed he had been meditating and suggested the incident may have been sparked by seating discomfort.
Defence attorney Renee Gordon told the Daily Mail that her client belongs to a faith that practices meditation, suggesting the altercation may have been triggered by discomfort from the passenger seated behind him. The incident is still under investigation.

Besides Ekta, Pathak named her OTT platform Alt Balaji, and her parents Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor in the complaint. As per the complaint filed through advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, a web series on Alt Balaji showed a military officer engaging in an "illicit sexual act" in one of its episodes. Pathak came across the episode in May 2020, the complaint said. "The accused have stooped to a cheap low and shamelessly targeted the dignity and pride of our country by depicting Indian Army military uniform in the illicit sexual act with national emblem on it," the complaint said.

Number of bank frauds increased threefold in FY25, but amount dipped

The number of fraud cases in the banking sector more than tripled to 23,953 in 2024-2025 (FY25) from 7,359 in FY21. Despite this increase, the amount involved declined by almost 74 per cent to ₹36,014 crore, indicating a more frequent occurrence of low-value frauds. The amount involved in frauds related to loan accounts saw a sharp decline in FY25, according to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data. At the same time, the number of frauds related to credit/debit cards and internet banking rose over five times in FY25. Following a sharp rise in the Indian corporate sector's large-value non-performing loans in the previous decades, banks have become cautious in lending to companies while tightening credit appraisal processes. Banks have increased their focus on retail loans and beefed up digital banking. In the past five years, private sector banks reported more frauds, while public sector banks contributed the most to the fraud amount. This came as private banks were more aggressive in retail lending. The RBI said data for FY25 includes 122 fraud cases amounting to ₹18,674 crore, which were reclassified and reported afresh in the current year after re-examination and ensuring compliance with the Supreme Court's judgment dated March 27, 2023. This was the reason the amount for fraud increased in FY25 after a continuous decline in the previous four years.
