Bollywood twist in Bengaluru? Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan's old Rolls-Royce cars fined ₹38 Lakhs. Know why

Rolls-Royce cars of Amitabh Bachchan, and Aamir Khan have reportedly been fined ₹ 38 lakhs. The only catch? The luxury cars in question, actually do not belong to the Bollywood stars. In a strange turn of events, the two Rolls-Royce cars—one registered under the name of Big B, and the other under Aamir Khan, were fined over ₹ 18 lakh and ₹ 20 lakh respectively, in Bengaluru, reported NDTV. The B' town stars, however, do not own the cars anymore. Both the luxury cars actually belong to Yusuf Sharif, a local businessman-politician better known as 'KGF Babu,' thanks to his roots in the mining town of Kolar Gold Fields—also made famous by the hit Kannada film KGF. According to NDTV, 'KGF Babu' had bought the Rolls-Royce from Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan a few years back, but never transferred the ownership to his name, on paper. That paperwork blunder finally caught up with him. The Phantom, from Big B has been cruising around Bengaluru since 2021, while the Ghost – previously owned by Aamir Khan — joined it in 2023—both still bearing Maharashtra registrations, causing the city's Regional Transport Office (RTO) to raise eyebrows. Officials revealed that the Rolls Royce previously owned by Amitabh Bachchan was flagged for non-payment of taxes in 2021, but since at the time it had not completed a year in Bengaluru, it was let off without penalty. But now, both cars have been confirmed to have been operating in the city well beyond the one-year limit set by transport rules, triggering these hefty fines. Rolls Royce Phantom was fined ₹ 18.53 lakh, while Ghost was fined ₹ 19.73 lakh over long-term usage in Karnataka without payment of local road tax. Before venturing into real estate, Yusuf Sharif used to sell scrap. Sharif, who contested the 2021 Karnataka Legislative Council elections from the Bangalore Urban local authorities' constituency, had declared assets worth over ₹ 1,744 crore for himself and his family at the time.

Rolls-Royce Cars Of Big B, Aamir Khan Fined 38 Lakhs. There's A 'KGF' Twist

Bengaluru: They say, "What's in a name?" Well, it meant a lot in a bizarre case in Bengaluru when two high-end cars with the names of two Bollywood superstars as owners (only on paper) were fined lakhs of rupees. Two Rolls-Royce cars, each registered in the names of Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, were fined more than 18 lakh and 19 lakh, respectively, for failing to pay road tax in the capital city of Karnataka. However, they don't own these cars, at least not anymore. Both cars are owned by a local businessman-politician, Yusuf Sharif, who was using the ultra-luxury vehicles regularly. He bought the cars from the Bollywood icons a few years ago, but didn't transfer them into his name. Mr Sharif was also known as 'KGF Babu' due to his roots. He is a native of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), a mining town in Karnataka, which gained popularity after the blockbuster Kannada movie series, 'KGF'. The Rolls-Royce Phantom, bought from Mr Bachchan, and the Rolls-Royce Ghost, originally owned by Mr Khan, are registered in Maharashtra. The exact date of when KGF Babu bought these cars is not known as of yet. But, as per the Regional Transport Office (RTO), the Rolls-Royce Phantom has been in Bengaluru since 2021, and the other one since 2023. While Phanton was fined Rs 18.53 lakh, Ghost was fined Rs 19.73 lakh over long-term usage in Karnataka without payment of local road tax. Officials revealed that the Rolls-Royce Phantom was first flagged over non-payment of taxes in 2021, but since at the time it had not completed a year in Bengaluru, it was let off without penalty. But now, both cars have been confirmed to have been operating in the city well beyond the one-year limit set by transport rules, triggering these hefty fines. RTO officials have confirmed that the ownership of the vehicles hasn't changed yet on paper. Mr Sharif, who contested from Bangalore Urban local authorities' constituency in the 2021 Karnataka Legislative Council polls, had declared assets belonging to him and his family worth over Rs 1,744 crore four years ago. He was earlier into selling scrap before foraying into real estate.
