BREAKING NEWS Northland Shopping Centre is evacuated AGAIN after fire erupts inside a busy store - just hours after a car smashed into the building

Daily Mail19-06-2025

A doomed shopping centre is being evacuated after a fire broke out in a store less than 24 hours after a vehicle smashed into the building and terrified shoppers.
Shoppers were seen fleeing Northland Shopping Centre, 15km north of Melbourne 's CBD, after smoke was seen coming from Myer on Thursday morning.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia an automatic alarm at the Myer store went off at 10.34am and one fire truck was currently on the scene.
Fire crews found small fire in an electrical light and the issue should be resolved soon.
It came just hours after a man allegedly drove a stolen Toyota Landcruiser into the crowded shopping centre just after 4pm on Wednesday.
The man was filmed driving the white Landcruiser into the building in an alleged effort to evade police officers.
Footage showed the vehicle smashing into the shopping centre and breaking through doors as shoppers desperately took cover.
The driver allegedly rammed a police vehicle several times.

'Thankfully, no one was struck by the car and there are no reported injuries,' police said in a statement.
Paramedics also rushed to the centre, Ambulance Victoria said in a statement.
'Two people were assessed at the scene but did not require transport to hospital,' a spokesperson said.
Witness Tanya Nava was working in Kmart when the incident occurred.
'Everyone was just in a panic,' she told Today.
'A young girl runs up to me and she goes, "Oh, there's a car in the shopping centre". And we just all went "oh my god", and then everyone was just freaking out.'
Police found the car dumped on Beavers Road in Northcote about an hour later.
A 27-year-old man was arrested at a home at 8.30am on Thursday.
The man is being interviewed by detectives and no charges have been laid.
Police will allege the LandCruiser was stolen from Ivanhoe East on June 2, using an 'electronic key reprogramming tool' seized during Thursday's arrest.
It came just three weeks after Northland Shopping Centre was plunged into lockdown following an alleged fight between teens armed with machetes.
Shoppers were reassured security would be increased following the incident.
'We continue to work with the Victorian Police, with increased security and police presence in centre over the coming days,' the centre said.
'We understand the incident that took place at our centre was distressing, and we want to reassure our community that we are taking this matter seriously.'

‘Terrified' Gemma Collins sent rat poison and bizarre note in the post as she ups security at her Essex home

TERRIFIED Gemma Collins was left reeling after a parcel containing rat poison was sent to her home. The reality TV star, 44, was shocked by the toxic package, which also contained a nasty note covered with glitter, and reported it to police. 3 3 The hate mail came just weeks after The Sun on Sunday revealed Gemma was forced to call the cops over another 'abusive and menacing' letter. A source said: 'The package was really scary and she was terrified to receive it. 'It was delivered by the postman, but had no postage stamp on it. 'Gemma was worried as it contained rat poison, especially as she has animals at her home.' Gemma, who lives with businessman fiancé Rami Hawash, has since beefed up security with 24-hour guard dog patrols. The source added she has passed on details of the latest incident to cops, who she had been already in contact with over the previous hate letter. They said: 'They've been fantastic and have some new leads. 'She's trying not to let it get to her too much and doing her best to focus on summer projects.' Gemma told a podcast in May she has had multiple stalkers over the years. They threatened to kill her and sent letters to her boutique store in Essex — leading her to quit front-of-house work. Terrified Gemma Collins calls cops & beefs up security after man sends 'nasty and menacing' letter to her home A spokesman for Gemma declined to comment. But sources confirmed she is in contact with cops. Essex Police were approached for comment.

Missing head of decapitated model's boyfriend ‘still not found' as Beauty & The Geek star, 34, charged with murder

A FORMER Beauty and the Geek star has been charged with the murder and decapitation of her boyfriend — as cops desperately search for his missing head. Julian Story, 39, was reportedly found burnt and dismembered on the bathroom floor of an apartment in Port Lincoln, southern Australia. 7 7 Officers made the grim discovery last Tuesday after responding to reports of a small fire. His girlfriend, Tamika Sueann-Rose Chesser, 34 — a model and reality TV star — was arrested two days later under the Mental Health Act and charged with murder. Detectives have launched an urgent public appeal to help locate Mr Story's missing head, which was allegedly removed after his killing around midnight on June 17. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke told reporters on Friday: 'While I won't provide any further detail about that at this time, I can tragically say that we have not recovered the head of Julian Story. 'I can only imagine, and I want you to imagine, the grief this news is causing Julian's family. 'Recovering Julian's head to return it to his family so they can have a peaceful outcome, have a funeral and lay him to rest is a really important aspect for us.' Police have circulated CCTV footage and stills of a woman alleged to be Ms Chesser strolling through Port Lincoln hours after the alleged murder. The woman was seen with three dogs — dressed head-to-toe in black with a head covering, cops said. Officers hope locals might spot something that could lead them to the missing remains. 'Killer' told man he 'tortured to death he was going to s**g his ex' 'I'm appealing to local residents to review CCTV or dash cam footage which they may have, which may assist the investigation,' Supt Fielke said. Court documents reveal officers found Ms Chesser sitting in the back garden of the property 'in a catatonic and unresponsive state' before arresting her. She's also been charged with disposing of human remains to pervert the course of justice and assaulting a police officer, The Telegraph reports. So far, police say there's no obvious motive, with Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott admitting there were still 'a lot of unanswered questions' in what he described as a complex crime scene. In court on Friday, a suppression order protecting Ms Chesser's identity and banning publication of the alleged circumstances of Mr Story's death was lifted. The ex-reality star, who appeared via video link, has been denied bail and remains under a mental health detention order ahead of a committal hearing set for December. Ms Chesser's sister, Kiya-May, claimed her family is shattered by reports she'd been charged with murder. They told Daily Mail Australia: 'Please report how my sister is in a mental psychosis... This is not her... She would never do these things.' She added her sister had suffered 'a life of trauma and abuse, and now this – it has fried her brain'. Meanwhile, Mr Story's grieving family has thanked police, emergency workers and the community for their support during what they called an 'unimaginable loss,'. 7 7 'Your care has brought comfort amid the chaos,' they said. Neighbours have also recalled how they tried to tackle the blaze, unaware of the horror inside. Local resident Jody Miller told 7News: 'It's devastating. This doesn't happen in a small town like Port Lincoln.' He added he'd seen the couple before, saying: 'She seemed normal, she was good.' It comes as eerie footage emerged of a woman believed to be Ms Chesser reportedly standing topless at the Port Lincoln war memorial wearing a wedding veil, just days before her arrest. The bizarre clip showed the woman silent and motionless at the Garden of Remembrance while holding what appeared to be a sharp object — an unsettling stunt filmed by a horrified bystander. 7
